New Zune HD coming soon?

Posted in Zune HD by Conner Flynn on September 1st, 2010

When it comes to design, the Zune HD is one of the best. So we are glad to know that a new version may be in the works. ZDNet thinks that some new Zune hardware is coming soon. We don’t have much in the way of details, but speculation is that it would be packing an ARM CPU with some software tricks from Windows Phone 7.

Whatever the case, we should know by early 2011 as that’s when it would arrive.

iHome ZN90B Zune dock

Posted in Zune HD by Conner Flynn on June 16th, 2010

This may be the nicest looking Zune dock out there. The ZN90B dock is available for pre-order now, for only $100, and has AM/FM presets, EQ controls and iHome’s “Reson8″ speaker chambers which provide “astounding clarity, depth and power.” Oh and an alarm function too.

It will run on a pair of AA batteries, so you can take it with you anywhere, or can be charged via the AC charger. Expect it to be available sometime this month. It’s great for charging your Zune while playing music.

Zune HD 64 shows up

Posted in Zune HD by Conner Flynn on March 29th, 2010

The link may not work, but look at that. The Zune HD 64 has made an appearance on the official Zune website. Seems like Microsoft has something they want to tell us.

A 64GB Zune HD, which doubles the capacity of the previous model and means that we have three models to choose from. There’s no further info on it just yet, but as soon as Microsoft wants to stop teasing us and give us some real info, we’ll let you know.

Zune HD2 already on the way?

Posted in Zune HD by Conner Flynn on March 10th, 2010

Seems like just the other day the Zune HD arrived, but already rumors are circulating about a Zune HD2 that “will be similar to an iPod Touch,” and could ship this year. It could be part of the “Windows Phone 7 Series platform” and run Windows Phone 7 apps.

There’s no word on when we might see this theoretical Zune HD successor, but a Zune with the Windows Phone 7 interface might be just the thing Microsoft is looking for to tie it all together. Hopefully we will hear more about this soon.

New pics of Microsoft Courier

Posted in Microsoft by Conner Flynn on March 7th, 2010

Some new pics have surfaced of Microsoft’s dual-screen Courier, and it looks like it should be a decent competitor to the iPad. Some new details accompany the new pics as well. The device is less than inch thick, weighs just over a pound, and the two screens are about the size of a 5 x 7 photo.

There’s apparently a built-in camera and the NVIDIA Tegra 2 graphics processor will be driving a version of the Zune HD and Windows Phone 7 interfaces.

Windows Phone 7

Posted in Microsoft by Conner Flynn on February 15th, 2010

Microsoft has officially launched the Windows Phone 7 and with it the Windows Phone Series, with the promise that we’ll see the first devices on the market by the holiday 2010 shopping season. Windows Phone 7 most definitely has the user in mind with Zune and Xbox integration.

And it looks and presumably feels more like an iPhone. The UI is simple and elegant. The folks over at MSDN have a 22 minute video walkthrough that explains everything. It looks like Microsoft has really nailed it here. Hit the link below to check it out.

Microsoft cuts Zune HD prices to fight competition

Posted in Zune HD by Conner Flynn on February 7th, 2010

Over the past few days Microsoft has silently cut prices on the Zune HD through an at least temporary promo. Microsoft’s media player now costs $190 for a 16GB model at Amazon. That’s $32 less than the original price. The 32GB model has also dropped to $250.

Microsoft’s very own store has dropped its prices as well, to $200 for a 16GB Zune HD and $270 for a 32GB edition. It’s looking like a great time to buy a Zune. Walmart and some other retailers are also closely matching those prices on Amazon.

Zune Phone to be unveiled at MWC

Posted in Zune Phone by Conner Flynn on February 1st, 2010

Looks like the long rumored Zune Phone will make its debut at Mobile World Congress later this month, if you believe Spanish blog MuyComputer. According to them, “the Zune Phone presentation at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress 2010 is 100% confirmed.”

They also say that the Zune Phone will feature a 480 x 272 resolution display, HDMI video out, run on Windows 7 and make all your dreams of an anti-Jesus Phone come true.

Lala to give iPhones, Apple tablets an online locker?

Posted in Apple by Conner Flynn on January 19th, 2010

No one seemed to know exactly what Apple intended to do with Lala after it bought the company, but now it looks like Apple may be looking to use it for an online locker for users’ music. Where users will be able to access collections anywhere, through a web browser, or through the iPhone, Apple tablet etc.

Everything would be stored in the cloud, so users could free up memory on their devices. Since customers already own the music, Apple won’t need to renegotiate with labels to get sharing rights. Microsoft has a similar service, but it’s not the same thing. Microsoft charges a $15 monthly fee for a Zune Pass, which offers you unlimited access to the entire Zune Marketplace music catalog.

Posted in Zune Phone by Conner Flynn on January 19th, 2010

So remember all of the Project Pink/Zune Phone rumors from way back? Well, they have started again thanks to a statement by Jefferies analyst Katherine Egbert:

“Our recent industry checks indicate Microsoft will be debuting its own phone sometime in the next two months…We expect the new phone to debut soon, at either the Feb 15-18 Mobile World Congress conference in Barcelona Spain, or possibly at CTIA in Las Vegas one month later.”

iPod Touch bedding

Posted in iPod by Conner Flynn on January 3rd, 2010

This is how the true Apple fanboy/girl sleeps. Why leave your precious iPod Touch every night when you can sleep with it. In it. It’s like you are part of the OS, all snug and cozy in your case.

You get the covers that look like an iPod touch and a matching pillow. Only $49. Does that mean you can’t get new blankets until they do a firmware upgrade? Me, I’d rather sleep in a Zune. I just need more space.
