Amazon is now selling the ViewSonic ViewBook VB730 for just $230. The device features a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor with 512MB of RAM, an HDMI port with 1080p playback and a stylus for input.

That’s not all. The new Android Froyo tablet also features a 7-inch (800×400) touchscreen display, 8GB of storage space, a built-in microSD card slot for storage expansion and a front-facing camera for your video chat needs.

Viewsonic’s ViewBook VB730 is now in stock at Amazon for $229.99. That price gets you a 7-inch slate with Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, WiFi, a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage space, a microSD card slot and an 800 x 480 screen resolution.

Just realize that you won’t be getting Android 3.2. Instead, you will get Froyo. What did you expect for that low price? Still, that’s not bad, all things considered for these specs.

It sports a 7” 800 x 480, 16:9 resistive touchscreen, runs Android 2.3 and is powered by a 1GHz ARM11 processor supported by 256MB DDR.

It also features a built in 4GB MicroSD card expandable up to 32GB and a 0.3 megapixel camera on the front for video calling, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and a mini HDMI socket. The built in rechargeable battery will deliver four hours of useful life.

ViewSonic ViewBook 730 tablet

ViewSonic is getting ready to release the ViewSonic ViewBook 730. The 7″ tablet will retail for just $249 and for that low price you get 1080p video playback thanks to an HDMI connection, and video chatting and conference calling via its front VGA camera. That price is nice and affordable.

The ViewBook 730 will also feature Amazon Appstore integration. Other specs include a high-resolution 800 x 480 LED backlit display, a stylus, RiteTouch technology, an ARM Cortex-A8 1Ghz processor, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. You can’t argue with all you get for that price. But what about battery life? That will be the deciding factor.

ZiiLABS Introduces JAGUAR Android Tablets

ZiiLABS has introduced its JAGUAR family of high-performance and energy-efficient Android tablets. The modular 7-inch and 10-inch tablets are based on the company’s latest ZMS-20 and ZMS-40 StemCell processors.

The 7-inch model has a 1024 x 600 pixel display, while the 10-inch model has a 1280 x 800 pixel display. This reference platform can handle capacitive or resistive display and either dual or quad core ARM Cortex-A9 chips with 48 or 96 core floating point StemCell media processors for 3D graphics and HD video.

NEC finally shipping LifeTouch W tablet soon

We first saw it at CES this year and now the dual 7-inch screen Android tablet from NEC is finally ready to ship. In Japan. NEC has announced that it now has a new name, the LifeTouch W, and it should arrive sometime next month. It offers Android 2.2 Froyo and access to the Android Market.

Other features include two 7″ TFT LCD displays at 600 × 800 resolution, an ARM Cortex A8 processor, 384MB RAM, 1GB ROM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 support, a 3-megapixel camera, USB 2.0, an SDHC memory card slot, GPS and you can expect up to 5 hours of battery life. That’s not much, but those two screens do eat up battery life after all.

Windows 8 to come in at least 4 versions

We love choice. That’s why we have so many flavors of ice cream and it’s also why our gadgets come in so many colors and with so many varied options. Now that we are all hungry for ice cream, I’ll get to the point. Rumor is that Microsoft will offer at least four different versions of Windows 8 for devices with ARM processors. According to Renee James, Intel’s senior vice president and general manager of Software and Services Group, Windows versions that run on ARM devices will be focused on tablets and other mobile devices.

Are you tired of Microsoft having too many versions of their OS? This might be a problem for them. We will have to wait and see. But I think most of us just want one or two options for the OS, so we can make a hassle free choice and be done with it.

Nokia’s X7 Symbian smartphone gets torn down by the FCC

The X7 is Nokia’s latest Symbian smartphone featuring slanted sides and a brushed aluminum back, giving it a futuristic industrial look. Going beyond looks, the X7 features a 4-inch 360 x 640 display, 680MHz ARM 11 processor, 256MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, 8GB of internal storage with microSD storage supported, an 8MP camera with dual LED flash, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. The X7 runs Nokia’s Symbian Anna OS.

And now we can check out the device’s innards thanks to some FCC photos of the X7. The FCC documents give a good look at the device’s Samsung SDRAM, Broadcom transceiver, Gorilla Glass display and 8MP image sensor, as well as the X7’s unique back cover, which features a honeycomb pattern.

Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 2 gets official

We knew it was coming and now Verizon has gone and made it official by announcing that the HTC Droid Incredible 2 will be available on Thursday, April 28th. So how much will it cost you? Not an arm and a leg. Just the usual $200 with a two-year contract.

To refresh your memory, the device features a 4-inch super LCD screen, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, an 8 megapixel camera with a dual LED flash, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, as well as WiFi mobile hotspot support. It also happens to be a world phone.
