Jakks Pacific has some of the coolest gadgets for kids around. The company offers the EyeClops Mini Projector that connects to a TV to project games and other images on the wall or ceiling. The coolest gadget is the EyeClops Night Vision Goggles.

EyeClops Mini ProjectorWe talked a bit about the EyeClops Mini Projector earlier this month. You may recognize the EyeClops name as a line of high-tech toys for older kids that includes a cool set of night vision goggles and a microscope.

When we first spoke of the projector, the pricing was stated at under $100. Today Jakks Pacific announced the official pricing of the projector of $99.99, a whole penny under $100. Jakks is still not giving us a specific launch date for the projector.

EyeClops mini projector for kidsKids have it good today. I don’t think we had any cool projectors when I was a kid. This one is from toymaker Jakks Pacific and looks pretty neat. It’s expected to be at next week’s Toy Fair in New York.

There aren’t any full specs available yet, but we know that it will project a 70-inch image via LED, and it can be hooked up to the other gadgets your kid owns, like DVD players, cameras, and game consoles. What’s interesting is the price. The device is expected to sell for under $100, which is much cheaper than the adult versions we enjoy.

ALCNON humanoid bot picks on bots not quite it’s own size

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on November 13th, 2008

In the video above, this gigantic ALCNON humanoid robot picks a fight with a miniature opponent, showing off a combination of his swift punches and dance moves. The little bot is pretty scrappy and comes at him again and again, sadly to no avail. It’s all pretty sad, yet strangely satisfying.

Despite ALCNON having a name that sounds like a substance abuse meeting, he’s presumably pretty adapt at picking on robots his own size, not that you’d know it from this video. He sports a creepy cyclops eye, and two pincers for hands. ALCNON was a big star at the recent ROBO-ONE robot battle in Japan.

Night Vision Goggles get affordable, pervs rejoiceNight vision used to be something that we all wished we could use. But in order to use it, one had to afford it, which was impossible in days gone by. But nowadays anybody can get in on the fun, whether you are out in the woods hunting or engaging in extremely pervy activities.

With this pair of EyeClops Night Vision Goggles you see up to 50 feet in pitch black darkness, and it has a flip up eye piece in case the lights get turned on. You’re going to want to have a bunch of spare AA batteries on you though as it takes up to 5 of them. A very affordable $90. By the way, it’s not cool or normal to stare at sleeping people in the dark. Just so you know. Stop being a perv and use this gear to catch bigfoot or something.

Cyclops Visor won’t help you land Jean Grey

Cyclops Visor won’t help you land Jean Grey
Here’s something you don’t see everyday. It’s a replica of Scott Summers’ visor from ThinkGeek and it’s “authentically duplicated from the actual 20th Century Fox filming prop.” The cool part is that they double as shades with an iridium sunglass lens.

However if you feel that you need to wear this so as not to blast those around you with your powerful eye beams, you may in fact be the real cyclops and should go look for Professor X immediately. It’s available from Thinkgeek for $74.99 and comes with an all metal display box. Soon, you’ll be competing with Wolverine for Jean Grey’s affection.

JORDY Magnification headset

Posted in Outdoors by Conner Flynn on June 12th, 2008

JORDY Magnification headsetYou know Scott Summers, the dude from the X-Men? Yeah, this is his grandmother. Apparently, they share the same mutant gene, resulting in cyclops eyewear. Actually, this is the JORDY. (Joint Optical Reflective Display) A head-mounted magnifier from Enhanced Vision that let’s those with poor vision see objects at a distance. Great for race tracks and the like, making granny really stand out in her final years.

The thing has 4 viewing modes, full-color, black and white, high-contrast positive and negative. A 30x magnification, but you can get 50x with the optional desktop, auto-focus with digital zoom too. The name was clearly inspired by Geordi LaForge, the visor wearing Enterprise crew member. That being the case, you’d think they could have streamlined this thing a bit.

EyeClops gives your kid night vision

EyeClops gives your kid night vision
Kids today have much cooler toys then we had when I was growing up. Take the EyeClops for example. It basically gives your kid some for real high-tech spy cred. Even kids can be James Bond these days, with some amazing gear.

This isn’t just your typical crappy flashlight attached to a helmet, not at all. It uses an infrared imager and LCD monocle which will let you spy on others in even the darkest of settings. You can even get an EyeClops BioniCam if you want to take pictures, which is the same thing, but with a digital camera. Both retail for $80 when they hit stores this fall. Just make sure your kid doesn’t catch you doing anything you don’t want seen. Blackmail sucks.

SightMate: world’s first portable video magnifier

SightMate
At first glance, you’re thinking you would never wear these right? It’s not all that dorky. Looking like Cyclops from the X-Men might just score you a hot Jean Grey. It’s not meant to be a fashion accessory anyway. The SightMate LV920 from a company called Eyetonomy is a wearable device that’s designed to correct poor eyesight for those suffering from serious visual impairments.

The system has a 2-megapixel camera with a 3x zoom situated between the eyes, which provides images on twin 640×480 displays that can be tilted up to 15 degrees for comfort. The headgear comes with a remote to control magnification and other features and it only weighs 8 ounces. It can also help those who are color blind.
