Yes HTPCs are getting smaller and smaller. One day soon they will be the size of a flash drive, with flash drives being the size of a pebble. This crazy small PC has a Via EPIA-P820 Pico-ITX motherboard inside, and Via’s AMOS-3001 is the first PC to use it. It has COM ports and two USB ports on the front, and Ethernet, USB, and HDMI ports in back. It measures just 6 inches wide.

The 1.2GHz all-in-one VIA VX855 Media System Processor plays 1080p video as well. And yes the design is fanless, which keeps things silent. No pricing info just yet, but we should know more soon.

We are only days away from the kick off of CES 2010 and one of the big product categories that will be featured at the show in 2010 is USB 3.0. USB 3.0 is going to go mainstream in a big way in 2010 and lots of flash drives and external storage solutions will be on hand at the big show.

Symwave and Super Talent will be showing off the Super Talent USB 3.0 RAIDDrive. The drive uses the Symwave SW6318 device offering performance of 300MB/s on reads. Super Talent claims that the drive is the fastest USB 3.0 drive on the market.

Have you been holding out on that 64GB flash drive purchase, because you want something faster than USB 2.0? Well, PQI has just the thing. The PQI Cool Drive U366 is a USB 3.0 flash drive inside of an all aluminum shell.

Since it is USB 3.0, you’ll get 5Gbps/sec maximum bandwidth and it has a read speed of up to 97MB/sec. If 64GB is more than you need, 16GB and 32GB options are also available. Soon enough, other manufacturers will be unleashing 3.0 flash drives.

Every car I have owned for the last six years or so has had a double DIN stereo in it. I thought the single DIN stereo was outdated, but I guess there are enough cars out there that there is still a market. MD Sound has announced a new single DIN stereo called the MD-DVD3.5T with a color LCD and a low price.

The radio has a 3.5-inch LCD on a flip down panel that can play DVDs and other media from flash drives and SD cards. The radio supports DVD/DVD-R/MP3/MP4/VCD/CD/CD-R/CD-RW media. The radio also has a built-in AM/FM/MPX tuner.

Back in August I mentioned the Micron C200 SSDs had tipped up with snazzy etched cases and good storage space. Micron has announced the next in its RealSSD line today called the C300 series.

The new series uses the SATA 6Gb/s interface making them some of the fastest SSDs ever. The new drives promise a read speed of up to 355MB/s and write speeds of up to 215MB/s. The drive scored 45,000 on the PC Mark Vantage HDD suite.

Pogoplug may have been the first to make this type of gadget, but now it’s time for some less well known names to offer up similar devices for less money. Sharkoon has now developed their own USB LANPort, which effectively puts USB storage like your flash drives, external hard drives, etc. onto a local network.

Looks like it’s mainly for making multiple drives available to a different machines via customized permissions though. The USB LANPort 100 converts a single drive into a device that can be streamed from locally. The USB LANPort 400 handles up to four USB devices. Both devices support automatic and manual IP address contacts and are available now for €22.99 ($34) and €36.99 ($56).

These flash drives look good enough to eat, but if you try you are only going to break a tooth, even though they do look like candy. The Yum Drive 2 GB USB Flash Drive disguised as Bubble Yum and Twizzlers are for the user who loves candy, but needs storage more.

Both the Twizzlers and the Bubble Yum version look very realistic. And they’re better than the real thing since they won’t give you any cavities. Both are available now for $24.99 and will probably make you break down and buy the real thing.

The Clothes Pin USB drive is a handy drive to have. You can hang clothes on your clothesline with it and store your data. But you can’t do both. It won’t hold your clothes while in the USB port and it won’t save your data while drying your shirt in the wind.
