Shooting fire extinguisher concept

Shooting fire extinguisher conceptIf fire extinguishers were more like Bazookas, I think more people would volunteer for the job. Fire AND shooting stuff? Hell yeah! Shooting fires out? Even better. This concept is modeled on a light-weight gun design and is loaded with CO2 cartridges with a laser guidance system, so you can hit the target in an emergency.

Just hit the alarm button to alert everybody else that there’s a fire and then pull the trigger and fire. It’s a great concept. Problem is, it’s so fun people would be starting fires just to put them out again. Just think, all those nerf gun hours you logged during your life could finally pay off.

Radio Controlled Granny looks like all kinds of fun

Radio Controlled Granny looks like all kinds of fun
I don’t care who you are, it doesn’t get much funnier then the elderly treating their wheelchair like a hot-rod and just gunning it. Previously, if you wanted to see the geriatric in racing form, you had to play slot car racing grannies.

Thankfully, someone has expanded the premise to include an old woman in a grocery store, with slippery floors and plenty of canned goods to crash into. The handicap ramp should provide some airborn Dukes Of Hazard moments too. It will cost you about $36. Good fun. It will give you something to think about the next time you’re in line behind an old woman with a change purse.

Robots of Battlestar Galactica
Sometimes the coolest gadgets in Sci-Fi are not gadgets at all. But robots. Here’s a look at some of the most memorable robots from sci-fi in no particular order. It’s not a complete list. Think of it more as a walk down memory lane. Because geeks love Sci-Fi and Sci-Fi has a long history of loving robots.

Air Force Golf Ball Launcher will improve your game

Air Force Golf Ball Launcher will improve your game
I don’t play golf. Mostly because I suck at it and I don’t get the point of hitting a ball with a metal stick, driving to that ball, then hitting it again, and again. But the Air Force Golf Ball Launcher would make the game fun and even if I still suck, I’ll have a powerful gun to shoot people with.

The idea is that handicapped people who can’t swing a club can still get in on the action. The designer of the launcher created the product after his father had a stroke and was left without the ability to use an arm and a leg. It allowed him to continue to hit the golf course with his father. The Air Force will launch a golf ball from a few feet to up to 300 yards. This could be the beginning of a new breed of golf.

Nerf Wii Blaster: a Wii gun that fires darts

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on February 14th, 2008

Nerf Wii Blaster
Nerf and the the Zapper now have a love child, thanks to a new partnership between Electronic Arts and Hasbro. They’ve revealed Nerf N-Strike for the Nintendo Wii and DS systems, along with a Wiimote-based Nerf blaster. Nerf’s Wii blaster isn’t the usual Nintendo Zapper clone. That’s because it doubles as a functional Nerf dart gun. Just stick the Wiimote in the Nerf gun grip and it becomes a game controller, or load it with a Nerf blaster module to fire foam darts at your friends.

The Nerf N-Strike games and the blaster are scheduled to ship in Fall 2008. There should be more details from Hasbro at next week’s Toy Fair in New York. Here’s an idea, maybe they can shove a Wiimote in a Nerf football and have it communicate with the Wii.

Dishwasher for guns won’t give you a clean shot

Posted in Weapons by Conner Flynn on February 13th, 2008

Dishwasher system for cleaning gunsIt will make your guns sparkling clean though. This has Sarah Connor written all over it. If mankind’s future depends on protecting John Connor and forming a resistance against the cyborg threat, you are gonna want your equipment clean and thus less likely to malfunction.

It’s essentially a dishwasher for guns, making it quick and easy to clean them so you can get right back out there and kill stuff. Or whatever it is you do. It will clean up to 10 handguns or 4 long guns at the same time. Clean guns…That’s what will win against SkyNet, no matter how many Terminator’s they send your way.

Coby MP-835: just another pretty PMP

Coby MP-835Wannabe CE company Coby doesn’t get too much love from us because they rarely put out interesting products. One which is mainly catching our eye though at the moment is the apparently newly released MP-835, a portable media player which is trying to gun for the Apple iPod touch.

The Coby MP-835 offers up a three-inch TFT LCD color display for you to control its functions with. Memory options are available in a rather measly 2GB or 4GB configuration, though this can be supplemented by an integrated microSD memory card slot. It offers support for most of your typical media formats, including MP3, WMA, AVI, WMV and JPG.

Spice Blaster seasons your food at gun point

Spice Blaster seasons your food at gun point
The spice blaster is a project designed by Chinese designers Zhu Fei and was one of the entries from designboom’s recent “dining in 2015″ competition. We hope it becomes real in the near future, because shooting spices at food sounds like alot of fun. Not to mention the mischief you could get into with this gun. Imagine shooting pepper at that annoying someone and making them sneeze for a good half hour.

