Retro Calculator iPhone 4 case

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on January 22nd, 2011

This may look like an average retro calculator, but it is actually an iPhone 4 case with a super realistic looking decal. This retro calculator case consists of a clear hard plastic case plus the decal and retails for $19.50 on etsy.

Great for an April Fool’s day prank or an anytime prank. I bet it would even fool the nerdiest of math nerds. It looks very convincing. Except for the camera hole.

Water powered calculator

Posted in Calculators by Conner Flynn on June 1st, 2010

At last a green solution to all of those calculators that run on gas. Think about it. No more carbon monoxide fatalities during math class. No more having to take your calculator to the mechanic to get an emmisions check. At last, we can cleanly crunch numbers.

So I exaggerated a little. This water powered calculator is still cool. It uses three water batteries for power which have two electrodes inside made from a special alloy. When immersed in water they produce electricity through a chemical reaction.

Adidas Calculator Watch

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on April 6th, 2010

Adidas wants a piece of the calculator watch market and they hope that you will choose theirs to unleash your inner math nerd. This one comes in several colors and looks super retro. The colors include black, gold, blue and lilac colorways.

These calculator watches may be awesome, but make sure you stick to simple math. I don’t want to hear a news story about how some dude tried to do his taxes on his wrist watch and got himself into trouble. Just use it for simple stuff and to look cool.

Even though there isn’t any real reason to wear one today, calculator watches always bring back memories of the 80s. If you like the retro style of a calculator watch on your wrist, the Cal-Q-Tek 2000 calculator watch should do nicely.

The style is pretty cool and at just $18, you won’t need a calculator to figure out if you can afford it or not. Heck it may even come in handy. Maybe at the grocery store or when you balance your checkbook.

Cool Leaf button-less flat input devices

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on March 3rd, 2010

Cool Leaf is an input system that is both flat and mirrored. It comes from a Japanese company called Minebea who have demonstrated it with a keyboard, calculator, and remote control that are all completely free of keys.

Sure they look amazingly futuristic, but they also make a lot of sense. The devices would be easier to clean with no keys that will gather dust and crumbs. Minebea has done a great job. The devices have backlights, force sensors, and a film from a company called Toray Industries that is the world’s first “electrostatic capacity type touch panel and a load sensor.”

Calculator Boy: A backwards mod

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on January 28th, 2010

This modder is doing it all wrong. You are supposed to make something that looks like business, but is really a toy. Not something like looks like a toy, but is really all about business. But still, we can’t help but love this one. It’s a mod fit for math nerds and gaming geeks.

Most calculators are boring, but not this one. What we have here is a traditional calculator that looks like a Game Boy. How awesome is that? We love how it opens on the side. If only I could buy it.

Posted in Tools by Conner Flynn on December 23rd, 2009

Do you need a survival tool for your cubicle? This one may be for you. Instead of knives, what you get is a calculator, a stapler, scissors and measuring tape.

Having all of this stuff in one place should help you free up some desk space. It’s pretty ridiculous and you may get laughed at, but this thing will make you king of all cubicles. Use your power wisely. Don’t stab yourself.

Game Boy hidden in a calculator

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on December 19th, 2009

Game Boy hidden in a calculatorThis is the best way to play video games while at school. Everyone thinks you are doing a complex math problem, but really you are getting your game on. The only problem is, you are going to be in trouble if you have an actual math problem to do.

This mod took it’s creator about 13 hours to complete, which is understandable. Most of that time was likely spent playing Mario games and Tetris. I hope the teacher doesn’t read this.
