Make your own biodiesel at home safely

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on October 10th, 2010

If you want to make your own biodiesel at home, then this concept personal biodiesel processor is a safe and efficient way to go. It allows you to make an alternate fuel source right from the comfort of your home. Screw the big oil companies.

Just pour the necessary ingredients into the top and the device does the rest. The automated pumps, heating elements and thermostats take care of the entire process. A display shows you the current status. A pull-out tank collects the waste glycerin, which can be easily disposed of, or used for making soap.

Machine turns plastic back into oil

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on August 23rd, 2010

Plastics are an important part of our lives, but there are some environmental issues. That’s why the Japanese have come up with a machine that is capable of turning plastic back into oil that can be used to create gasoline, diesel, or kerosene.

That’s big time recycling there. The process can turn 1kg of plastic back into 1l of oil, which isn’t to shabby and it doesn’t even create any CO2 during the process. With this technique we can get far more out of our resources.

EATR robots are hungry

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on July 15th, 2009

EATR robots are hungryHere come the flesh-eating machines. The EATR project has hit a new milestone in the development of the reconnaissance bot, successfully coupling a steam generator with a compact biomass furnace. This means that it is possible for an autonomous machine to forage for and refuel itself with biomatter, otherwise known as our corpses.

They call it fuel versatility, as gasoline, diesel, and solar power may also be used. But our guess is that flesh tastes much yummier to robots. So run until you fall, at which time an EATR bot will finish you off for lunch. Humans USED to be the top of the food chain…

XR3 plug-in hybrid trike heads for production Are you ready for a futuristic ride that actually looks futuristic? The XR3 plug-in 3-wheeled hybrid was specially constructed to be as light as possible. It’s just a bonus that it also ended up looking as cool as possible.

It’s ready to enter production phase, and we can’t wait for it to hit the streets. The XR3′s “through-the-road hybrid system” allows for 200mpg. When it reverts to its 23 hp diesel engine it will achieve 125 mpg, which is pretty good too. If you run out of fuel, the li-ion battery pack will provide 40 miles.

Diesel DZ9044 watch shows time on the side

Diesel DZ9044 watch shows time on the sideIt might be hard to use this watch at first. You are used to taking a quick glance at the watch face to see the time, but that won’t help here. The watch face is on the side, showing you the current time in up to four different time zones.

Is it practical? Not really. It’s more of a watch for those who want to be different. Also maybe for those who want to keep the time selfishly to themselves. It’s available in durable solid stainless steel with a black ion-plated finish and a matching black leather band.

Tesla unveils Model S electric family car

Posted in Automotive by Shane McGlaun on March 27th, 2009

teslamodels-sbElectric vehicles have a lot of appeal to many drivers. You can charge them from the AC outlet in your home and never have to hit the gas station again. Electric cars are also better for the environment than gasoline and diesel vehicles. The problem is that most electric vehicles lack the range many drivers need in a car.

Tesla, famous for its Tesla Roadster, announced a new electric vehicle called the Model S. Unlike the two-seat Roadster, the Model S is a seven passenger electric vehicle that promises to take all passengers up to 300 miles per charge.

Wheelman ScreenWhen you think of actor Vin Diesel several different films probably come to mind, including some of his first work in the Fast and the Furious franchise. With video games quickly rivaling blockbuster films in sales, it’s no surprise to see familiar movie stars popping up in video games.

Yesterday I mentioned Need for Speed Undercover, which will feature massive hottie Maggie Q as a main character. Actor Vin Diesel is not only the main character in the Midway game set to hit store shelves on February 20, 2009 called Wheelman, he is producing the game as well.

Diesel 5-face watch for travelers

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on September 1st, 2008

Diesel 5-face watch for travelersFrequent travelers will likely appreciate this 5-face watch from Diesel, but to me it just looks like a lot of work. It sports five faces to handle different time zones, hence the name. You’ll have the time for LA, NY, London, Paris, and Tokyo, so anytime you visit those places you’ll have the time.

The only problem with this watch is that you might actually want to go somewhere else and know the time. In that event Diesel also has a smaller watch of the same type that lets you memorize which face corresponds to which place, instead of having them labeled. With five watch faces, another concern would be that each face must be really small or the whole watch too large. It will cost you $550 for the larger silver watch or $495 for the smaller unlabeled watch.

Diesel watches with OLED display

Diesel watches with OLED display
This may not be the first watch from Diesel that features an OLED display, but they have certainly upped their game. The display on the DZ7086 is a bit on the small side, but this watch looks retro-licious, with a bright dual-color screen with both blue and green OLED phosphors.

The watch face has 4 different animations which go off randomly when you push one of the buttons on the side. How about a genuine black leather strap attached to the display with stainless steel lugs? Complete with the Diesel logo for those that are brand loyal.

Diesel Multi Display watch looks tough
This new watch from the Diesel Signature collection has a huge dial and features a chronograph as well as four miniature movements. It’s actually pretty nice looking and appears to be rugged at the same time, sporting a black genuine leather strap and stainless steel case, with stainless steel plates and Diesel screws.

The gunmetal sunray dials have a black logo, texture and applied silver indexes as well as a Mohican head insignia. The case size is 45mm wide x 58mm length x 15mm in height. It will cost you a whooping $595 which might make your heart jump a tad, but hey it’s water Resistant up to 3 ATM. Looks like Diesel is not just expensive at the pumps, but for your wrist as well.

Four more years until you can have your jetcar

PAL-V flying carHere we are seven years into the new millennium and there isn’t a flying automobile in sight. Wasn’t the future supposed to look a lot more cool by now? If a European company is correct with their prediction we may have the means to turn your vehicle into a flying craft and in only four short years.

The design sketch is for the PAL-V, or Personal Air and Land Vehicle. Designed by Dutch-based inventor John Bakker the vehicle uses a Dynamic Vehicle Control system so that when it’s rolling on the ground using its three wheels it won’t go flipping off the road and when it’s flying in the air the gyroscope keeps the unit level.
