PSP Go forces you to buy all-new accessories

Posted in PSP Go! by Conner Flynn on June 8th, 2009

PSP Go forces you to buy all-new accessoriesSony has a bunch of accessories that will be available for PSP Go when it hits US shelves on October 1. The usual stuff, like cases, wrist straps, Sony-branded screen protectors etc. Problem is the handheld doesn’t have a standard mini USB port like the PSP-3000, so you will have to buy all new accessories.

The PSP Go has a new multifunction port on its base that is used for everything, whether it’s data transfer, charging or video output. Asking owners of the older model to change a USB cable would have been fine, we think. But the fact that components like A/V cables, voice headsets and pretty much anything made to work with the 3000, are completely incompatible is a real slap in the face to PSP owners.

Handmade wood iPhone 3G casesLove Apple or hate them, I think we can all admit that the iPhone is one of the classiest looking phones. So why not class it up a bit more and add some sophistication in the form of a handmade wooden case? Etsy seller Substrat has created some really lovely cases. They’re all shaped and sanded to perfection and compliment your iPhone’s design. They will hold it snugly and keep it safe.

Sadly, you won’t be able to use any of the buttons. But that’s the price you pay for awesome looks. The price is about $84.99. These are probably the best wood iPhone cases we’ve seen yet.

They were created using Xbox 360 controllers, Happ joysticks and 14 buttons…in a pair of shoeboxes for cases. On the up side, Al Bundy has moved from women’s to men’s shoes. Sadly business is slow and this is the result. It beats spending time with the wife.

Asus Marine Cool concept motherboardMotherboards are always cool to look at, but soon Asus will be rolling out a brand new Marine Cool concept motherboard that is truly a sight to behold. The board will target hard core gamers and one of the main features is a brand new backplate with “micro-porous ceramic” technology, which is said to deliver quicker heat dissipation while improving the structural integrity of the board.

What this means is a better ability in handling overclocking, which gamers will love. The motherboard will also use a couple of SO-DIMM memory slots to save space for other components.

Live Luggage Hybrid PAWhen I travel I go light with nothing that I can’t fit in my two allowed carry-on bags. My wife on the other hand packs enough clothing and stuff that she uses one of those massive suitcases that you have to check. Despite the fact that I pack light, I end up pulling my wife’s massive bag through the airport.

Last year a company called Live Luggage announced a bag for people tired of schlepping big bags around that has a battery powered electric motor inside to help with getting around.

Review: OtterBox Blackberry Curve case

Posted in Otterbox,Review by Darrin Olson on February 8th, 2009

OtterBox defender case for the Blackberry Curve reviewThe folks over at OtterBox, protectors of gadgets for the active and accident-prone, gave us a chance to try out one of their defensive products to see just how well it holds up. In this case, OtterBox sent us a protective case for the Blackberry Curve, a device I have with me day in and day out.

Since the case from OtterBox is protecting something I own and depend on daily, we did not put it through the usual drops, dunks and vodka-proof trials that we would normally do. But, despite this we can tell you that this case blows away any other protective case we’ve had our hands on, for any mobile device.

iPod Cases made from old 45 RPM records

iPod Cases made from old 45 RPM recordsNow here’s a case for your iPod that is actually interesting and looks unique. These cases are made from old 45s, with a plexiglass window and a cork liner. You have to love this merging of the old format with the new. It just makes sense. And looks damn good.

I love how you can line up the record label in various ways and the center hole of the record is lined up with the iPod’s scroll wheel of course. These awesome cases were made by Contexture Design, but sadly they are completely sold out of the 45 cases right now. You can see why.
