You know Garmin for all of their fancy GPS devices and watches. Well, now they have a new watch in the Garmin Forerunner 610 GPS sport watch. It features a weather-proof touchscreen and is designed for serious runners looking for an extra advantage. The Forerunner 610 is good to go in rain, safe from your sweat and any other splashes you can throw at it.

This one is responsive enough that it can be operated while wearing running gloves. It sports features like pace, distance and time meter, a heart rate monitor, and you can even race with friends in other countries.

If you’re looking for an affordable GPS watch to wear while jogging and such, Garmin has just announced the Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS watch. You get some decent features for the price.

The watch can be used for up to eight hours in GPS mode and three weeks in standby mode. The Forerunner 110 features Garmin’s HotFix technology to quickly acquire and hold satellite signals. You can upload your stats to Garmin Connect, and it can hold up to 200 hours of data.

Google has unveiled Maps Navigation (beta), an upgraded version of the current Maps software that will be free and apparently available on all Android 2.0 devices. You get all of the usual Maps features, along with being able to search by the name of a business and it will even suggest the closest matches and traffic data.

There’s also turn-by-turn navigation with a female robotic voice and integration with satellite and street view. Street view will be able to show you what lane you need to be in when exiting the highway, for instance. It will also now search along the route when you’re looking for gas stations or fast food. Some addresses can be added to the Android home screen as icons too.

Garmin is offering up two new watches in the Forerunner lineup. They look a tad, uh, fugly. The waterproof 310XT and the 405CX, which is the successor to the 405. Fugly they may be, but they pack in a lot of functions.

The 310XT features a tough waterproof shell rated for a depth of up to 50 meters, and 20 hours of battery life. Both the 310XT and the 405CX include GPS, wireless, data syncing and will track your burned calories. These are great watches for Athletes looking for a personal trainer on their wrist.

Watches today do more than watches could do in the past. I have seen watches that have cell phones built-in and watches that connect to the Internet. Garmin is a brand closely associated with GPS devices, but the company has a wider range of products and has introduced a new watch.

It would be easy to assume that the new watch offers GPS capability, but it doesn’t. The watch monitors data from your workouts and saves it for wireless transmission to your computer for analysis. The watch is compatible with any ANT+ fitness device like heart rate monitors, foot pods, or home and gym equipment.

Garmin has a new exercise gadget debuting at CES this year called the Forerunner 405, designed for runners to aid in training and track routes. The new 405 is also a little more stylish than previous models with similar functionality, keeping the size to a minimum so the gadget doesn’t look like such a gaudy chunk of electronics on your wrist.

The Forerunner 405 is GPS enabled and allows outdoor runners to keep track of their speed, distance, heart rate and location through the watch. This model also features a cool new bezel around the display that lets users navigate and change settings on the watch by simply tapping it and sliding their finger around the metal circle.

Garmin unveiled today an advanced fitness watch which wirelessly synchs with other devices, including PCs, to collect and store fitness data. The Garmin Forerunner 50 is expected this October in several price ranges, with $200 being the highest as it includes several fitness monitoring accessories.

The Garmin Forerunner 50 interfaces with fitness monitoring accessories, including a heart rate monitor and foot pod that monitors speed and distance, to wirelessly collect data related to one’s workout. This data can then automatically be wirelessly synched with a nearby PC via a USB stick which connects to the computer. This stick is designed to communicate with the Forerunner 50 without wires when in close proximity.
