Posted in 3D by Conner Flynn on February 22nd, 2011

If you somehow thought that the last Transformers movie was good, then you’ll no doubt want to see Transformers: Dark of the Moon this summer. You’ll also likely want to add $10 to the cost of each ticket, since Hasbro is offering these Transformers Cine-Mask 3D glasses.

They will be selling these in stores before the movie’s release and they are available in Optimus Prime and Bumblebee versions. The masks each have a standard set of RealD 3D glasses, which makes them suitable for most theaters out there and other 3D movies. Sadly there’s no adult sizes available.

Matrix Regenerator PC case mod

Matrix Regenerator PC case mod
I know for a fact that several nerds just crapped themselves looking at the picture above. This monstrosity is a PC Case Mod designed around the Matrix Regenerator. Some specs: Pentium 4 3.2, MSI 875P Neo Mainboard, a Solarism 17″ LCD Monitor LM1730, 1 GB Corsair CMX512 3200LL, Crucial Radeon 9800 Pro 256, and more.

It’s really a highly detailed work of art. From the creator “The Matrix: Regenerator project is the second in a series of two case mods based on The Matrix movies. The first project, The Matrix: Rebirth 8.0 was a recreation of the scene where machines are breeding humans for their electric power. Regenerator will show the second stage in that breeding process, where adult humans are plugged in to their power plants, dreaming their dream within the Matrix and providing power for the machines.”

Posted in HD-DVD Player,News,Toshiba by Darrin Olson on November 1st, 2007

Wal-Mart to sell HD DVD player for $99If you’ve considered getting your hands on an HD DVD player before the holidays you may want to consider hanging out at your local Wal-Mart tomorrow morning. According to their totally legit Secret In-Store Specials page, many stores will be offering the Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD player starting Friday at 8am through the weekend for a mere $98.87. The player was previously priced at just under $200 and is still listed at around $200 at Amazon and almost $300 at most other places.

The Toshiba HD-A2 is a 2nd generation player that supports the HD DVD disc format, rivaled by none other than the high-definition Blu-ray disc format in an ongoing high-def war, which currently seem like it will have no end. The player outputs in 720p/1080i formats and has SD up-conversion to 480p/720p/1080i. And as you might expect, as soon as you buy this one its expected to be followed up soon by its upgrade, the Toshiba HD-A3, which Sears is planning on selling for $169 with two HD DVD movies bundled with it.

Brits ban Manhunt 2 again

Posted in Games,News by Chetz on October 8th, 2007

Britain bans sale of Manhunt 2 video gameThe ratings body that oversees the classification of video games in Britain has again banned the sale of “Manhunt 2″. The British Board of Film Classification ruled once again that the horror-laden action/puzzle game is not sufficiently toned down to substantiate a public release. “Manhunt 2 is distinguishable from recent high-end video games by its unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone in an overall game context which constantly encourages visceral killing with exceptionally little alleviation or distancing. There is sustained and cumulative casual sadism in the way in which these killings are committed, and encouraged, in the game,” the BBFC said in its release.

“Against this background, the Board’s carefully considered view is that to issue a certificate to Manhunt 2, on either platform, would involve a range of unjustifiable harm risks, to both adults and minors, within the terms of the Video Recordings Act, and accordingly that its availability, even if statutorily confined to adults, would be unacceptable to the public.”

Posted in Blu-ray,HD DVD,News by Chris Weber on January 13th, 2007

blu-ray vs hd dvd - may be decided by adult film industryIn a repeat of the famous Betamax versus VHS, it appears that the adult film industry has chosen HD DVD over Blu-ray as their publishing medium of choice.

VHS eventually won over Betamax because the adult industry preferred it. In the late 70′s and early 80′s many video rental stores popped up around the country and they rented out mostly adult films in the VHS format. This sealed the fate of Betamax. It is thought that adult films is the main …