Yes this could be a fun toy. The idea here is that by using an air bag that compresses when the trigger is pressed, the spice gun blasts seasoning all over your food. This could be fun if you worked in a restaurant as well. Just run out into the dining area and randomly shoot spices at people’s food. You may not have your job after that, but those would be some good times.

Taser gets into shotguns, shotgun shells…ouch!

Posted in Weapons by Nino Marchetti on February 1st, 2008

taser-shotgun.jpgNext time you go to grab your little Taser stunner out of your purse, think about this: what would even be more frightening to a potential mugger is a grandma wielding a Taser shotgun. That’s right – Taser has announced an extended range projectile to add to your Taser arsenal.

Taser is of course targeting law enforcement with its new eXtended Range Electronic Projectile (XREP). It will fit any standard 12-gauge shotgun and smack you down with “the same Neuro-Muscular Incapacitation (NMI) bio-effect as our handheld TASER X26, but can be delivered to a distance of up to 100 feet, combining blunt impact with field proven TASER NMI.” Each projectile will come pre-packaged in a shell compatible with 12-gauge shotguns and will be transparent so police known which type of ammo they are taking you down with.

Wii Shark gun is the oddest Wii gun yet

Posted in Wii,Wii Accessories by Conner Flynn on December 28th, 2007

Wii Shark Gun controller accessoryThe Wii shark gun may just be one accessory too many. Does it jump the shark? Probably. I think the packaging says it all, showing a tough U.S. soldier in uniform aiming this thing at the target. Then in the lower right we see the typical James Bond like silhouette. Apparently the world loves this gun. I especially like the “Playing easily. Playing happily.” slogan. They left out, “Looking like a tool”.

You stick your Wiimote on the top, then hook up your Nunchuck to the shark’s ass and then get ready for hours of fun. I guess if you were actually playing a game that involved sharks it might not be so bad. If you absolutely have to have every Wii accessory, $10 is a fair price to pay for aiming a shark at your TV.

Sick Brick: FMOM Industries Wave Disrupter Gun

wave-gun.jpgWhat collection of gadgets is complete without a ray gun? While we wish we could find a functioning ray gun for personal use, perhaps we’ll instead settle for this full scale size antique prop from Weta. The FMOM Industries Wave Disrupter Gun is priced at $621.

The FMOM Industries Wave Disrupter Gun is described by online retailer TFAW as an “antique-styled sci-fi hand weapon prop.” It was designed by Weta Workshop and built by model maker David Tremont. Only 500 of these bad boys exist.

Bathroom Mirror Wiper cleans mirror of fog and gunk

I can see how this one might work very well. You’ve probably always wished you had a windshield wiper on your bathroom mirror. Something to defog and at the same time, clean the funk off. I know I have, but I am a lazy inventor. Which is why someone else will profit from this one.(again!)

This bathroom technology could not be simpler. The wiper blade is mounted in the upper left corner and it requires manual wiping to get the mirror clean. I know, they should have put a tiny motor in it, but it’s still cool. Like I said, simple.

Ridata Yego DriveAdvanced Media, the manufacturer of Ridata digital products, announced it had begun sales of its Ridata Yego Drive through the Web sites of Wal-Mart and CompUSA. The Yego Drive is available in 2GB and 4GB storage capacities.

The Ridata Yego Drive is a rather unique looking USB drive. Besides allowing one to store data on it this drive also acts as a USB hub via the two USB ports built into its limbs. These USB 2.0 drives also feature what is called “advanced partition and security functions” so one can create password protected areas for storage of important files.

Pink TASER C2

Pink TASER C2If you’re going to carry a TASER around with you, at least now there’s more color options for the thing so you can try to coordinate with your outfit for the day. This Pink TASER also comes in colors of gray, silver and blue, but just because it’s colorful doesn’t mean it’s not powerful. The TASER C2, pink or not, still packs a wallop that will leave most would-be assailants stuck in their tracks.

The device is purposely non-gun shaped and has a large lightening bolt on the front to let the person on the …

DataGlass Delivers Mobile PC Experience

DataGlass 3/A monitorThis nifty head-mounted display reminds me of those old “Deep Space Nine” episodes where the bad guys would use these things to see Federation ships attack them. For us lowly terrestrials in the early 21st century, Shimadzu’s DataGlass 3/A was designed so that workers in wet or dusty environments could use the functionality of a PC on the jobsite.

Weighing 120 grams, the DataGlass delivers SVGA/VGA graphics consistent with a 10 or 14-inch monitor. You don’t even need to remove your glasses to use it or worry about it getting rained on.

Connection is made …
