FaceID combines home security systems with facial recognition. It will likely take over from the usual password, swipe card, retina and fingerprint scanning systems that we already use. It isn’t just a concept either.

FaceID is available right now and looks cool enough for any front door. It uses two digital cameras to create a 3D image of your face. Your face model is stored and matched with whoever stands in front of the system so it can decide whether to let you in or not.

How many Digital Photo Frames do you know that have a printer? None? That’s right none. Sony is going where no brand has gone before in the world of digital photo frames with the announcement of the DPP-F700. It’s basically a 7 inch frame that has a printer attached.

It’s a WVGA display with support for up to 800 x 480 resolution. You also get a gigabyte of memory, 21 different templates for displaying the time and date and it supports a bunch of card types, SD cards, SDH cards, etc.

Check out this leaked image of the upcoming HTC Leo smartphone in the wild. It’s larger than the HTC Touch Pro2 and the Touch HD, with a roomy 4.3″ touchscreen display. This one is powered by Windows Mobile 6.5 and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz processor.

Stealth Computer has unveiled their latest notebook, the NW-2000. This one is a rugged hybrid laptop/tablet based around Intel’s 1.06GHz Core 2 Duo. When I say tough, I mean Mr. T tough. Fool. It features a 13.3-inch sunlight viewable resistive touchscreen and MIL-STD-810F, shock & vibration compliance.

Some other features are: 2GB of RAM (maximum 4GB), 160GB shock-mounted hard-drive or optional SSD, and a spill-resistant keyboard. This baby can handle a drop from 91cm onto a wood-covered concrete surface 26 times in a row and still function. How’s that for tough?

HP just unveiled its ProBook 4310s, making it available for purchase. This one is aimed squarely at business users. Under the hood you’ll find an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Up to 8GB RAM, Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated/ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 graphics chip, Up to 500GB of hard drive space, DVD burner/Blu-ray combo, 4 or 8 cell battery, 13.3″ LED backlight display at 1,366 × 768 pixels, Optional 2-megapixel webcam and Wi-Fi.

The ProBook 4310s is powered by Windows Vista and prices start at $779 and go up from there, after you’ve thrown in the additional fingerprint reader, Bluetooth etc.

If you’re in the market for a new notebook, Dell wants you to consider the new small business-oriented Vostro 1220. The 12.1″ model starts from $799 and goes up from there. This one is available in Obsidian Black and Deep Cherry Red.

The Vostro 1220 comes with a built-in DVD burner, 6-cell battery, integrated webcam and Dell Video Chat software. It’s powered by an Intel Celeron processor, but Dell will gladly upgrade it to an Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

Yesterday, we told you about the Sony Vaio NW notebook with Blu-Ray for $880. Today we have the comparable Acer Aspire AS5739G with Blu-Ray for $750. You’ll get a 15.6-inch LED LCD (1366×768), 2.1Ghz Core2 Duo processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and a GeForce GT130 graphics card with an extra 1GB of memory.

It also features an 8X Blu-ray drive, 250GB hard drive, Dolby 5.1 output, fingerprint recognition and multitouch support. It’s not the lightest laptop, but it is decent looking. And available now.

As we all knew, Apple’s unveiled a new iPhone today at WWDC, the iPhone 3G S. The “s” stands for speed. Clever. Although it looks almost exactly like the 3G, it’s…Well, faster. Some tasks are almost four times faster. Data speeds have been upped to 7.2Mbps HSDPA, and the camera is now a 3 megapixel unit with tap-to-autofocus and auto white balance. It now supports 30fps VGA video recording with editing features.

You’re also getting a built-in compass, Nike+ support, and a new battery that offers 5 hours of 3G talk time and 9 hours of WiFi internet use. That’s not all. Holding down the home button now enables a new voice control interface that lets you make calls or even control iTunes.

The entire phone is transparent until you turn it on. That’s when the screen and keypad light up so you can press the buttons accordingly. It’s sure to get lost easier and blend into its surroundings. Where the battery is, I have no idea. Hopefully, its stronger than glass.

The MOTORAZR2 V9 Ferrari Special Edition is constructed using plastic, metal and glass with a gloss black finish that is sure to get all smudged up with fingerprints. The handset will be available as a special edition in Malaysia.
