iLuv will showcase some new products at CES 2008 on Jan. 7th. One of the coolest is the i399 audio system. The i399 BluePin 2.1 Channel Hi-Fi Audio System for the iPod is the first iLuv product that actually features the newest BluePin II technology, which offers the user more freedom from up to 300 ft. away. With the detachable BluePin II, users can choose to listen to music on Bluetooth headphones by sending music from another stereo Bluetooth device to the i399. Some other nice features include FM stereo radio capabilities, digital clock display and an auxiliary line input for 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation iPods as well as other audio devices.

The i399 promises a richer more true sound thanks in part to the patented jAura sound cell technology and a woofer built into its 2.1 channel speaker system. Another impressive capability is that the i399 can also do incoming and outgoing calls since it includes a speaker phone. Yet another nice touch is the rhythm-sensitive blue LED light. That’s always a nice touch.

If there was one universal remote to rule them all, this new Harmony model being introduced by Logitech at CES might just be it. The Logitech Harmony One is priced at around $250.

The Logitech Harmony One sports a 2.2-inch touchscreen on its slim body, letting you touch the appropriate activity button so the remote can do a variety of pre-programmed functions like turning on the television, home theater system and TiVo. You can also have the remote display icons of specified TV stations for quick access to favorite stations.

For those that want the easy way to connect their video-capable iPods to the television for video viewing, JVC has just announced from CES its new line up of P-Series LCD TVs with integrated iPod docks. These models have no specific pricing announced yet.

The new P-Series consists of the the 32-inch LT-32P679 (pictured), 42-inch LT-42P789, 47-inch LT-47P789 and the 52-inch LT-52P789. The LT-32P679 is a 768p model, while the others offer 1080p resolution. All sport an integrated iPod dock, letting users interact with an on-screen menu for selecting music or video. The included remote control offers a “circular keypad with a control scheme that mimics the iPod’s control wheel.”

Garmin is showcasing at CES the new flagship for its popular line of nüvi GPS devices. This model is known as the Garmin nüvi 880 and it is set to price at around $1,070.

The Garmin nüvi 880 has a long list of features to make even the most picky GPS users happy. To start off, advanced speech recognition technology, communicated to the 880 through a push-to-talk wireless remote, lets you activate a variety of voice commands which correspond to most common tasks on the unit. The Garmin nüvi 880 also draws upon the MSN Direct network to provide a variety of on-demand information points, including traffic, fuel prices, movie listings and news/stocks.

How would you like to be able to customize your earphones more to the style of listening you enjoy? That’s the idea behind the new SA6 in-ear earphones from Sleek Audio, being shown off at CES and priced at around $250.

The Sleek Audio SA6 earphones offers customization made possible by what Sleek Audio describes as “the marriage of loudspeaker technology and hearing aid science.” Features of the system this “marriage” has generated include interchangeable treble and bass ports, a single ultra-wide band balanced armature driver, “environmental sound control” and detachable swivel cables.

Sling Media, that cool company behind placeshifting technology for letting you watch your home video through the Internet, is back at CES this year with a new set top box. It’s called the Slingbox PRO-HD and it’s priced at around $400.

The Slingbox PRO-HD lets one stream “HD content from a home television source, including over the air HD digital signals, HDTV cable or satellite receivers, or HD DVR’s, to a laptop or desktop computer in and around the house.” You can of course also stream HD outside of the house to remote locations as well. It is the only product in Sling Media’s family capable of streaming HD content.

So now that there are becoming more and more high quality movies, games and music available to download from the intertubes onto your computer, the next thing a person finds themselves needing (aside from getting that content over to their living room) is a higher quality display and sound system to take advantage of all this advanced media technology. This year at CES, Logitech is coming through with the sound portion of this equation by launching the Logitech Z Cinema surround sound system.

This new speaker system consists of just two satellite speakers (no rears) and a subwoofer along with what Logitech calls “SRS TruSurround HD” to put your desk chair in the middle of the surround sound action. The speakers have a 180W hybrid Class D + Class AB tri-amp, two-way satellite speakers and an 8″ subwoofer along with 24-bit audio via a USB connection. If for some reason you are unable to play your digital audio through the PC that the speakers are connected to, you can also just connect the player to an input jack to play directly through the speakers. Also, in the event that you don’t already have a media center remote control with your system, Logitech is throwing one is as well.

Say you have your PC connected to your television. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a small keyboard to help you control your PC entertainment? Logitech has your answer at CES – the new Logitech diNovo Mini, priced at around $150.

