Easter is the perfect time for these colors anyway. Female customers will be all over these. We don’t have any info on pricing and technical specs right now, but if these models do well, they may start showing up elsewhere too.

Tandars Interactive Pet charges via USB

Posted in Toys by Conner Flynn on February 16th, 2011

Remember how popular Furby was? Well, that was then and this is now. This critter has the potential to be the next hot toy for kids. Tandars’ new Interactive Pet monkey is cute and cuddly, with realistic movements and will interact with children and even other Tandars.

They feature sensors that change their mood depending on how you play with them. For instance, when it needs more battery power it will say “ah jee baz nam nam”. Then your kid can then pull the USB cap off of the end of its tail and plug it right into a computer. Sounds weird, but your kids will probably love it.

Other features include an 800MHz processor, a 2.57″ display, 8 GB of internal storage, a 5 megapixel camera, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and HP Touchstone support. Nothing on price yet, but it will arrive this spring. This is obviously aimed at the female of the species.

Ghostly telepresence robot Telenoid R1

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on August 2nd, 2010

Yeah, this bot looks like Casper the friendly ghost. The Telenoid R1 comes from designer Hiroshi Ishiguro and just like Casper I’m sure he doesn’t mean to scare people, but he will. It’s the latest telepresence robot in Japan.

Weighing in at 11-lbs. the robot’s stubs, tail, eyes, mouth and limbs all move in synch with the user, thanks to 9 actuators. Facial expressions are transmitted to the robot through FaceAPI software, which tracks the eyes, mouth, and tilt of the head.

Apple files Patent for Digital Concert and Events tickets

Posted in patents by Conner Flynn on April 18th, 2010

Details have come to light regarding a new Apple patent which could see the iPhone and iPod Touch used as digital tickets for concerts and events. The patent was filed in September 2008 and reveals that the system would use near field communications technology. Your iPhone or iPod would be simply swiped allowing you to enter the concert or event.

Rumor is that if you like the show and are a female, you can also use your iPhone to digitally throw a pair of panties not onstage, but from your iPhone to the band’s iPhone. Okay, I made that part up, but it certainly opens up some interesting possibilities.

Infinite USB Connector concept

Posted in USB by Conner Flynn on March 22nd, 2010

Here’s a simple but very cool USB plug concept design. Why no one has thought of it before, we don’t know. It should certainly solve the problem of running out of USB ports on laptops. This USB connector has both the male and female connectors, so you can daisy-chain several together and live happily ever after in USB toy land.

Of course, they would get unstable very quick once several are plugged in. The color coding is a nice feature though. This could be very useful.

Buffalo Lipstick USB flash drive

Posted in USB Flash Drives by Conner Flynn on March 17th, 2010

When a company wants to appeal to women, they go straight to mimicking makeup colors and design. In this case they have dressed up a flash drive to look like lipstick. Males will be adverse to this one like a Vampire faced with a cross.

But women might dig it. So Buffalo is targeting females with the RUF2-JWS series of flash drives. It comes in 4GB or 8GB sizes and in four different colors, including Rich Brown, Glossy Pink, Royal White, and Shiny Coral.

Posted in GPS by Conner Flynn on January 18th, 2010

Despite the obvious over-the-top female design, (just look at that heart) it does have some useful features. You have your usual navigation options, plus a pedestrian navigation option. Although it will cost you about $10 per city for the cityXplorer maps.

80 percent of female console gamers choose Wii

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on November 27th, 2009

80 percent of female console gamers choose WiiIf choosy moms choose Jif, than choosy female gamers apparently choose the Wii. Nintendo recently did some info checking and it turns out that the Wii is outperforming its rivals when it comes to female gamers. According to its estimates, 80 percent of the female console gaming crowd prefers Wii over the alternatives.

There are an estimated 11.7 million female console gamers in the Americas, but keep in mind that this data doesn’t take into account DS owners or PC users. However this figure adds up to roughly nine million ladies. In related news, men are now encouraged to approach women only in 480p mode, displaying cartoony graphics, with no good titles to your name. This apparently woos the ladies.
