If you do a lot of cooking, you’ve probably thought about getting a laptop or other device just for your kitchen so you can always have recipes on hand. The Demy Digital Recipe Reader is all you need for your recipe needs. It will show you all of your ingredients so you can make light Martha Stewart. The device is small so it won’t take up much room and it has a touchscreen display.

If you’re looking for something new to eat, it features a recipe database as well. The built-in memory will let you store 2,500 recipes. You can transfer them via USB. As you might expect, it’s splash resistant and even has three cooking timers, a substitutions database and a conversion tool. You can pre-order it for $299 and it will be available by the end of the month.

And thank god, cuz that one is fugly. Makes me queasy just looking at it. Fujitsu recently intro’d the new LifeBook A1110 15.4-inch consumer- oriented notebook with a swappable lid. That way you can show your style with a green mod labyrinth, bright pink with butterflies, or a cool blue Victorian print. The green mod labyrinth pis making me dizzy.

Fujitsu’s LifeBook A1110 is powered by an Intel Centrino 2 and comes with the Core 2 Duo P7350 or T5800 processor, up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, up to 320GB of hard drive space, and a DVD burner. Some other features are a 1.3MP webcam, 802.11n wireless module, Ethernet LAN port, 56K modem, Bluetooth, three USB ports, ExpressCard and SD Card slots, and a VGA output. It only weighs 6.3 pounds and runs on Windows Vista Home Premium OS. The LifeBook A1110 retails for $799.

Looking like typical Samsung LCD digital photo frames, these have an interesting and more useful feature. You can use them as a secondary PC monitor and you won’t need a special video card. The 8-Inch Samsung SPF-85H LCD will cost you $142 and 10-inch Samsung SPF-105P LCD costs $204.

Thanks to some hocus pocus called UbiSync PC, you can display computer imagery on them via the USB port. The 8-inch version will give you 800×600 resolution, while the 10-inch has a 1024×600 screen. Both models offer 1GB of internal image storage and a memory card slot if you want to use them as a plain old digital photo frame. Pretty cool.

It’s funny to see what type of person uses what USB flash drive. It says a lot about your personality. Jacques Cousteau would love the Squid flash drive, while Mahjong fans would want the Mahjong tile flash drive. But when it comes to a BBQ flash drive, who ya gonna call? George Foreman comes to mind, but he’d have to juggle it with the real thing and not get them confused.

This IBM concept laptop looks like something from an alternate dimension. It’s the kind of laptop we might be using had the cold war never ended and spies were everywhere and issued these laptops by Q.

It’s a concept by Nicolas Lehotzky. The most interesting thing about it is the giant security “knob” which is fingerprint activated and allows the laptop to respond only to the owner’s touch, acting as a physical lock. It also has hidden USB ports and a trusty built-in paper shredder. It goes well with the watches depicting the Bond villains.

Apple has now added a 24-inch Cinema Display to accompany their 20, 23 and 30 inch versions. The difference here is that the new version adds an LED backlight and built-in iSight with mic, 1920×1200 resolution, built-in stereo speakers, plus 3 port usb hub. The cable also has a Mag Safe connector, USB, and mini Display Port that will run off the monitor. It will be available in November for the price of $899.

Super Talent is offering some terra cotta warrior USB drives that are life-like replicas of the ancient Xi’an warriors. They are just, you know, about 7cm tall. They’re fully compatibility with USB 1.1 and 2.0 and can be had in 1GB-8GB capacity. The drive also supports password protection.

In case you weren’t aware, in 1974 in Xi’an, China farmers were digging a well and discovered a huge underground cavern containing thousands of life sized terra cotta warriors. It was all very Indiana Jones. Funny thing is, in two thousand years, they’ll dig up a stash of these drives that some dude laid out all in a row and attribute some deep meaning to how we shaped our drives into the likeness of warriors. But really, some dude in a warehouse was just playing army guys.

Ahhh. The floppy disk. It once housed all of our data, but now they reside in landfills and in the closets of pack-rats everywhere. Or on the desks of those who are stuck in the past. They held just over 1 MB each. I bet you feel nostalgic for them, just like when you see an 8-track tape.

Sony’s PS3 SIXAXIS and Dual Shock 3 controllers being wireless, are going to need a charge after awhile. That’s why Sony has their own AC adapter for both controllers, for almost $30, available starting December 18th. With the AC adapter, you’ll get a few USB ports, allowing you to charge up to two controllers at the same time. We don’t know if this is going to show up outside of Japan or not, but we hope so. It’s better then leaving your PS3 powered up all night.

When I buy speakers or other gadgets for my computer, I like them to look like speakers. Some people out there obviously feel differently and like to buy stuff that doesn’t look like it is supposed to look. I guess the fad all started with the nanny cams years ago that looked like stuffed animals.

LG has finally made the LG KC780 slider handset official. Aka the Portrait Phone. The WTF phone may have been more apt since it sports an 8 megapixel camera, yet lacks some key features like 3G and Wi-Fi and GPS navigation, but what do I know? On the other hand, you get Face and Smile detection, automatic modes for new users, even a Beauty Mode that glams you up and gets rid of imperfections on your face.

ISO 1600 lets you capture better images in the dark, while on the other extreme a Smart Light setting helps with brightness. The handset also doubles as a webcam. Some other features include: GSM 900/1800/1900, GPRS/EDGE connectivity, 2.4? 240×320 QVGA 262k color display, FM radio, Built-in accelerometer, DivX playback, 140MB of user memory, microSD memory card slot, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR connectivity.

The makers of this lamp/iPod dock obviously believe in simplicity as well as educating people Sesame Street style on the letter C. It is a space saver. We’ve seen our share of iPod docks and USB lamps, but not together in the same device, that I’m aware of.

The Conof USB lamp has a bright light and can swivel 270 degrees, making it extra useful. Not many details, but it appears to have dual USB ports, so you can dock your iPod and another item of your choice. The lamp is powered via the USB port on your computer. Once you tire of this device, maybe they’ll throw some “D” letter action your way with another like it.
