Gluvi – a condom for your remote

Posted in Accessories by Shane McGlaun on March 24th, 2010

Any parent will tell you that with kids around you are going to end up cleaning goo off the strangest places. I have had to clean peanut butter off the back of the refrigerator (don’t ask) and have spent more time than I care to talk about with a tooth pick and a paper towel trying to get chocolate out of the crevices of my Harmony One remote control.

A company called Gluvi has a new sanitary solution for remote controls that looks to me like a condom for your remote. The thing has an open end and slips over the remote to protect the keys from germs. I bet it works pretty well for keeping chocolate fingers away too.

The display reads “quietly brilliant new year”, so it was obviously a New Year’s gift. Looks like it is the same exact size of the real phone too.

The Christmas Truck

Posted in Automotive by Conner Flynn on December 9th, 2009

The Christmas TruckCentral Iowa has had many versions of the Christmas truck over the last 25 years. Here’s how it began. Kris Marshall was carrying a generator and some Christmas lights to his church in his $50 used truck. Much like peanut butter and chocolate, the two combined to create something awesome and The Christmas Truck was born.

It’s not high-tech. Just lights taped to the truck. During the day it looks horrible. At night, it’s amazing. Marshall has since used eight trucks and added dozens of strands. The truck is always a 2WD Chevy/GMC with a regular cab and eight-foot truck bed.
