For most computer makers a simple processor update isn’t a big deal to consumers. If Dell tosses a recently announced CPU in a notebook, most people don’t think much about it. When Apple changes something though, the hoards of fans get very excited.

Some Apple fans are probably giddy right now after an email from Intel sent to members of the Intel Retail Edge program was sent out showing a MacBook Pro with an Intel Core i5 CPU up for grabs. The email invited the members to enter to win one of two new MacBook Pro notebooks with the Core i5 processor.

Brace yourself for the latest iPhone 4G rumor. This will surprise no one, but according to sources in Korea, the next iPhone will likely be named the “iPhone 4G”. Sources even claim that KT has signed a deal with Apple to release the iPhone 4G in June, when the phone is launched worldwide.

The rumor claims that the iPhone 4G will feature 2 cameras for video calling, better battery life, and maybe mobile TV service (That could just be for Korea). What Do you think? Anything to these rumors?

Google is expected to release it’s own mobile phone in a press conference schedule for today, going by the name of Nexus One. The new phone will be the first to actually be sold by Google and will also run Google’s very own Android software stack for mobile devices.

The Nexus One is rumored to also become available through the T-Mobile and their wireless carrier network in addition to the unlocked version direct from Google. The Android software has already been available on a number of mobile phones starting back in 2008 with a device from HTC. The device Google is introducing today is expected to also be from HTC, touting a 3.7 inch touch screen, 5-megapixel camera and a Snapdragon processor.

Previously it was looking as if the Apple Tablet could be launched in March 2010, but now word on the street is that the device could be officially announced in January 2010.

An article from the Financial Times states “Apple is preparing an announcement next month that many anticipate will be the official unveiling of its tablet, but the company has so far declined to confirm the existence of the device,”.

Every few weeks it seems like a fresh round of rumors about an Apple tablet sets the tech world on fire. People really want tablet form factor devices to hit the market. That fabled Apple tablet isn’t here yet, but there are some other tablets that are here or are coming really soon.

Engadget went hands on with a new Android powered tablet called the ICD Ultra. The tablet has a 7-inch screen and runs the NVIDIA Tegra T20 CPU. It has 512MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM. Storage capacity is 4GB and the tablet has integrated 2G/3G radios.

We already knew that we wouldn’t be seeing the Apple tablet this year. The latest rumors have some analysts saying we’ll be seeing a 10.1-inch tablet in March or April of 2010, and it will cost $1000. They also say that the tablet’s multitouch screen will not be an OLED panel, but an LCD display that could be up to 12 inches with “stunning graphics.”

1080p video? The sources claim that manufacturers are getting ready up to drop up to 10 million tablets in 2010.

Is Apple field testing the next generation iPhone? Could be. iPhone developer Pandav noticed some usage records of an unreleased iPhone in the iBART app’s analytics. The iPhone that’s listed in the usage logs is iPhone 3.1, which I don’t have to tell you, does not match any current iPhone.

The iPhone 3GS is listed as iPhone 2,1. While it wouldn’t be surprising to see that Apple is busy working on a new iPhone, (There are rumors that Verizon will be getting an iPhone somewhere in2010) is this the one?

All you want for Christmas is an iPhone for yourself right? But it’s too expensive, what with all of the other gifts you need to buy. How does an 8GB iPhone 3GS for $99 sound?

This one resides in rumor territory for now, but word is that Apple is toying with the idea of releasing the device for $99 in an effort to combat Motorola’s DROID. A cheaper iPhone 3GS is always welcomed, even if it is just an 8GB version, at least it gives users another option.

It’s been rumored that Apple has been readying a refreshed iMac line with something more affordable. This weekend, Google AdSense further confirmed these suspicions as users in the Netherlands were treated to some ads for new iMacs, MacBooks, and Mac minis.

The ads point to a dead link at the Apple Store, and according to Google Translate they read: “Apple’s Newest MacBook. Thinner, lighter and faster! Free delivery. Order today,” “The Brand new iMac. Ultra Thin 20 & 24 inch models. From only €1099 (roughly $1,063). Apple Store,” and “Apple’s New Mac mini. Faster and more affordable than ever. From only € 499 ($723). Order immediately.”

It’s been a long and wild ride with the Apple tablet rumors and it isn’t over yet. iLounge has itself a reliable source that has revealed more information on the upcoming Apple Tablet.

According to the source Apple is all set to reveal the touch-screen tablet on or before January 19, 2010. Some other tidbits are that Apple has created at least three prototypes. Version 1 has a 7” screen, which was too small. The latest version has a 10.7” screen. It runs iPhone OS, and it looks like an iPhone 3G, complete with a curved back.

According to a recent report from Gizmodo on Tuesday, Microsoft is confirming rumors that it actually does have a new dual-screen tablet in the works, codenamed Courier. According to the article and a short demo video, the Courier is a real thing and is more like a “booklet” than a tablet as it folds together and has two interactive touch screens side-by-side with loads of fast functionality.

The project has apparently been kept under pretty tight wraps with very few, both inside and outside of Microsoft, with knowledge about it. In fact, rumors are that the team working on the project, led by J. Allard (a designer involved in the Zune and the Xbox) has been kept away from the main Redmond campus to help keep it secret.

The same folks at ifixit.com who tore down the newly released iPod nano from last week also got their hands on Apple’s newest version of the iPod touch and carefully broke it down as well. In doing this they found some interesting surprises.

In dismantling the iPod touch, they found a faster 802.11n Broadcom wireless chip, still inactive but bringing wireless-N in addition to the a,b and G in the touch. Chances are that some OS update, hopefully in the not too distant future, will enable this faster wireless connection.

It looks like Jobs and Apple have saved the best for last today as usual with the announcement of the new, updated 5th generation iPod nano. The new and improved nano has a host of new features including a not just a camera but a video camera, Genius mixes, FM radio with Live Pause, Voice Over and a Fitness pedometer that works with Nike.

Even with the tight-lipped Apple team we had heard the rumors that a camera was coming to the iPod and today it is finally here. Apple has implanted a video camera into the iPod nano that can record in either landscape or potrait and can record audio along with it so we’re not making silent movies here. You can then play back the video instantly and hear the audio through a built in speaker! It even comes with 15 cool-looking special effects that can be applied to the video such as Thermal, Mirror, X Ray and more.

According to Apple, the rumors of the iPod Classic’s death have been greatly exaggerated. They proved it by announcing that they will keep the iPod Classic alive, but give it a nice capacity bump.

Up until now the largest size iPod classic held 120GB, but now it will hold 160GB of music. That’s like 40,000 songs or 2 Pink Floyd albums. The rest of the good news is that Apple decided to sell it for the same price of $249. So now the classic can rest in storage, not in peace. Put the eulogies down and dry your eyes kids. Oops. Best Buy has listings for a number of accessories from Belkin for the as yet unannounced iPod touch 3rd generation. None of the listings mention a digital camera on the back of this new model, but they list six new case lines on their website. Some of those cases sport “hand straps” however, suggesting that it will have a camera.

Following up on rumors that the new model might be delayed, Pocket-lint managed to get a Riverdale New Jersey Walmart to comment that they were expecting the “newer” iPod touch models at the “end of the month.”
