Century External HDD Enclosure With Cooling Fan And LCD Display

Century has unveiled a new external HDD enclosure that features a cooling fan and an LCD display. It goes by the name of Century CLS35EU3BF. This 3.5-inch SATA HDD enclosure has an 8cm fan that is powered by a USB 3.0 cable.

The LCD display gives you important information about the drive, like temperature and the fan speed to make sure all is as it should be. The Century CLS35EU3BF USB 3.0 external HDD enclosure will cost you about $62.21.

Century’s latest external HDD case comes in the form of the CWRS2LCD-BK. It’s an external hot-swappable hard drive enclosure with cooling fans, heat sensors and an LCD display that shows the information right on the front of the case. What more do you need?

It measures 149mm x 185mm x 42mm and weighs 700 grams. This enclosure allows for hot-swapping hard drives just by opening the front panel. The Century CWRS2LCD-BK will arrive in early November.

New Acer Veriton Z410G All-in-one

Acer is set to release an updated version of its Veriton Z280G all-in-one PC. The Veriton Z410G is powered by the Pentium E5700 processor and features 2GB DDR3 SDRAM, a 320GB hard drive and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500.

The Acer Veriton Z410G also sports a high-definition 21.5-inch LCD display for brilliant images with its 16:9 aspect ratio, a 5ms response time and full HD 1920×1080 resolution. The system also comes with 8 USB 2.0 ports and an eSATA port for transferring data to an external hard drive.

Nokia Star Trek Communicator

You probably already know that Nokia had some product placement in the latest Star Trek, but Nokia also made a few never-released prototypes for the movie. The beautiful “Starfleet Communicator” above apparently one of only 14 units made by Nokia, is intended to look like the comms of the original TV series.

It’s based on the N76 and comes with an external LCD and a trio of lights on front, with the familiar brass grill. It’s a fully functioning phone that really chirps when you flip it open. How awesome is that?

Olympus offers new E-5 DSLR for photography pros

I just mentioned that Samsung has unveiled a new digital camera today called the NX100. Olympus has also rolled out a new digital camera with its profession DSLR called the E-5. The DSLR camera has some cool features like a magnesium body that is rugged.

The body of the camera is splash resistant and dust proof making it capable of surviving lots of outdoor use. The DSLR has a 12.3MP image sensor and has a rear LCD that swivels for shooting pictures using Live View. The E-5 also has a 100% field of view optical viewfinder in addition to Live View mode.

Fujitsu Lifebook AH530 GFX with 1GB external graphics

Fujitsu has announced the Lifebook AH530 GFX. It’s a good looking update to Lifebook AH530. This one has an external graphics card with 1GB of dedicated video memory. Aside from that, you’ll find that it shares the exact same specs as the previous model.

That includes a 15.6-inch glossy LCD, optional Core i3, i5, or i7 CPUs, up to 8GB of RAM and up to 500GB HDD, Blu-ray or DVD drives, and an HDMI output. You’ll also get WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, three USB 2.0 ports, VGA output, and gigabit ethernet onboard.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100 High-speed Superzoom Camera

Panasonic has just announced the Lumix DMC-FZ100, their latest model in the FZ-Series of Lumix digital cameras. Some features include a tilt-and-swivel 3-inch LCD display, a built-in eye-level electronic viewfinder (EVF), and a hot shoe that supports external flash or a microphone.

Expect this one to be launched in August for about $500. Some specs include a 14-megapixel CMOS sensor, RAW shooting, Venus Engine FHD image processor, Support for 1080p AVCHD Lite video capture, 11fps burst shooting, 3-inch swivel LCD display and a 24x optical zoom.

Samsung launches LD220G and LD190G displays for laptops

samsungld220gOne of the worst parts about working on a laptop for an extended period at your desk is that the laptop tends to have a much smaller screen than your average desktop computer. Samsung offered some external LCDs aimed at laptop users in Korea earlier this year called the LD220 and LD190.

Today Samsung announced that the LD220G and the LD190N LCDs were available in America. The monitors are 22-inches and 19-inches respectively and have a stand that leans more like you find on a digital photo frame than your typical LCD. The 220G connects to the notebook via USB and has a built-in USB hub.

allin4-sbIn theory, an all-in-one PC is a good way to save space and get a cleaner looking desktop. The reality is that for some users an all-in-one won’t do the job since most of the new ones being introduced are base don’t the Intel Atom. Gamers need not apply.

A company called CTL has announced an all-in-one PC that’s really more of a normal LCD with a holder on the back for an external Intel Atom-powered system. That means that you have a choice of monitor sizes from 17 to 23-inches and the machine can have an optional DVD drive.

Canon unveils three new photo printers

Canon unveils three new photo printersToday Canon introduced three new photo printers with some new features that you’ll appreciate. First up is the PIXMA MP560, which is an all-in-one inkjet with duplex printing, photo correction and Wi-Fi. It also features a USB port for printing directly from external storage. It’s capable of printing 4″ x 6″ prints in grayscale at a rate of 9.2 images a minute and 6 images per minute in color. Price should be $150.

Next up is the MP490, which lacks some of the above features like USB printing, duplex and Wi-Fi. It also has a slower printing rate and a 1.8-inch LCD screen. This one will run you $100.

Dynamism offers new Viliv X70 MID

vilivx7-sbNetbooks are wildly popular today and odds are many of your friends have them. If you want to be different and stand out from the pack, albeit in a less functional way, a MID might be for you. Sure, they lack a real keyboard, but with Bluetooth, you can carry and external with you.

Dynamism has unveiled a new MID with a tablet form factor called the Viliv X70 series. The device is a touchscreen tablet that runs on netbook internals with an Intel Atom CPU running at 1.33GHz. The MID has a 7-inch WSVGA LCD with a resolution of 1024 x 600 and haptics touch feedback technology.

Jointech JE100 ebook reader with 7-inch touchscreenJointech has announced their new JE100 ebook reader, a 7-inch device that uses an LCD touchscreen instead of an e-ink display. Based on Windows CE 5.0, the Jointech JE100 will not only boast Mobipocket Reader, MSReader and eReader support, but also likely play back video and audio files together with viewing and editing Microsoft Office documents.

Inside it features a 400MHz CPU, 128MB of flash memory and 64MB of RAM. Transflash cards up to 4GB in capacity can be used to boost storage, and it rocks two USB ports: one a host, for plugging in external peripherals and the other a slave, for hooking up the JE100 to a computer where it presumably mounts as an external drive.

Being a big fan of computers and gadgets, my desk is full of old notebook and desktop hard drives and sticks of RAM. The OCZ Neutrino is billed as a DIY netbook and if you are the type who builds your own PCs, it’s not nearly as DIY as you are used too. The machine lacks storage, RAM and an OS.