The Logitech diNovo Mini is a mini-keyboard which uses Bluetooth 2.0 technology to communicate with a linked PC. Through the diNovo Mini you can control Web and media functions like you were using a full keyboard. There’s a self described “ClickPad” which can be used either as a touch pad for mouse-like functions or as a directional pad to navigate and make selections. The ClickPad features as well two backlight modes.

Polk Audio is always known for bringing excellent products to the Consumer Electronics Show to show off. It has a new two-piece surround sound system set to unveil known as the Polk Audio SurroundBar 360 DVD Theater. It is priced at around $1,200.

The Polk Audio SurroundBar 360 DVD Theater has a “multichannel loudspeaker (44 1/2″ W x 4 7/8″ D x 4 1/8″ H) and a separate, compact electronics console (16 1/2″ W x 11 1/2″ D x 3 3/16″ H) that contains an integrated DVD/CD player, SDA signal-processing amplifier, AM/FM radio, and a host of digital, analog, USB, and video inputs.” That’s right from the horse’s mouth folks – all of that in a tight little design which will make you drool over its very cool looking gloss black enclosure.

iLuv, a maker of iPod accessories, revealed a number of interesting products as part of its CES 2008 line up. One of those is the new iLuv i1255, a sleek, desktop iPod/DVD player priced at around $130.

The iLuv i1255 lets you play control music from audio CDs, MP3 CDs and docked iPods via an included remote control. Dock adapters let you fit a variety of iPod models and the iLuv i1255 also lets you view iPod video on-screen. There’s also an on-screen display function for navigation of an iPod’s stored video and music files.

Xias is pushing out a variety of cool new products this year at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV. In addition to the online music service/media player announcement the company is also launching a couple of new stylish digital photo frames.

The XIAS 8” (PF-821WF) and 10” (PF-1021WF) Executive Digital Photo Frames both come in a wood grain outer frame that holds the actual 800×600 TFT LCD display which sits in a floating swivel display. The picture frames are both WiFi enabled although the release information doesn’t do a whole of explaining on what that means exactly. (We’re assuming it has to have something to do with getting a photo feed to the frame wirelessly from a computer.)

Norcent has a new 10 megapixel point and shoot camera debuting at CES this year as part of their new 50 series line up of shooters. The new Norcent DCS-1050 doesn’t have new industry shattering technology but does load some nice features and the ability to easily shoot photos at a resolution of up to 3648 x 2736 for a very reasonable $179.99.

The DCS-1050 has some facial recognition and anti-shake technologies which make taking decent looking photos relatively easy. It also has a nice-sized 3-inch TFT-panel color LCD and 4X digital zoom complimented by a 3x optical zoom. The camera can use MMC or SD cards and will need them since it only holds 16MB of internal, but once you have some space to spare the camera will also allow you to record voice to WAV files and record video to MPEG-4 in multiple choices of resolutions including 640 x 480, 320 x 240, or 160 x 120. Connection are available through either a common USB cable or through AV jacks on the camera.

XIAS is looking to tangle with the Apple iPod ecosystem as it brings to the Consumer Electronics Show its own new MP3 player and online music site. The new XIAS PV-4022 is set to price at around $110.

The XIAS PV-4022 is a 4GB flash memory based MP3 player which can hold and playback up to 1,000 WMA and MP3 music files. It will also be able to playback WMV video files on its 2.2-inch viewing screen. The PV-4022 sports an icon-based menu navigation system and will let you play/record FM radio and voice.

Sorting through the reams of CES related press releases coming at us right now turned up this rather interesting looking “enclosed play area specifically created to maximize the enjoyment of inter active media.” It’s known by its maker as a PlayPOD and it’s being targeted towards gamers who want their own dedicated space.

The PlayPOD is described by maker Gamecenter as a space where “gamers can now place in one piece of furniture a game console/PC, TV/monitor and all the included accessories, games and movies.” It has something of a Tron like look to it and, according to its development blog, may have a sound system integrated.

Digital Foci is another one of those little companies you don’t hear much about but which is always putting out new stuff. One of its more interesting offerings appearing at CES is its new Digital Foci Pocket Album OLED Series. These digital keychains come in 2.8-inch and 1.5-inch screen sizes and price at around $100 and $50 respectively.

The Digital Foci Pocket Album OLED Series is led off by the 2.8-inch model. This digital photo viewer with a wrist strap lets you store around 3,000 digital photos via its internal memory. You can manage photos via its internal file management structure and view images at a contrast ratio of 10,000:1. The 1.5-inch model is styled as a digital keychain and can hold 120 digital photos.
