magellanroadmate1470-sb1Magellan is a big name in the GPS industry and offers everything from hand held GPS devices to automotive GPS. GPS is much better than having to dig out an atlas or map to find your way around a city and is even useful if you know the city well thanks to traffic updates.

Magellan announced a new GPS device called the RoadMate 1470 today that features the OneTouch menu. The 1470 has a 4.7-inch LCD that is touch sensitive and includes maps of the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.

The source of this information was Sony itself in a press release the company said, “Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) today announced that it has been recognized by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences with a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award for the PlayStation computer entertainment system’s Sixaxis wireless controller.”

2006 warmest year on record2006 was notable for the Wii, the PS3 and the temperature. Government scientists are reporting that 2006 was the warmest year on record since record keeping started in 1895.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) through its National Climatic Data Center collected temperature readings from 1200 weather stations around the contiguous US. They found that the temperature was 2.2 degrees higher than the mean temperature for the last century.
