First 1080p digital photo viewer announced |
Looking at family photos has come a long way since I was a kid. My mom had volumes of photo albums with pictures crammed in slots. Inevitably, over time they would stick to the pages and ruin the pictures. Today for family photos, we store thousands of them on one tiny memory card or our computers and view them on a digital photo frame. The next evolution of viewing family photos will be looking at them on the big screen TV in the living room.
You can do something similar on an Apple TV, but you have to send the photos over a network to the device. PIE Unites has a new digital photo viewer called the HD-0310 that connects to your HDTV via HDMI and can display images at full 1080p resolution.

Out of the two presidential candidates, which is more likely to be hip and use tech to his advantage? Well, the young hip guy apparently. If you are an Obama supporter and want to show the world who your choice for president is, you’ll want the Obama 08 bracelet. The bracelet is the stretchy plastic kind that you’ve seen used for different causes, but this one has a USB plug and video, music, photos, speeches and more stored on it’s flash drive inside the bracelet.
So you’ve got about a hundred lighters laying around, just like you have a huge pile of flash drives, because all you do is smoke like a fiend and save data all day for some reason. I feel your pain. Why not combine the lighter with the flash drive and have both in one convenient device. It’s made to look like a Zippo. A refillable Zippo with an 8GB flash drive and retractable USB connection that slides out of the bottom. The flame is adjustable, but the price is not at $59.99. If the Doors were around today they might sing Come On Baby Light My File.
Here’s a flash drive for those with a love of Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars. But don’t zoom this one all over your desk or make it jump ramps, because your precious data is inside. This 2GB USB memory stick from Green House is molded to resemble a Formula One race car. A very shiny and tiny race car. The USB connector is in the rear. Like all good things we seem to want, this one is currently only available in Japan at the end of the month, where they love shiny little cars and pink kittys.
The eco minded geek is always on the lookout for the next environmentally friendly gadget. The Recycle USB flash drive is all Mother Nature, fit for eco geeks and hippies who have given in to using tech and washing occasionally.
On the sickeningly cute side of
The other day we told you about the Evangelion USB Flash Drive. Now Buffalo Japan will release another one. Some of you will no doubt think that it’s the cutest USB thing since Hello Kitty. It’s a REI model, that will give you up to 4GB of memory. If you’re a fan of the Japanese manga series you’ll have to get one quick since it’s limited to 5000 pieces. The price is $54.25 and it will be available on September 30th. It’s much cuter then the first one and has more storage.
Completing the USB flash drive trifeca for this evening is the TrekStor drive/bottle opener. Since you already have a USB drive and you probably already have a bottle opener, why not combine the two? How many times have you found yourself opening bottle after bottle, getting blitzed while moving data around? More times then you can remember since it’s all a foggy haze.
Fans of Japanese manga Evangelion will love this USB flash drive inspired by the series so much that they’ll toss their old flash drives aside. Then there are those who will keep it in the box and preserve it like an Egyptian mummy in the hopes that it is a collector’s item that will make them rich one day. Dream big my geek friends. Dream big. When was the last time you heard someone say, “I’m so glad I kept that USB drive in the box. It made me the millionaire I am today.” Whatever the case, the flash drive is designed like the Mecha’s cockpit and will come in 2GB capacities. Just use the damn thing!
We’ve told you about the awesome
Like lollipops or Popsicles, some of us like our software on a USB drive. So, looks like some German guy is offering a no-install, “lite” version of the Google CHROME BROWSER. Google on a stick if you will. On a USB flash drive. Carsten created a portable version of Google Chrome that has all the features of the main browser but requires no installation. Just unzip all the files and start using it. It will run directly from the USB stick on any Windows computer and all of your user settings like web history, cookies, etc. will also get saved to the same folder on the stick. The software is downloadable.
