100,000 DROID smartphones sold in first weekend?

Motorola DROID official on Verizon: $199 November 6thLike a Jawa in the Tatooine sun, apparently Motorola managed to sell a whole bunch of DROIDs over the weekend. According to analyst Mark McKechnie at Broadpoint AmTech, they managed to move about 100,000 Droids during the opening weekend. Most stores moved at least half of their original shipments.

He also estimates that Motorola will sell one million Android-based phones in Q4 2009 alone (that includes the CLIQ). Looks like Motorola has something to celebrate.

Sure the launch has suffered a bit thanks to the DROID, but it’s MOTOBLUR you want right? All you need to do is find your nearest T-Mobile retail location and have $199.99 ready. Should be easy enough. Go get it.

Motorola CLIQ now available to T-Mobile customersT-Mobile is continuing its Android assault with the CLIQ. The MOTOBLUR-running, physical keyboard phone is now available for current T-Mobile customers for $199. New subscribers have no choice but to wait until November 2nd to get one.

T-Mobile announces Motorola Cliq pre-order start date

motorolacliqtmIf you are among the masses waiting for the new Motorola Cliq Android smartphone with Motorola’s new Motoblur interface to hit the market new details were offered today. T-Mobile has announced when the pre-orders for the phone will begin.

T-Mobile will begin offering the Cliq with Motoblur for pre-order on October 19. Customers interested in the Cliq can register for more information today. Existing T-Mobile customers can pre-order on the 19 and the pre-order period will end on November 1.

Motorola CLIQ headed to T-Mobile next month, $200 on contractIf you’ve been waiting with baited breath for T-Mobile’s pre-order page for Motorola’s first Android device, we have some news for you. The carrier has just announced plans that the CLIQ will be $199.99 on a two-year contract.

To refresh your memory, the handset features a QWERTY keyboard and a full touch screen display, along with integration with Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Gmail, and other email services.

There has been all sorts of anticipation built up around the Motorola event held on the 10th where the company debuted its new Android smartphones. Among the new phones was the Motorola Cliq with Motoblur.

The handset is powered by Android and will be a T-Mobile exclusive when it hits the U.S. this fall. The handset has a QWERTY keyboard that slides out and a full touch screen display as well. Motorola designed the phone for tight integration with Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Gmail, and other email sources. Motoblur provides access to these features without needing to open or close any applications.

cliquecam.jpgClique Communications thinks you might want to have a little fun with your Web cam besides prancing in front of it like an idiot. To that end the company is now making available the colorful, flexible CliqueCam.

The CliqueCam, which retails for around $100, comes in six colors. It has a goose neck design which allows you to position it in ways which some might find unsavory. You can also detach it from its base to take it with you. Power is supplied through USB and Clique claims this device can deliver “HD-like 1024×768 video at 30fps.”
