Mimoco has unveiled some new USB flash drives. Transformers. These are definitely more than meets the eye. It’s just Optimus Prime and Megatron for now. They may not actually transform, but they look cute as a button and come preloaded with screensavers, wallpapers, and digital comics.

What more do you want? They are available now, starting at $23 for 2GB of storage and going up to $60 for the 16GB model. I’m sure they will add more to the line soon.

Posted in 3D by Conner Flynn on February 22nd, 2011

If you somehow thought that the last Transformers movie was good, then you’ll no doubt want to see Transformers: Dark of the Moon this summer. You’ll also likely want to add $10 to the cost of each ticket, since Hasbro is offering these Transformers Cine-Mask 3D glasses.

They will be selling these in stores before the movie’s release and they are available in Optimus Prime and Bumblebee versions. The masks each have a standard set of RealD 3D glasses, which makes them suitable for most theaters out there and other 3D movies. Sadly there’s no adult sizes available.

Posted in Toys by Conner Flynn on February 15th, 2011

Hasbro has announced a new toy line this week called KRE-O. Think of it as their version of Lego. They come in some neat looking Transformers character kits. The kits will include Optimus Prime, of course, for $59.99.

Other smaller kits will also be offered, with mini collectible figures for about $8 and other kits like Bumblebee and Starscream will cost about $25. According to the company these blocks are compatible with “most” other building block systems on the market. That means your Legos should be compatible. Look for these this fall.

Xbox 360 Transformers All Spark mod

Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on January 20th, 2010

If you want to get the attention of some giant ass robots, then do what this guy did. Turn your XBox 360 into the All Spark. Just don’t be surprised when Optimus Prime shows up at your door and reaches through your house to get it.

Oh and the All Spark is supposed to turn all of your other stuff into robots, so this probably isn’t a good idea. Unless you like your XBox suddenly walking around and shooting at you. It’s a pretty sweet mod though. I just hope this guy is still in one piece.

Boxetti transforming home theater: A big box of ugly

Posted in Home Theater by Conner Flynn on January 17th, 2010

We love home theater systems. The large sound and movie experience is awesome. But it can be challenging setting up all of the speakers and the rest of it. The Boxetti Thrill might make things easier, keeping it all in one place. It’s a home theater cabinet from Lithuanian designer Rolands Landsbergs.

When not in use, it looks like an ugly piece of furniture, a washer maybe, but when it’s movie time, it opens up Transformers style to reveal a full home theater rig including speakers and a flat screen TV on a motorized lift. There’s even hidden storage area for your DVDs and Blu-Rays. Problem is it doesn’t get any less fugly.

Sega Saturn Joystick transforms into an insect

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on October 15th, 2009

Sega Saturn Joystick transforms into an insectThis Sega Saturn joystick has two identities. One is a mild mannered joystick, the other is a killer Insecticon. It also goes by “Robo-Space-Bug,” according to its creator, James Ian Killinger. Apparently Killinger didn’t have to completely re-engineer the joystick to make it transform.

It has all of the original components and three extra screws. That’s it, just three extra screws. One wonders what he could do with four extra screws. Or five. The man is clearly a genius and it’s clear that we have been taking screws for granted.

USB Optimus Prime speakers

Posted in Speakers by Conner Flynn on July 2nd, 2009

USB Optimus Prime speakersYou might think that if you have some Transformers speakers, they would…transform. Sadly, that’s not the case with these USB Optimus Prime speakers. The only thing that moves are Optimus’ ears, turning him into Prince Charles or a robot elephant.

Other than that, it will blast your favorite tunes. The only thing that transforms is your wallet, which loses $50 on this pair of desktop speakers.

Twitter device tweets your heartbeat to your followers

Posted in twitter by Conner Flynn on June 28th, 2009

Twitter device tweets your heartbeatIf you’ve done the whole tweeting every time your unborn child kicks, perhaps it’s time for something a bit creepier. This device will give your Twitter followers a live feed of your heartbeat, including “pre-recorded” messages to announce your death should you shuffle off this mortal coil.

This DIY project is open source and will send the news of your heart directly to the internet. That way should you stop supporting the Iranian revolution, we will all know why. It was probably one too many cheetos and the terrible let-down of a Transformers movie that was too much for your soul to take.

Botropolis: This week in robots

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on June 26th, 2009

Botropolis: This week in robotsThere was a bunch of robot news this week over at Botropolis. We were still recovering from how shockingly bad the Terminator movie was and the new Transformers flick that debuted didn’t impress us much either. Thank god we still have a never ending stream of robot related goodness to get us through. Here’s some of what we covered this week.

Rubber-Band Firing Wooden Robot: He’s cranked by hand.

Comic Books: Skull Headed Robot Fights Giant Monsters From Greek Mythology.

Daleks: Dalek Patrol Attacked By Roboraptors.

Robot vs. Washing Machine: Robot wins.

Botropolis: This week in robots

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on June 19th, 2009

Botropolis: This week in robotsIt isn’t easy keeping track of all the robot toys, apparel, etc, while also keeping a watchful eye on various robotic Frankenstein creations over at Botropolis. Luckily we have a sharp team that isn’t afraid to take caffeine intravenously. There’s also the added incentive of me letting the team use my underground Bot-shelter whenever we do face an imminent robot attack. What they don’t know is that I have a few traps installed. Stuff like a trap-door with Rancor pit beneath. You know, if rations start to get low. Hey, I have to look out for me. But I digress. Here’s some of what we covered this week.

Contest: Win a Pimp Bender T-shirt.

Damn that’s huge: Giant Gundam now complete.

Wall-E: New toy actually cleans.

Transformers: Devastator Has Balls.

Botropolis: This week in robots

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on June 12th, 2009

Botropolis: This week in robotsAnother week has come and gone. As usual, we’ve been keeping tabs on all things robot over at Botropolis. We haven’t had any reports of muscle-bound freaks appearing naked in the street and asking after John Connor, but hell, it’s only 2009. Still, we’re keeping our eyes peeled and we are your first line of defense. When they do strike, we will be ready with up to the minute updates. Here’s some of what we covered this week.

Magic: Octavia the robot gets fooled.

RoboFlush: For the extremely lazy.

T-Shirt: Robots In Disguise.

Fall Out Boy: New Robot Comic Books.
