Cabestan Nostromo watch is full of gears

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on March 16th, 2010

The Cabestan Nostromo watch is one of those watches that you stare at in amazement and picture all of those gears turning. It was inspired by the ship from the Alien movie, hence the name. The Nostromo combines traditional watchmaking with “retro-futuristic audacity”‘

I can only assume that that describes the titanium case and Superluminova phosphorescent coating. You know this one is going to cost you quite a bit.

Double-Axis Tourbillion watch is mysterious, amazing

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on March 4th, 2010

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen a watch as amazing as this one. Amazing doesn’t even do it justice. In fact, the more you look at it, the more it mesmerizes you. Thomas Prescher’s Double Axis Tourbillon is completely empty of everything except the tourbillon, which is just hovering in the center, suspended by a thin wire.

Only the time, Tourbillon, calendar and oscillating weight are visible. The movement is completely hidden inside the bezel, and it’s powered by the oscillating weight at the top. You can’t help but stare at this thing for way too long.

It specifically goes after images and claims to be able to find them even after they’ve been deleted. The Stick works by scanning your photos for signs of naughtiness, dirtyness and filthiness by looking for exposed flesh, suggestive curvatures and “body part separation.”

Glow in the dark toilet paper

Posted in Home by Conner Flynn on February 21st, 2010

Or as we like to call these glowing rolls: Light wipes. We told you about glow in the dark tp back in August, but since the blogosphere seems to think this is a new thing, and since you may not have seen this before, we thought we would revisit this amazing development in luminescent wiping technology.

It’s great if you are wiping your crack in the dark, sure. But during a power outage it can actually help you find your toilet. Surely it’s safe to wipe with something that glows like radiation.

Origin Eon 18 gaming laptop

Posted in Notebooks by Conner Flynn on February 19th, 2010

After Dell bought Alienware in 2006, three execs decided to quit so that they could create their own company, Origin, and make high end gaming PCs like Alienware. Their first endeavor is finally here and is dubbed Eon 18. It’s a stylish and highly customizable gaming laptop with an 18.4″ full HD widescreen display, dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 208M GPUs, 7.1 high-def audio, and up to three 250GB SSDs.

It sure looks like Alienware, just without the alien logo. Right now it has a Core 2 Extreme Quad QX9300, but on Monday it will get a Core i7. Don’t expect much battery life with those specs. Only 45 minutes when gaming unplugged.

Both feature Android 2.1, Freescale processors, 720p output over HDMI, FM tuning and broadcasting, and the ability to act as a universal remote when you are just chillin.
