Are you using Micro SD cards yet?

Posted in SanDisk by Conner Flynn on May 19th, 2009

Are you using Micro SD cards yet?How many of you have started using micro SD cards? If you have, what is your experience? If you haven’t, why not? I recently started using the micro SD cards from Sandisk after avoiding them forever. I just figured, they’re so damn tiny, they had to be annoying. But after using them, I’ve found them pretty darn useful and even though they are obscenely tiny, I’m sold.

They are especially useful for moving songs betweens between your MP3 player and phone. (Assuming you have the micro SD slot). Say you have an 8 GB MP3 player. An 8 GB card doubles your storage. That’s a no brainer. But the fact that you can take the card out and use it on your phone or other device is where they are handy.

Sansa slotRadio comes with 1,000 songsWe checked out Sandisk’s new slotRadio recently. As a refresher, this player comes with a microSD memory card slot so you can have your choice of pre-loaded music. The idea is that you can get it pre-loaded with Billboard hits cards that hold more than 1,000 tracks and buy other similar cards.

Did we like it? Did we hate it? Is it filled with useless songs that are all played out? You’re about to find out.

Daily Deal: 4th Gen iPod Nano 8GB (Silver)

4th Gen 8GB iPod Nano
Who doesn’t love iPod? Okay, before we get into an all-out brawl, let’s say that question was rhetorical. But whether you love or hate Apple’s ubiquitous MP3 player, you can’t deny that it’s everywhere these days. With the new 4th Gen iPod Nano, things get even more exciting. The new design allows for a larger viewing screen for movies, photos, and Coverflow, without the wideness of the previous generation. Apple also switches up their usual pricing standards with this generation, offering a 8GB model in all colors for $150, and a 16GB model at their usual price of $200.

The new Genius feature claims to find songs in your library that go together, and groups them for you, taking all the work out of creating playlists. Of course, the shuffle feature may undo all of that work. When shaken, the iPod switches to shuffle mode… so let’s hope you don’t move too much when you jog, or your exercise playlist may suddenly switch to slow jams. Luckily, this feature is one that can be disabled if you’re not interested in using it.

Sony intros car audio with iPod linksSony is revamping its Xplod line of car stereo units that will work with iPods. The iPod-aware models are the GT630UI, GT430IP, GT330 and GT130, and each features a USB connection that transfers data and charges the iPod.

These are the first models of their kind that feature scan technology known as “ZAPPIN”, which will do what auto-scanning does for radios, but for your digital content. So, using it will play samples of each track in a given piece of the listener’s library so you get a taste of songs, rather than text descriptions. If you want GT630UI you’ll have to pay $160, while the GT430IP and GT330 will cost $130 and $100, when they’re released in September.
