Elecom’s Nano SSD is a mini Solid State Drive hardisk that can be installed directly on your computer’s motherboard so that it’s out of your way. It measures just 25mm x 6.5mm x 39mm and supports Serial ATA Revision 2.6 specifications and delivers a high speed data transfer.

It’s priced at 13,900 Yen or about $165. You can get the Elecom Nano SSD in 8GB and 16GB storage capacities.

Samsung Galaxy U and Galaxy K for South Korea

What do we have here? Pictures of the Galaxy U have surfaced of the device spooning the Samsung Galaxy S. SK Telecom already offers a version of the Galaxy S, but now its competitors LG U+ and KT are both working on variants of their own, called Galaxy U and Galaxy K.

The name is similar to the Galaxy S, but not the screen size. Both feature slightly smaller displays, measuring 3.7-inches. These should be arriving between August and September.

LG Optimus Z smartphone hits South Korea

LG’s latest smartphone to hit South Korea is the Optimus Z. It will be available from local carriers SK Telecom and KT. The device runs Android 2.1 with the option to upgrade it to 2.2 before 2011. Performance should not be a problem thanks to its 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Each purchase also gets you a couple of 1,350mAh batteries so you can keep your phone juiced while traveling. The body measures just 11.05mm thin. The Optimus Z is definitely sexy in matte-finish metal as well.

OlivePad VT100 Android tablet hits India

OlivePad isn’t something they crush olives on to make olive oil. It’s a new android tablet from Olive Telecom of India. The OlivePad VT100 is the first 3G Android-powered tablet to hit the market in that part of the world. It arrives there in August.

Some features include integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a 3-megapixel camera with a front camera, a 7” TFT multitouch display, 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, GPS navigation support, e-book reader compatibility, voice and video calls, a miniUSB port and Web browsing with Flash support.

India may ban Blackberry, Skype and Gmail

Odd as it seems, the Department of Telecom in India could ban BlackBerry devices, Skype and even Gmail services if those services won’t comply with the government’s request to ensure that data going through their networks will be made available to security agencies in a readable format. Good luck with that.

The powers that be in that part of the world have also decided to amend the IT laws, making it compulsory for foreign companies, as those that do not require a local license, to provide all the data required by Indian law enforcement agencies.

EKING S515 MID priced, shipping this monthThe rebranded DigiCube Z8 MID phone aka the EKING S515 MID phone is ready to hit the market later this month in China. It runs on an Intel Atom 1.2GHz processor and packs a 16GB SSD, 1GB RAM and a 5″ WVGA touchscreen display. It will be available from Amazon China and will retail for $669. It ships starting tomorrow.

It’s said to be compatible with three of the country’s 3G networks, but only the China Telecom-flavored device is currently available at Amazon China.

Elecom launches new headphones for fashionistasElecom is hitting the headphones market with a colorful one-two punch with the release of the EHP-OH100 series otherwise known as “Sundries Contrast”. They are available in a variety of 7 different colors, are of questionable fashion and feature a 30mm driver unit, a 30 Ohm impedance, an output of 104dB/1mW and works on a 20Hz to 20kHz frequency.

They’ll cost you around $56. You can just see the meeting that birthed these. “Colors. People love colors. Yeah and what if they fold? Users love to fold stuff. Who doesn’t like to fold? Play up the fashion angle.”

Orange UK to Sell Apple’s iPhone Later This Year

Orange to sell the Apple iPhone in the UKFrance Telecom’s Orange announced on Monday that it will start selling the iPhone in the UK later this along with Telefonica’s O2. O2 has previously had exclusive rights to sell the iPhone in Britain however the contract is set to expire.

Orange announced that both the 3G and the 3GS versions will be available to UK customers later in the year, but gave no more details of exact dates or expecting pricing for the handset or plans.

The Elecom M-SP1UR/ M-SP2UR optical mouse features 800dpi resolution and weighs just 65-grams. It won’t clean anything and it just smells like plastic, but if you are a fan of soap, hey why not. It’s available in three colors and retails for 2000 Yen or about $21.

Mid-range Samsung clamshell unveiledSamsung has unveiled another clamshell model series that will surely get attention. We’re talking about the SCH-W830 for SK Telecom and SPH-W8350 for LG Telecom. The round external display is a real eye-catcher and looks awesomely retro and futuristic at once. And it measures just 13.4mm thin.

The phone also includes a button dedicated to opening the phone so you won’t break a sweat with such chores. Some other specs include a 2.6″ QVGA display, 2-megapixel camera, integrated media player, subway system maps, Bluetooth, microSD memory card slot and an SOS function.
