OtterBox Commuter Series for iPhone 4 now in new summer colors

It’s summertime and so OtterBox has just announced a new addition to its Commuter Series cases for the Apple iPhone 4. The cases now come in some new colors, not just the regular black and yellow. Now you can get them in black and blue as well.

The OtterBox is made using multiple layers to keep your gadget safe and secure, has a screen protector that protects your display, a silicone jacket to absorb shock, and a polycarbonate shell. The summer style Commuter Series cases for the iPhone 4 are $34.95.

J K Rowling unveils Pottermore and DRM-free Harry Potter ebooks

For the last few days, a “Pottermore” website by J K Rowling has been the subject of scrutiny, with speculation that a Harry Potter smartphone was coming. Well, Pottermore is actually a website set up by J K Rowling and Sony, where the author will put up some ebooks (DRM free) of the Harry Potter series for sale as well as audiobooks, which will be available in several languages.

The website will be launched in October, with registrations starting on the 31st of July.

SteelSeries Diablo III Headset and Mouse

SteelSeries has just unveiled the Diablo III mouse, headset and mousepads. The Diablo III headset features the same retractable microphone, overhead suspension design and 50mm drivers as the Siberia V2, but it has a few design tweaks thrown in.

The Diablo III headset is priced up at $119.99 and comes with a matte-black finish, in-line volume and mute controls, a braided cord and some neat ‘demon red’ illuminations thanks to 18 LED lights. The Diablo III mouse features 7 ergonomically positioned buttons, a laser sensor with up to 5,000 CPI and also has the ‘demon red’ illuminations. If you want you can also remap the seven buttons. Samsung Launches ‘Smart View’ App

Samsung has just released the Smart View app for the Samsung Galaxy S II which allows users to stream images and videos from their TVs onto their phone. So now you can watch what you want anywhere. In bed, outside even in the bathroom if you so desire.

It works with the Samsung Smart TV transmitting the data over WiFi, while the phone uses the app to receive the video. You can also make use of any Smart TV apps that have been installed on the TV for added functionality on your Galaxy S II phone. The Samsung Smart View is available on the Android Market for the Samsung Smart TV D7000, D8000, and D9500 series. Right now the Samsung Galaxy S II is the only phone that supports it, but Samsung is planning to release it for the Galaxy player (YP-GB70) in July, the original Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab later this year.

Creative WP Series Folding Bluetooth Headphones

Creative is living up to it’s name as usual, having just announced a new line of headphones named the WP Series, designed specially for mobile phone users who want superior voice quality for calls and the best audio playback for music. It will be arriving in stores this month and during September 2011 as well.

These headphones are Bluetooth compatible and there are three models: the WP-450, WP-350 and WP-250. All can be folded for easy storage and portability, and will deliver about 8 hours of playback and 9 hours of talk time. The Creative WP350 incorporate an invisible microphone and the WP-250 have an in-ear design. The WP350 is £89.99 and will be arriving in May, the other models will arrive in September. The WP450 is £119.99 and the WP250 is £59.99.

Kenwood outs C-414 iPhone/iPod Compact Audio System in Japan

Kenwood has introduced a new Compact Audio System in the C-414 Series, which features an FM Radio tuner, CD player and a dedicated iPhone/iPod dock. The dock comes packed with DTS Envelo Technology, which allows direct access to your music library.

This dock will also play music through an SD card or USB port. You can expect it to arrive on the Japanese market in your choice of silver, pink and white for $329. Looks pretty sweet.

Samsung’s Chat 350 Phone

Samsung will update it’s Chat series phone with a QWERTY addition called the Chat 350. This phone is heavily influenced by the chunky Samsung Champ 3300. They are both thick.

Some specs include a 4 inch QVGA touchscreen display (No OLED), Quad-band GSM connectivity without 3G, Bluetooth 2.1, music player, FM radio, 2MP camera, and MicroSD card support. It looks pretty lame as thick as it is. No word yet on pricing and availability.

Samsung 9 Series laptop unveiled

Samsung has unveiled their new 13.3-inch 9 Series laptop, which is said to be the “thinnest and lightest 13-inch notebook available.” The duralumin machine weighs just 2.89 pounds and measures .68 inches thick. The 13-inch MacBook Air, it’s competitor, measures 0.11 to 0.68 inches thick and weighs 2.9 pounds.

Samsung has jammed some power into that thin build. There’s no optical drive, but it does have Ethernet, HDMI, and USB ports and a headphone jack. Inside you’ll find a brand new Core i5 2537M processor, 128GB SSD, and 4GB of RAM.

Pioneer TF-FN2000 Minimalist Cordless Phone

Pioneer Japan has introduced a new series of compact cordless phones, dubbed the Pioneer TF-FN2000 series. This 2.4GHz cordless phone features an LED display, an answering machine, a call screening system and a hands-free mode. It certainly is unique looking.

The Pioneer TF-FN2000 delivers 6-hours of continuous talk time on a full charge and comes with a compact cradle and an ultra minimalistic handset. This device is available in black, white and red. It should be launched in Japan later this month.

Empire Brands to launch 3D series headphones at CES 2011

Sony Walkman S-Series goes Disney

Japan loves Disney. They also love Sony. So Sony has decided to cash on this with ‘Christmas gift boxes’. Included in the special gift box is the Sony Walkman S-Series ‘NW-S750/S750K’ that is Disney themed, a Minnie cell phone strap and a protective case imprinted with the famous mice.

If you love Disney, this may be for you. Sony has a version with speakers too, which will be made available in limited quantities in Japan for 17,800 Yen ($ 220) and $ 21,000 with speakers ($ 250).

Elecom announces a new series of external batteries for Smartphones

We have a ton of features in today’s smartphones and sadly that means more drain on the battery. It’s just a fact of life. As we can do more, battery life is sacrificed. Well, Elecom wants to help.

Tonino Lamborghini Spyder Series Luxury Phones

Here’s the latest addition to the ultra luxurious mobile handset market, the Tonino Lamborghini Spyder handset. The range is priced at $1781 to $2813 because they come with a 316L-grade stainless steel casing and a 2.2-inch (240 x 320 pixels) sapphire crystal scratch resistant LCD display.

Despite all of that, a 3MP camera with VGA video recording is the best they could do. It isn’t even 3G enabled but they are hand made and hand polished. A few models in the Spyder range are the S-670, S-680 and S-685 which are the higher end models with rose gold, gold and black/gold PVD finishes. The S-600 comes with DLC (Diamond-Like Coating) while the S-610 and S-620 have simple black PVD finishes.
