Apple’s iPhone alarm clock experienced a strange glitch with the new year and failed to wake users on New Year’s Day and January 2. This is caused by a bug that Apple still hasn’t fully explained, but the company did make a statement yesterday saying that the failure of its clock app only happens when you set a one-time alarm, and that it will somehow fix itself on January 3. However despite that, the problem still apparently exists.

So if you want to make sure that you wake up on time and don’t piss off your boss, here’s how to work around the problem until we get a proper fix.

iLive has given us a sneak peek at their new line of iPhone and iPad docks that they are launching at CES 2011 next week and they look pretty decent. Maybe even sexy. Along with their traditional docking stations iLive will also be showing off its new App Enhanced docks offering features like clocks, multiple alarms, calendars, nature sounds, sleep timers and weather information, all controlled from apps on your iOS device of choice.

The iLive iPad docks offer charging capabilities and can be rotated for viewing in both portrait and landscape mode. The iSD131B is a case, stand, and powered speaker all in one for $49.99. The iSD391B is a powered 2.1 speaker audio system and dock for iPad/iPhone/iPod touch and is App Enhanced for $99.99

You can choose from a million alarm clock docks, most with the same basic features. Or you can choose one that is more original, like the TimeCommand. This dock will dock and charge your iPod, iPhone, or iPad and has an adjustable connector that will work if you have your gadget in a case or not in a case. A free app can also be downloaded to let you set multiple alarms.

The neatest feature is that you can plug in your bedside lamp and the TimeCommand will wake you to your alarm as well as light from the lamp. With the app it can be dimmed and a timer can cut the lamp off when you go to bed.

Xtreme Mac has launched a new pair of audio docks for the iPhone and iPod, The Luna SST alarm clock dock and the 3 in 1 Microdock. The Luna SST alarm clock has dual independent alarms and a detachable speaker. It’s the perfect size for your nightstand and delivers full stereo sound.

The 2 in 1 Microdock lets you charge your iPhone or iPod, and you can also play music though the built in speaker. It comes with a free Alarm clock app which is available for both docks.

Some screenshots of the upcoming BlackBerry Shield service have now surfaced. This service will function like Apple’s “Find My iPhone” feature for iPhones with MobileMe. Basically, BlackBerry Shield will allow users to track their lost or stolen phones using Google Maps.

It will also allow users to remotely wipe important information from the device using a web browser. Some other features include custom lost and found messages, remote password settings, and alarms to help you find the device when it’s in your immediate area.

If you like your clock to look like nature and have a thing for Woodpeckers, here’s a clock for you. It was designed by Natalie Duckett. The Woodpecker Alarm Clock has no clock face to tell the time. Instead it will measure how long you have been asleep and wake you up when you’ve had the right amount.

I don’t need to stinkin woodpecker clock to tell me when I’ve had enough sleep, but hey that’s just me. There are two alarms, one for the evening, telling you when to go to sleep, and one in the morning, telling you when to wake up.

iHome has been in the market for accessories like docks for the iPhone and iPod for a long time now. The company has announced that its iP90 alarm clock dock for the devices has been updated for 2010.

The iP90 has a larger display now than previous models and better sound. The treble and bass are adjustable and the device uses Reson8 stereo speaker chambers. Other features include multiple alarms and programmable snooze times.

Yeah we hear ya. Yes this is yet another alarm clock speaker system for your iPhone or iPod touch. However the iHome iA5 App-driven Alarm Clock Speaker System was specially designed to work with the company’s iHome+Sleep app, which allows users to adjust the clock’s time, alarm, and EQ settings right from the iPhone itself.

By equipping the speaker system with the app users get up to 18 additional software alarms and nap alarms, and can browse local weather information. Owners can also set snooze or program wake alarms that can play movies or songs. A line-in jack allows for connecting additional audio devices.

We’ve seen our share of projection alarm clocks, but now Sony has launched a stylish new projection alarm clock of their own, the Sony ICF-C717PJ. It’s designed to project the time on your bedroom wall or ceiling and can be set to different angles.

Some other features include a clock radio with dual alarms and an FM and AM tuner and you can wake up to the sound of a buzzer, or music from your iPhone or iPod.

I have used my iPhone as a timer when I was cooking something a bunch of times. I also use the iPhone as my alarm clock and my watch and I bet lots of you do as well. iHome has a new speaker dock that has a clock, kitchen timer and other cool features for the iPhone and iPod.

The device is called the iP39 Kitchen Timer and FM Alarm Clock Radio Speaker System for iPhone/iPod. The thing has one of the longest product names ever. What you get is an upright stainless and black looking speaker dock that fits in with most modern kitchens.

Several of the new iPhone docking alarm clocks that I have seen hit the market lately share something in common. Many of them are now sporting dual charge docks. This is a good thing since many homes now have more than one iPod or iPhone vying for that charge dock. The iLuv iMM183 unveiled today is another dual docking alarm clock with some cool features.

Perhaps the most interesting of the features aside from the dual cocks is the integrated weather band radio also with an alert system that puts weather warnings on the front of the clock. The device uses SAME technology to receive local weather info.

The Cheetah C50 is a small GPS speed camera detector with 65 unique spoken voice alerts that cover various types of threats. The device can identify different types of cameras for speed, red light, speed-on-green, and also is capable of telling you if the camera is on a freeway, a highway, an exit ramp, a frontage road, etc. It will give you an edge while speeding away.

The Cheetah C50 has a speedometer, compass, and directional intelligence, so you won’t be caught off guard by false alarms for cameras on the other side of the freeway. At $100 it will hopefully save you some money on speeding tickets.

I have seen several iPod/iPhone alarm clocks hit the streets over the last few weeks. A few of them are now sporting dual docks to keep more than one Apple device charged up. Sanyo has jumped into the iPod alarm clock action with a couple new devices today including the DMP-P1 Cube Alarm Clock Radio and the DMP-692 Dual dock music System.

The DMP-692 is one of those snazzy new dual dock devices that can charge your iPhone and your iPod at the same time. The clock has three alarms and can wake you to a buzzer, AM/FM radio, or your favorite playlist. The radio also has an auxiliary input for CD palyers and non-dockable PMPs. A remote controller is included as well.
