Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on August 3rd, 2011

The iPad 2 is one of the most beloved gadgets, so is the original gameboy. Put them together and you have something ultra awesome. This iPad 2 Game Boy case is one of the coolest cases we’ve seen. And we’ve seen plenty.

No release date yet and since Nintendo likes to go after Gameboy imitators, this may not be offered for long. We will have to wait and see what happens.

Here’s a great dress for the geek girl in your life. These tube dresses will make you look like a life-size Nintendo Game Boy. Each dress is made from a jersey knit fabric, in colors that match the Nintendo Game Boy.

You even get the felt A/B buttons, as well as Start and Select, but you might get slapped if you get too button happy and touch the wrong area. It was actually sold yesterday, but Etsy shop HereandThereVintage will continue to offer some pretty cool clothing just like this one.

Nintendo drops 3DS from $249 to $169 August 12th, current owners get 20 free games

Posted in Nintendo 3DS by Reuben Drake on July 28th, 2011

The price of the Nintendo 3DS in the US is dropping on August 12th from $249 to $169. Other regions are getting a similar price break as well. Hey, but what about US gamers that have already shelled out for the full price? Gamers that have logged into the eShop at least once before the price cut will get 10 free NES virtual console games September 1st, plus 10 more Game Boy Advance virtual console games.

This is likely due to wanting to compete with the upcoming Vita. Nintendo plans to sell 16 million 3DS units in the financial year, but still slashed its financial projections for the year from ¥110 billion to just ¥20 billion.

Game Boy iPhone 4 Case

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Reuben Drake on June 16th, 2011

This iPhone 4 case is one of the neatest Gameboy cases for the phone that we’ve seen yet. The Game Boy iPhone 4 case comes in several colors including yellow, orange, white, black, red and blue. This case hasn’t been officially licensed by Nintendo of course.

They are available for $8.90 each. Better grab one before Nintendo puts it’s foot down over this one. It’s one of the most realistic cases we’ve seen.

Posted in gaming accessories by Conner Flynn on June 7th, 2011

The Wii U is making the headlines today, but what about the old SNES? That was making waves at E3 too. The classic SNES has been reborn as the SupaBoy, from Hyperkin.

It’s a handheld version of the old console that will let you get your portable old school game on. The image is an early prototype, but we wouldn’t mind having it in this form at all. The plan is to ship by the end of the year for $79.99. Sign us up.

GameBoy resurrected from the dead, with the power of the sun

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on April 5th, 2011

When is a dead Gameboy not a dead Gameboy? When this guy gets hold of it. Andrew had a damaged GameBoy and much like Dr, Frankenstein, he didn’t just give up. He laid his monster on a table one dark and stormy night, opened a solar powered garden lamp and used the photovoltaic cells on the GameBoy.

The storm subsided and the clouds parted. This was followed by shouts of “It’s alive!” The GameBoy now soaks up the sun’s rays and stays on forever, without running out of energy, as long as the sun shines. It uses two AA rechargeable batteries that store all the energy it gets from the sun.

New Game Boy emulator for Windows Phone 7 coming

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on January 24th, 2011

Samuel Blanchard is showing off a Game Boy Pocket Color emulator for Windows Phone 7. That’s right, the Windows Phone 7 platform will soon let you play all of the old classics that you love from the Nintendo device.

The app doesn’t yet come with flash RAM management and backup features, so it won’t be good to play a game like Pokemon with this, though games like Tetris will be good. We love us some old school Nintendo.

Concept Game Boy iPhone Case

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on January 12th, 2011

Last week at CES 2011 case makers Incipio showed off an awesome looking conceptual Game Boy iPhone case. That’s the good news. It’s adorable right? Well, the bad news is that due to copyright concerns Incipio has no plans to ever bring the Game Boy iPhone case to market.

The Incipio iPhone case is fully detailed with button color, texture, and placement that’s nearly identical to Nintendo’s original Game Boy. That’s what makes it awesome, but it is also what makes it a problem apparently. The idea was to show what the company can do. They now have our attention.

Tactile Stickers turn touchscreens into Gaming Controllers

Posted in gaming accessories by Conner Flynn on November 7th, 2010

If you have a smartphone like the iPhone, with a touchscreen, but miss tactile buttons when it comes to playing games, then check out the Tactile+Plus adhesives. They are stickers with raised bumps so you can feel them and press on them like a game controller.

You will no longer have to carry around a game pad adapter, since it’s on your phone already. The kit includes an 8-way circular control pad and 4 individual key buttons that mimic the Gameboy system.

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on October 19th, 2010

We love taking something new and making it old, just like we love to take old things and make them new in some way. Especially when it comes to video games. And this decal should please video game fans out there. It’s the Game Boy Color iPhone 4 Decal.

It’s a great way to give your iPhone 4 a vintage Nintendo makeover, while protecting the glass back from scratches. It is available for just $6.00.

Flashboy Plus Virtual Boy Emulator

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on August 26th, 2010

The homebrew community is giving some love to Nintendo’s Virtual Boy. The Flashboy Plus is the second of two flash carts for Nintendo’s original stereoscopic system, featuring a new backup battery and 16Mbits of memory. That’s enough to fit any one of the system’s 22 commercially released games.

The battery only keeps one save stored at a time and there’s no way to read the battery-backed memory, so you’ll still have to finish one game before you start another, but you won’t lose your progress every time you shut down.

Homemade Fallout 3 plasma rifle

Posted in Weapons by Conner Flynn on August 24th, 2010

The A3-21 Plasma Rifle kicks ass in Fallout 3 and it looks pretty awesome in the real world too. Ryan Palser created this bad boy, which took five months to complete. His wife painted it up real nice to give it the weathered look. If they ever make a Fallout movie, they better turn to Ryan and wife for props.

We’d love to see more of Fallout’s weapons in real life, maybe even some Brotherhood of Steel armor. To paraphrase the song from the game, Ryan doesn’t want to set the world on fire, he just wants to start a flame in our hearts with this beast.

Gorilla chills with Nintendo DS portable in San Francisco

Posted in Nintendo by Shane McGlaun on August 10th, 2010

A gorilla at the San Diego zoo recently came by his own Nintendo DS portable game console. The DS appeared in the gorilla habitat when a boy visiting the zoo dropped it inside.

The gorilla picked the DS up and proceeded to mess with it to try and figure out exactly what it was. I wonder what he would have done if the thing was tuned on when he picked it up.
