This Spy Camera Looks Like A Sony Alarm Clock and Radio

Posted in Spy Gear by Conner Flynn on July 21st, 2011

This spy camera is scary because it looks just like a Sony alarm clock. In fact, I have the Sony model that it is imitating in my home. I hope no one has been spying. This hidden camera records 720p HD videos in MPEG4 format and stores them on an SD card (16GB provided).

It will give you a time and date stamp and is motion activated. I don’t think that anyone would even suspect it was more than a clock, especially when it functions as a regular alarm clock/radio when it isn’t spying. It will cost you $329.89.

Alternative Alarm Clock

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on July 5th, 2011

Royal College of Art graduate Ki Hyun Kim must really like coffee. He designed the Alternative Alarm Clock, which allows you to wake up to the smell of coffee instead of beeping sounds that make you want to throw your clock.

The Alternative Alarm Clock is also a combination alarm/power strip, allowing you to plug in any electrical device you want like a lamp or a radio. When the alarm is activated, the electric outlet supplies power to the electrical devices.

Mr Bump Alarm Clock

Posted in Clocks by Conner Flynn on June 27th, 2011

If you hate getting up in the morning(Don’t we all?) then this alarm clock is for you. The Mr Bump Alarm Clock may look like a South Park character, but he’s actually from the Mr Men series of children’s books. Apparently he bumps into things a lot.

As soon as the Mr Bump Alarm Clock goes off, just pick him up and throw him against the wall, and the alarm will stop. But hey that’s true of most alarm clocks if you throw it hard enough. Just $15.

Nyko unveils new accessories for Kinect and 3DS

Posted in Nyko by Conner Flynn on June 6th, 2011

Nyko has unveiled some new gaming gear. Zoom for Kinect is a pair of clip-on glasses that lets you get 40 percent closer to the sensor bar with no loss of function. Then there’s Nyko’s Play Clock, a charging dock for Nintendo’s 3DS that also functions as an alarm clock.

Nyko also introduced a trio of new extended battery packs for the 3DS. There’s the Shock n’ Rock that brings three times the juice, “added vibration feedback,” and four speakers. The Power Grip is an ergonomic external battery that also triples the 3DS’ battery life. The Game Boost battery snaps on for an extra hour or two of life. Prices and availability remain unknown for now.

Money Shredding Alarm Clock

Posted in Clocks by Conner Flynn on May 29th, 2011

Anyone who risks actual money being shredded in their alarm clock must have serious problems waking up. This should help give you incentive though. We’re not sure if this even exists or who created it, but it’s a neat idea.

The alarm clock starts shredding the bill that’s been inserted at the appointed time unless you wake up to stop it. How much would you pay to shred money while you sleep? I can’t see anyone buying this.

Wireless iPhone 4 alarm dock does nothing, but looks good doing it

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on May 19th, 2011

See that alarm dock for your iPhone 4? It does nothing at all. Just holds your iPhone 4 and gives it a place to call home while you sleep or do other things. Just sits there like… Well, like a lump of wood. It comes from designer Jonas Damon and is made from beautiful beach wood.

Your iPhone is going to act as your alarm clock either way right? Might as well give it a decent spot to sit in and class up your place. It won’t charge your device, won’t pump out awesome sound, but it does come with a free app to turn your iPhone into one of those clocks with the flipping numbers.

Eole concept watch with turbine bezel lets you blow for the time

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on May 16th, 2011

Is your own watch feeling a bit too practical? Not silly enough? Well, if that’s the case, check out the Eole watch concept from designer Julien Moise. This watch is powered by blown air, displaying the time only when you want to see it, thereby saving battery power.

It’s easy to say that this watch blows, but the truth is it’s a neat concept to conserve battery life. Even so, you will look pretty damn silly blowing for the time. The only thing that could make it worse would be if it made a kazoo type noise with each blow. There’s also a weather indicator and alarm function.

Darpa’s Hologram Goggles Will Call In The Drones

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on April 11th, 2011

When you need to send in deadly robots, holograms might be the answer. As it is right now, authorizing and targeting air strikes is a process that can be bureaucratic. Sometimes it takes lawyers, intelligence analysts, air controllers, and commanders at multiple layers to get it done.

Well DARPA has a new idea. Give the job to one guy on the ground who can control a drone or manned plane that’s circling above. A single man is low profile enough to slip into areas that need slipping into without alarming the locals and giving away his position. The soldier would use the goggles to view markers and call in airstrikes.

Anonymous targets Sony over PS3 jailbreak suit

Posted in Sony by Conner Flynn on April 4th, 2011

The hacking group known as “Anonymous” has announced that it will turn its attention toward Sony for the legal action it has taken against hackers for hacking the PS3 console. Not good news for Sony as we saw what this group was willing to do a few months back over Julian Assange and Wikileaks.

Anonymous wrote to Sony, “your recent legal action against our fellow hackers, Geohot and Graf_Chokolo has not only alarmed us, it has been deemed wholly unforgivable.”

Thanko earphones with integrated alarm

Posted in Earbuds by Conner Flynn on March 3rd, 2011

Thanko comes up with a lot of strange gadgets, but at least this time it is something useful. This pair of earphones features an integrated alarm so if your music puts you to sleep, you can always wake yourself up again.

It’s probably most useful for travelers and commuters and anyone with narcolepsy. But if you tend to fall asleep while wearing your earphones a lot, you might want to listen to something more upbeat or drink some coffee.
