Posted in BlackBerry by Conner Flynn on September 23rd, 2010

You can walk against cancer, run against cancer, crawl against cancer, or buy some pink gadgets. Personally, I can’t see that ever beating cancer, though it does put your money in some deep pockets to be mis-managed and pillaged. But if you are not as jaded as I, you might want to join the good fight and get yourself these pink OtterBox cases.

They support the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade and the 2010 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer by offering a limited edition, pink and white Commuter Series for the BlackBerry called “Strength” cases. The following BlackBerry’s will be supported: BlackBerry Curve 8500/9300 series, Pearl 3G and Bold 9700 series.

Posted in BlackBerry by Conner Flynn on August 19th, 2010

Is your 3G-equipped BlackBerry looking boring? Do you think it needs some freshinging up? It might be time to give the folks at Colorware a call. They have just started taking orders for repainting the Pearl 3G (aka 9100) handsets into whatever colors you want.

Both will operate on WCDMA Bands II and V, which means they will play nice with Bell, Telus, Rogers and AT&T. Both models should arrive on the market in the next few weeks, since we know that RIM has already promised a May release window.

Full QWERTY Keyboard BlackBerry Pearl 9100?

Posted in BlackBerry by Conner Flynn on March 4th, 2010

There’s no official confirmation on this just yet, so it resides in rumor territory at the moment, but check out this picture of a replacement keyboard for the BlackBerry Pearl 9100. If it’s real, then you may just get a full QWERTY keyboard on your 9100.

Last we heard, the 9100 would be using RIM’s SureType keyboard, but if this fits on the BlackBerry Pearl 9100, you might get a full QWERTY keyboard. Which would you want? I vote QWERTY.

Verizon brings slotRadio+ cards to BlackBerry

Posted in BlackBerry by Conner Flynn on January 28th, 2010

This is interesting news. Verizon just announced that they will be offering slotRadio+ microSD memory cards (which already come preloaded with music) for most BlackBerrys. We’ve seen the cards before. They are not new. They were introduced by SanDisk last year and can hold 1,000 songs from various artists on the Billboard charts.

First you’ll need to download and install an application on your BlackBery that will let you connect to Verizon’s V CAST Music service, for it to work. Each of the cards will retail for $50 if you like the skip button enough to get one.

Well, the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 is finally getting a successor in the 9100. One that has done away with the pearl for a now-standard touchpad. The SureType keyboard and the dimensions look about the same.

This new Pearl (Codenamed Striker) also features a newly-designed battery. We should have more specs and info soon. Until then you can drool over the image and save your dough.

Buy one get one for the BlackBerry Storm2?

Posted in BlackBerry by Conner Flynn on October 12th, 2009

Buy one get one for the BlackBerry Storm2?Someone over at BlackBerry Rocks posted a photo of a Verizon flyer that shows a buy one get one free offer. The flyer depicts a Tour, Curve, Pearl Flip and…the Storm2. There aren’t any real details included, but one can only assume that it could be a Storm2 launch promo.

Its the kind of deal that Verizon would offer with the launch of a new device. We may know more soon if some more images and promo material pop up. A BOGO offer for the Storm2 at launch would be pretty sweet.

Posted in BlackBerry by Conner Flynn on June 4th, 2009

Verizon announces BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 certainly took its time making an appearance on Verizon Wireless. It starts from the 19th of this month onward. Better late than never I guess. It will cost you $129.99 after a $70 mail-in rebate, with a 2-year contract.

As for specs, here’s a refresher: OS 4.6.0, 324MHz processor, external display, vertical QVGA internal display, SureType keypad, 2 megapixel camera with flash, GPS, etc. I don’t think it will generate very much excitement.

blackberrypearlflip8230-sbWhen it comes to smartphone most of them have the same bar or PDA style form factor. Those preferring to use a clamshell style phone don’t have many options with the current crop of smartphones. Clamshells are preferred by some people because they are more compact.

Alltel has announced that the Blackberry Pearl Flip 8230 handset will be available on its network starting in early May. The handset is a full Blackberry smartphone with the clamshell style and a SureType QWERTY keyboard underneath.

BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 from Verizon

Posted in BlackBerry by Conner Flynn on February 4th, 2009

BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 from VerizonIf you’re a fan of Verizon you’ll be happy to know that the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 will be with the carrier soon. It’s the first clamshell BlackBerry, so it looks a little strange, but it’s a good solid phone that’s been available for a few months from other carriers.

We don’t have any word on pricing and availability. We do know that silver will be among the color choices. The release date should be very soon since test units have gone out.
