USB Eye MassagerThe number of seemingly useless products you can connect to your USB port is not even coming close to ending. Case in point is this USB Eye Massager from ThisNext. I mean seriously, how do things like this come to be?

Did someone sitting at their desk really wish they had a USB powered device shaped like two little fingers that vibrated so they could massage their eyes? Or, did someone have access to a few components they couldn’t sell and decided to combine them into one kick-ass vibrating USB eye massager?

Either way the device …

Posted in Mouse by Reuben Drake on July 25th, 2007

Footime mouse controlled by your feetThe name of the FOOTIME Foot Mouse pretty much says it all. By placing these USB powered devices on the floor beneath your desk you can use your feet to control your mouse leaving you hands free for “other things”.

One foot can control the movement of the mouse while the other uses large buttons that control tasks such as left clicking, right clicking and even to simulate a double click. There is also a side-to-side scroll wheel that actual controls up and down movements like a mouse wheel would. There are also …

Brando USB Can Cooler/Warmer

Posted in Coolers, USB by Reuben Drake on July 14th, 2007

USB can cooler and warmer from BrandoIt appears that finding a good and efficient cooling mechanism for a single canned beverage at your desk is a little hard to come by. We’ve seen the little USB Mini Fridge and that little “cold plate“, but neither can get anything real cold, real fast.

This USB Can Cooler and Warmer from Brando looks like a noble attempt but its unclear just how good of a job of warming or cooling it really does. It’s completely USB powered which is nice and it can warm things up to what …

iRiver Clix Cradle

Posted in Dock, Speakers, iRiver by Darrin Olson on July 1st, 2007

iRiver Clix CradleCompanies are more often making it easier now to share you music from personal media players with speaker accessories, which I have to say works much better than having to put your heads together and each take an earbud.

This desire to share the sound grows along with more media players that show video since multiple people can watch and naturally would like to hear what’s going on, too. iRiver has a new accessory for the Clix 2 called the iRiver Clix Cradle, and consists of basically little more than an attachable speaker. The Clix …

Inflight Power Charges Your Gadgets in Coach

Posted in Chargers, USB by Chris Weber on June 29th, 2007

Inflight Power Recharger uses airplane headphone jackFirst class passengers often are fortunate enough to have an outlet in-flight while the rest of us have to scramble at the terminal looking behind chairs for an open outlet to charge our gadgets between flights. Inflight Power has a charger cable that may even things out a bit.

The Inflight USB Power Unit plugs into the headphone jack available in most coach seats, (now that most don’t use the two little “sound holes” any longer) and makes that electricity available through USB ports on the device. I’m not sure exactly how …

Shiny Red Iomega eGo USB Hard Drive Debuts

Posted in Accessories, Iomega, Storage, USB by Nino Marchetti on June 26th, 2007

iomega-ego-160.jpgIomega has quietly been kicking out all sorts of data storage products over the years. One of its newest, the Iomega eGo Drive, looks to continue the tradition in a stylish way.

The most striking thing about this USB 2.0 drive is its looks. It sports a curved cherry-red chassis with chrome endcaps. That’s a nice change from more generic external USB drives. I also like the fact this drive is USB powered - no more needing to pull out yet another power brick and search for a free outlet.

Universal Solar Charger from BrandoBrando has a new portable solar powered charger in their catalog that appears to be a fairly handy device. It measures only 137mm long and weighs a mere 240 grams which makes for a nice and compact fold-out package.

The charger uses solar power to charge up an internal battery that then can be used to power or charge your gadgets. It has a number of adapters from the standard USB output port to fit different types of gadgets, but what’s probably most notable is the fact that you can vary the …
