Mario USB mushroom lamp from Brando

Mario USB mushroom lamp

It doesn’t get much better designwise, then a mushroom lamp that is clearly inspired by the Mario games from Nintendo. It’s a classic that’s instantly recognizable and nostalgic.

Now you finally have that last elusive piece of the puzzle and can decorate your room to look just like the Mushroom Kingdom. I like the green 1up mushroom because it reminds me of countless extra lives. They’re cute, colorful and cheap at $13. They are sure to win you the Princess, or at the very least your friend Luigi will want to hang out more.

iMONO USB hub with individual power switches

iMONO 4-port USB hub has individual on/off switchesiMONO took the simple USB hub a small step further by adding an individual sliding switch which turns on and off each of the 4 USB ports separately. It also has LED status indicators for each port and for the source cable so you can see what’s on and what’s not at a glance. At first this might not seem like too handy of a feature but you’ll be thanking me when the person on the other end of your Availabot can’t seem to maintain a connection or you get tired of plugging in your eye massager every day. It also could help save some electricity by conveniently turning off those peripherals when your not using them.

USB OptiWind mouse cools your hands

USB OptiWind mouse

Whether you are a sweaty handed gamer or maybe just nervous surfing the web for some reason that only you understand, the USB OptiWind Mouse will dry your hand. You can use it with the fan on or off thanks to a handy built in button. I’m sure you could even hold it up to your face on a really hot day, but I doubt it would help very much.

We’ve seen some odd mouses, but this one makes me wonder what’s next. Deodorant maybe? Even if your hands are dry and secure, this mouse just looks neat and has a nice ergonomic design with blue lights. It features an optical sensor of 800dpi and is compatible with Windows 98/ME/2000/XP .

Motion sensing air speaker dock does it all

Motion sensing air speaker

These speakers/moodlight/FM radio are simply way too cool to behold. They remind me of the Easter Island stone heads, you know, if aliens had mated with robots and then made art. For a dock, it really does do quite alot.

Raise and lower the volume by simply waving your hand across the infrared sensor. You can tune the radio by the same means. No need to press any buttons. Of course you can plug your mp3 player into it, or turn on the radio. If you get really bored you watch the pretty mood light glow.

Check Mii Out on the Nintendo Wii starting Sunday

Posted in News,Nintendo,Wii by Darrin Olson on November 9th, 2007

Check Mii Out channel coming to the Nintendo Wii on Nov 11Anyone who’s had a chance to play the Nintendo Wii has probably also had the opportunity to represent themselves on the game console as a cartoon-like Mii character. Most probably try to make an accurate likeness of themselves but many create Mii alter-egos or try to recreate a well-known likeness. There’s even been Celebrity Mii design contests to see who can use the Mii editor to make the best celebrity Mii look-a-likes such as the likeness of Jack Black pictured here.

Well, all the fun people are having with these Mii’s hasn’t gone unnoticed by Nintendo and in response on Sunday the company will add the “Check Mii Out Channel” to the Wii menu lineup. For those that have their Nintendo Wii connected to the internet the new channel will be offered as a free download through the WiiWare section of the Wii Shop channel.

Casio USB label mouse prints

Casio USB label mouse. In a way, the Casio USB label mouse from Brando looks like an updated fortune cookie. It’s a pretty innovative doubling up of 2 products. Just print labels directly from your mouse.

This is probably for those people that need to label everything with their name on it. There is a drawback however. The thermal roll paper isn’t cheap. It retails for $14 for a pack of 3. Ouch! The mouse itself costs $29. But you really can’t put a price on cool. It might save your desktop from Post-It overload.

Brando USB to eSATA adapterHere’s another convenient solution for hooking up your bare external hard drives to your computer without having to buy and enclosure or open up your case. It’s not quite as slick as the Stage Rack we saw a week ago but it takes up less room and costs a little less, too.

The small adapter is called the USB to eSATA adapter from Brando and will connect your SATA or eSATA drive to your computer through the little USB 2.0 compliant adapter giving up to the max 480Mbps transfer rates. The adapter runs $15 by itself and $25 with the appropriate power supply for your country and makes the drive plug & play giving you instant access to its contents, and of course a warm whirling bare drive sitting on your desk.

Brando Hand pressing gun flashlight has laser aim and is powered by squeezing the trigger with no batteriesAim, squeeze the trigger and see what you’re looking at. That’s the concept behind Brando’s Hand Pressing Gun Flashlight, an illuminator that comes with a red laser sighter. Aim that red dot at where you want to illuminate your beam of light and then when you squeeze the flashlight’s trigger two white LEDs wink on. The flashlight doesn’t require batteries since it uses the kinetic energy from your hand squeezing the trigger to power up the LEDs.

Brando glow in the dark keyboardNow that fall has finally arrived and the days are growing shorter darkness falls earlier each day. If you want to bring a little light into your work environment and pick up your spirits on gloomy days consider investing $27 and pick up a Flexible Illuminated Full Sized Keyboard from Hong Kong-based Brando.

The silicon material that the keyboard is made from is flexible enough that you can roll it up or twist and turn it. Dimensions are 49×13 mm and it only weighs 335 grams so packing it around shouldn’t be too much of a burden. The illumination can be seen in a lighted environment but of course it looks better in a low light or dark room.

Wii Zapper-Like “Light Gun” From Brando

Posted in Controllers,Wii by Darrin Olson on September 11th, 2007

Wii 2 in 1 Light Gun from Brando uses both controllers in a tommy gun configurationIt looks like Brando might have beat Nintendo out of the gate with their own Wii controller “tommy gun” configuration. This Wii 2 in 1 Light Gun from Brando looks a lot like the Zapper that’s expected to be released by Nintendo in November, which will ship along with a Crossbow training game.

This version from Brando is available now and is listed at $18, $2 under the expected price of the Zapper but with no game. But, unfortunately we’re still going to have to wait a little longer for the Wii games to come out that take advantage of this plastic mold.
