Posted in Google by Conner Flynn on September 14th, 2010

Microsoft’s Bing search engine has just overtaken Yahoo and is now in the second place spot for search engine’s in the US. That means it is now going to go up against Google, the top dog. At least according to The Nielsen Company.

In August alone, Bing grew from 13.6 percent to 13.9 percent of the US search market. Yahoo declined from 14.3 percent to 13.1 percent. While Google’s share went up from 64.2 percent in July to 65.0 percent. Google shouldn’t worry though. With Bing and Yahoo combined, their search share of 27.0 percent is still less than Google’s.

Umbrella dryer uses that rainwater to grow plants

Posted in Concepts by Shane McGlaun on July 30th, 2010

We don’t have to use umbrellas too often in my area, but when we do the floors in the house and at stores around town are very slippery thanks to all the water. If you live in an area where it rains a lot you will find this concept umbrella stand appealing.

The stand has these long green foam fingers that you slip your umbrella between. Those green foam fingers take the rainwater off your umbrella and use it in a very green way.

Posted in Samsung by Conner Flynn on July 15th, 2010

Check out this application if you own the new Samsung Galaxy S. The Road SMS is available exclusively through the Samsung Apps download store on the Galaxy S and will create an optical illusion of the handset being transparent by overlaying a QWERTY keyboard on top of a live view from the phone’s camera.

It allows you to text while walking, so you can pay attention and not walk into things, fall down an open manhole, get hit by a car or step in dog poop while texting.

It’s time for the next Call of Duty. Just like last year, Mad Catz is producing a bunch of licensed Black Ops peripherals for the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC to go along with the game. Above is the 360 controller, which features precision aiming, which is just a lowering of the analog sticks’ sensitivity when you want more precision.

You can toggle it by using the “combat” buttons on the controller’s back. The price should be just under $50 for the console pads and $100 for a Cyborg Rat PC mouse which comes with a 2GB USB dog tag.

Nintendo 3DS gets official

Posted in Nintendo 3DS by Conner Flynn on June 15th, 2010

At E3 today, Nintendo has made the 3DS official. The device looks sharp. At least the one they had on stage does. Looks a bit thicker, but we can’t be sure. There’s a 3D Depth Slider on the side to maximize or eliminate the 3D depth effect. The bottom screen is the only touchscreen, just like the original DS, but in this case with a 3.5-inch widescreen on top. There’s a slide pad for analog control and also an accelerometer and a gyroscope.

It sports a camera on the inside and two lenses on the outside for taking 3D photos with the device. But that isn’t it. The Nintendo 3DS is also capable of showing 3D Hollywood movies. The graphics look pretty sweet for a handheld, almost Wii-like.
