Self-Publishing is easy with Amazon’s Digital Text Platform

Posted in Review by Conner Flynn on June 1st, 2010

Whether you own an ereader or not, chances are you’ve heard all about how self-publishing is easier today than it has ever been before, allowing authors to quickly and easily publish their work. And I’m here to tell you that it’s true. However many authors out there still haven’t taken advantage of it.

Maybe you don’t have the time to look into it, maybe you’re still getting over the sting from all of the rejection letters you got in the old days, with the old way of publishing. Whatever the reason, many times we hear about new and great ways to do things and it just goes in one ear and out the other. Probably because we think there has to be a catch.

Best Buy opens in UK, breaks global sales records

Posted in Best Buy by Conner Flynn on May 6th, 2010

Here in the states we take Best Buy for granted. Most countries still do not have their own Best Buys. Well, in the UK they have just opened their first Best Buy store last Friday. And Best Buy has seen its best-ever opening weekend sales since they first set up shop in 1983.

Best Buy’s first store is in Thurrock, Essex, which is East of London. So the Brits apparently love Best Buy. Electronics were flying off the shelves to sound of thousands of Cheerio’s and morning gov’ner and an occasional “This place is bollucks”

Domsai Terrariums make plants look like astronauts

Domsai Terrariums make plants look like astronautsImagine that you land on the moon and that you are just minding your own business, collecting rock samples and playing a round of golf, occasionally driving your rover. And you see plant people coming at you wearing spacesuits. Can you imagine the horror?

I can, thanks to these Domsai Terrariums, which make ordinary plants look like astronauts. Each of these Domsai Terrariums are unique since they are hand-cast and the glass bulbs are mouth-blown. That’s also why they are expensive. They’ll cost you $140. If you want the gold one, it will be an additional $360.

Samsung Jet with 800 MHz processor

Samsung Jet with 800 MHz processorThe Samsung Jet is a speed demon. It’s the Road Runner of cellphones. All others are just Wile E. Coyote. It clocks 800MHz and occasionally utters a beep beep as it passes other handsets in the market that have only just made it past the 500MHz mark.

Looks like cellphone processors are catching up with netbooks when it comes to MHz count. The Samsung Jet also features a Samsung six-sided Cube interface and a WebKit browser, dubbed Dolfin. No word on when it will hit the US, but chances are that AT&T will be the carrier.

Track racing grannies slot car set

Track racing grannies slot car set

Track Racing Grannies. Or as I like to call it Geriatric Kart racing. If you ever wanted to pit two elderly knitting machines against one another in a nail-biting slot car race, here’s your chance to see what happens. The only way this could possibly get any better is if they said things like, “Just a minute, let me count my change.” or if there were a few more “cars” on the track like old coots in rocking chairs maybe and nurses.

Basically, Edna and Betty are ready to race in their wheelchairs and on occasion careen off the track due to your need for speed. Each granny has an individual speed controller and the set will require 4 x AA Batteries (not included). The track measures 64.5 x 48 cm.
