With plummeting CD sales, the music industry has been looking for ways to make more money, despite the fact that they still make a nice profit from the sales of digital media. In between counting their millions and crying crocodile tears, they found an ally in MediaStreet, who have announced the vAMP Virtual Album MP3 Player. It weighs just 0.7 ounces, and claims to be the “smallest, thinnest, fully functional MP3 player” They have high aspirations for it. MediaStreet intends for the vAMP to replace the CD.

Inside it has 1 GB of storage, which gives you room to put other songs on the vAMP as well as transfer the ones that are there to your computer.

NewerTech USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter

NewerTech USB 2.0 Universal Drive adapter connects SATA and IDE drives to your computer via USBWe’ve seen some pretty handy adapters to connect your internal drives, externally to your computer with things like the Stage Rack and this USB to SATA adapter but none of them match the convenience of the USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter from NewerTech. This adapter not only connects SATA drives to your computer’s USB port, but it will handle ATA/IDE drives as well.

Anytime I upgrade computers or just upgrade my drive I always keep the old one because inevitably a day will come where I want something off of it that I thought I would never need again. Opening up the computer case is a real pain and adapters like this are well worth the money in the time it saves alone. The adapter works with all 2.5″ laptop drives, 3.5″ desktop drives and will connect any existing 5.25″ drives such as CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs or removable Iomega Zip drives.

The Crosley Songwriter LP/CD Burner

Some of us are old enough to have not only CDs lying around, but cassettes and maybe a few vinyl LPs as well. Or God forbid, 8-Track tapes. Despite the fact that the cover art was superior on those old records, by now it is time to bring them up to date so you can enjoy them more easily and put them away for safe keeping.

The Crosley Songwriter may not help with 8-Track tapes, but it will let you burn an LP onto a CD in style and it takes only minutes. Not to worry, it’s also a three-speed record player, so you can still play your old records if you are feeling nostalgic. The device also burns cassettes into CDs as well. The design is the perfect blend of old and new style and will cost you $400. If you have a ton of rare cassettes and records that are not available on CD, it will pay for itself in no time while you preserve your music.

21st century compass from WayfinderLooking cool with a backlit “X-Files green” lcd display, this little device can replace that old style compass on your dashboard. They say that this updated version of the old explorers tool even has digital accuracy.

In the center, you’ll see the analog clock face that syncs with the atomic time broadcasts.
