Very Convincing Fake Nintendo DS Lite Purchased On eBay

Posted in Nintendo DS by Reuben Drake on May 12th, 2011

That DS Lite above looks pretty genuine right? That’s what the buyer thought too when he purchased it on eBay. When he opened the package he knew something was wrong. The corrugated cardboard box was the first suspicious giveaway. Then on the back of the box there was pixelated English text.

When he opened the package he found that yes it was a fake, however, it still played DS and GBA games in their proper slots. The surface of the system has some small pockmarks, which is not up to Nintendo’s high quality assurance standards and the inner bezel is also discolored.

Pure's Elan II digital radio does Pause and RewindPURE just launched the Elan II DAB/FM radio. Aside from the fact that it looks like a retro domestic radio, the most interesting aspect is that you can pause and rewind it. You can store and then play back certain broadcasts like traffic reports or sports scores.

If you press pause, the Elan will do a fake pause and stop playing out loud and record up to 30 minutes of any live digital radio broadcast. Just unpause it and listen to the end of the radio show. Intellitext and textSCAN lets users pause and control the scrolling text.

New Apple phone is not what you think

New Apple phone is not what you thinkWe’ve seen our share of Apple clones and rip-offs, but on this one, they’ve taken the Apple name way too literally. I mean, it’s shaped like an apple, has buttons in the shape of apples, flips open like a sliced apple and so on and so on.

It’s from Apple, we get it. Only it’s not. Some of the craptastic specs include: quadband GSM support, a 2″ display, dual SIM, integrated FM radio, TXT file reader, a digital camera and support for a maximum of 10 languages.

Xbox 360 line to be reduced to Arcade and Elite?

Xbox 360 line to be reduced to Arcade and Elite? Some leaked packaging images suggest that only two models of the Xbox 360 will be available in the future. Depicted in the above photo are current and planned boxes for the 360 Arcade; the latter box lists only one other 360, the 120GB Elite.

The Pro, in production since 2005, is MIA. It’s typically the best-selling Xbox system. The photo backs up earlier reports that Microsoft is phasing out the Pro. Game bundles may help clear out earlier stock, after which the Elite’s price is expected fall to that of the Pro in September.

UK warns buyers of fake imported DS handhelds

Posted in Nintendo DS by Conner Flynn on December 5th, 2008

UK warns buyers of fake imported DS handheldsHM Revenue & Customs has released an official report warning that “hundreds of imported counterfeit game consoles seized at UK freight depots were found to have been supplied with potentially dangerous power adapters.” Most of the consoles had been purchased at a huge discount from Asian websites that claimed to sell “genuine Nintendo products” for over 50% off. Yes, these fakes can kill you.

Nintendo has already confirmed that the DS / DS Lites are counterfeit, and the included power adapters were also labeled “potentially dangerous, since they had not been electronically tested and do not meet strict UK safety standards.” The moral of the story is that parents need to stop buying their kids these cheap-ass imitations.

UroClub: Golfing with a pee iron

UroClub: Golfing with a Pee iron
We all know that Golf is a game for old men with weak bladders and young men who drink too much. It all adds up to a long day and alot of peeing in the rough. But if you want to be lazy about it, why bother leaving the green at all? Urologist Floyd Seskin went above and beyond the call of urine duty by making this possible. How you ask? It’s simple.

Just place a towel over your stuff and unscrew the cap of this club that looks like a 7-iron, and relieve yourself as fast as you can, so you don’t get caught. It will hold up to a half liter. Now, I’ve never measured my own homebrew so I have no idea how much to expect. I just know that it would suck to get a bunch of sprayback all over me. The upside of this fake iron is that it feels good to relieve yourself. The downside is that to everyone else it just looks like you’re going to town on a 7 iron behind a towel.

Hardbox external drive case hardcover books

Hardbox external drive case hardcover books
These Hardbox external drive cases should come in pretty handy. For one thing, we all know that having books around makes you seem smarter. Plus, if some thieves happen to break into your house, they just might be stupid enough to think it’s a real book. Nobody wants to steal those.

The enclosure supports 3.5 inch SATA I or II drives and connects to your PC via USB. There’s no fan, instead it uses the fake page detailing on the edges as a heat sink, keeping it extremely quiet. The power supply is built-in so the AC cord doesn’t need a large transformer, but that does add to the enclosure’s size. It has a physical write protection switch on the back, and a ‘Backup’ button for manually starting a backup of your data. At $300, you better hope a burglar isn’t into classic literature.
