Buffalo has recently added the LinkStation Pro Duo as one of the latest to their lineup of NAS products, targeting small or home businesses in need of an affordable and stable solution for large capacity data storage.

The Pro Duo currently comes in a 1TB configuration with the option of either RAID 0 or RAID 1 redundant 3.5″ SATA drives. It connects to your network via 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet as an Active Directory client and also has Buffalo’s Web Access technology allowing you to access data stored on the drive remotely from anywhere via the web. It even has included software that lets you start it up remotely.

Eton has launched a new hand-crank powered survival radio, the FR1000 at CES 2008. Obviously for survivalists scared about global warming and the rising cost of Hannah Montana tickets. It doesn’t help that the UFO’s will attack when no one is looking.

The new radio sports AM/FM/2-Way GMRS radio capabilities, complete with torch, emergency siren and mobile phone charger so you can still recharge your battery if Gremlins shut off the power.

According to IceRage a mouse is hardly just a user input device for you computer, but is also a fashion statement. Because of this the company is debuting two of its new mouse models at CES – the Pocket Mouse and the Ultimate Pocket Mouse – both of which are available this month.

The pocket mouse appears to almost ignore ergonomics in favor of a fashion model-like slender design that comes in colors of blue, pink, green, silver, white and of course the oh-so-slimming black. The Pocket Mouse works well for use with a notebook on the go and comes as either a USB wired (with a retractable cord) for $60 or can be wireless via Bluetooth for another $10. It features 800 dpi tracking, a complete lack of affinity for either hand over the other and is compatible with a PC or Mac.

Zyxel is using the Consumer Electronics Show to show off a new product it says is the first digital media adapter with built-in HomePlug AV Powerline technology. It is the DMA1100P and it prices at around $270.

The Zyxel DMA1100P works through a person’s power lines in the home to stream HD digital content to a home entertainment system from a computer or network storage devices. Zyxel says its digital media adapter will discover media files from DLNA supported devices, making them available for browsing and playback.

Soyo, a developer of consumer electronics products, is showcasing at CES a new line of televisions being branded under the venerable Honeywell label. These televisions are known as the Altura LCD HDTVs and will come in a variety of sizes ranging from 42 to 82-inches (damm!).

The Honeywell Altura LCD HDTVs share a variety of features in common, including full HD 1080p, SRS TruBass and TruSurround, Dolby Digital ProLogicII Sound and MTS/SAP, a/v stereo and a dynamic contrast ratio of 120,000:1. Among the many cool things Sony is showcasing this year at CES one of the smaller items not to be overlooked is the addition of a new style of Microvault USB flash drive. This new drive has a new “Sony”-style look to it with a flat black finish and a glowing Orange LED section towards the back end letting you know when the drive is connected and active.

The new USB 2.0 compliant Microvault comes in capacities from 1GB up to 16GB but probably the most significant feature of this otherwise uneventful USB drive is the clicking action. The is no cap to protect the USB connection because the connection will actually retract back into the case when the other side is clicked, much like a retractable pen. Clicking it again extends the connection for use in a number of compatible devices. Also, according to Sony, simply removing the flash drive will cause the USB connection to automatically contract. We’re guessing it’s due to friction when pulling out the connection.

IoGear has introduced a new audio system at CES which makes use of Powerline technology to move sound from one room to another. It’s called the IoGear Powerline Stereo System and price is set at around $330.

The IoGear Powerline Stereo System lets one connect an audio source such as an iPod or CD player to several different input types found on a docking station. Connecting a pair of powered speakers to the supplied adapter, one can transmit audio between the station and adapter over the home’s power lines.

Cobra Electronics has some designs on more GPS market share by showing off at CES its new NAV ONE 5000 GPS device. It is priced at around $510.

The NAV ONE 5000 sports a five-inch touch screen, showing “20 percent more of the road ahead compared to traditional widescreen navigation units” and “on-screen text that is 50 percent larger than the competition.” There’s also enhanced backlighting, speed and red light camera location alerts and the ability to locate over 800 brands on-screen via categories.

A company by the name of DnC Multimedia is showcasing at CES a new portable media player design it says is cutting edge. It’s not clear however whether the company will market this product on its own or let others brand it instead.

DnC Multimedia said some of its previous devices in the past have been “private-labeled by such companies as Microsoft, Samsung, LG, and Napster.” It says this new PMP it is offering for view by “retailers and licensing partners” is a multi-function model which is thinner than similar products. Mentioned features include playback of MP3 audio, playback of MPEG video, GPS and 801.11 wireless connectivity.

Logitech has revealed at CES a new keyboard-and-mouse combination which features its well regarded MX Revolution cordless laser mouse and a premium keyboard. It’s called the Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution and it is set to price at around $170.

The Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution features prominently Logitech’s MX Revolution mouse. It sports a special scroll wheel, among other features, which lets users either zip through Web pages and documents or lets them have precision movement through lists and such. It’s joined by a keyboard which has a built-in LCD screen to display information like ime and date, calculator, temperature, Web site favorites, a keystroke counter, e-mail updates and media information, such as band and song titles.

“Part manufacturer, part design house” IceRage is showing off in a remote corner of CES some new fashion computer mice which do a lot of different functions. The most geared up of these is the new Ultimate Pocket Mouse, priced at around $110.

The Ultimate Pocket Mouse is described by IceRage as “a desktop and hand mouse, laser pointer, and media controller, with a built-in cursor control and alpha numeric key pad for imbedding letters and numbers on the fly.” The mouse uses something called magneto-optical for tracking and is also Bluetooth enabled for wireless usage.

If you carry your personal data such as emails and contact information between multiple PCs, you know how much easier it would be if you could keep it synchronized between the different machines. Kingston Technology is unveiling a new USB flash drive at CES, the Kingston Data Traveler 400 (DT400), aimed at doing just that.

The Kingston Data Traveler 400 (DT400), available in storage capacities up to 8GB and starting pricing at around $31, is a USB flash drive which comes pre-loaded with with MigoSync data synchronization software from Migo Software. This software allows one to work among multiple PCs by directly synchronizing files, email and Internet browser settings onto the drive.

Storage Appliance is showing off at CES what it thinks is a simplified backup solution for everyone. It’s called the ClickFree platform, with the first product under this umbrella being the HD 700. It’s priced at around $150.

The ClickFree HD 700 is reportedly as simple as plugging the device into a USB port. The backup option “automatically launches, searches and backs up anything important without ever having to push or click a button.” Consumers can back up information from up to give PCs in this manner.

SanDisk has announced from the CES floor it has begun to provide samples of a 12GB microSDHC memory card to phone manufacturers for testing and evaluation. This 12GB capacity marks what SanDisk says is the world’s largest for mobile phone storage.

A 12GB microSDHC card represents around a 50 percent boost in storage capacity over SanDisk’s current 8GB card. The card reportedly can hold, for example, a combination of 1,500 songs, 3,600 photos and 24.5 hours of video.

Dell has revealed at CES a new 30-inch widescreen flat panel sporting the new DisplayPort standard of “digital visual performance and connectivity.” The Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP is set to price at around $2,000.

The Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP makes use of the DisplayPort standard endorsed by the Video Electronics Standards Association and is the first monitor commercially available to do so. The DisplayPort design is “a new digital interface standard that includes a USB-sized connector, double the scalable performance of DVI, and a unique architecture that enables new features.” Resolution on the 3008WFP is set at WQXGA 2560 x 1600.
