Calvin Klein offers new pair of 3D sunglasses

Posted in 3D by Conner Flynn on November 5th, 2010

Calvin Klein, like Gucci, has no shame when it comes to cheap marketing, so the fashion brand name is now outing some 3D-capable sunglasses.

The patent-pending curved 3D glasses from Marchon3D have been printed with the CK logo. Sure, they are more stylish than a typical pair of 3D glasses, but to me they still don’t look very appealing. No word on price yet, but I’m sure they will be expensive.

Amazon Kindle ad makes fun of iPad’s daylight reading problems

Posted in kindle by Conner Flynn on September 13th, 2010

Amazon is laying the smack down in the e-reader wars, with this latest ad for the third-generation Kindle that directly attacks Apple’s iPad. The 30-second ad, already shown on ABC, points out that the iPad’s glossy LCD is hard to read in bright daylight. It shows that the Kindle doesn’t have that problem.

In fact, it is so easy to read, that this sexy Kindle owner can keep her sunglasses on. The ad also points out that a Kindle costs just $139 versus the iPad’s $499 starting price. Ouch!

Tag-Heuer Eyewear offers $450 Squadro Night Vision Optics glasses

Posted in Accessories by Shane McGlaun on July 15th, 2010

I have a few sets of name brand sunglasses and surprisingly I have managed to not sit on them or lose them for a few years now. We can all understand the need for sunglasses when we drive, but some folks have a bigger problem with night driving thanks to glare than day driving.

Tag-Heuer Eyewear has unveiled a new line of glasses for night driving that have special lenses in them. The special lenses are supposed to reduce glare and help improve night vision. Apparently, a bunch of racecar drivers wear these things when racing at night.

Wi-Fi TV conceptForget the fact that this thing looks like some hopped up PSP wearing bright orange sunglasses. The extremely eye-catching WiFi Tv is basically a handheld internet television that is designed to access on-demand TV services that are available on the internet.

The idea is that TV shows and films can be streamed straight from the internet to the 6-inch touchscreen display. It boasts two slide-out speakers that supposedly provide a comfortable hand position, though we don’t see it. There’s even storage for Bluetooth headphones and a charging point.

Nike Bicycle Glasses give you super vision

Posted in Apparel by Conner Flynn on October 22nd, 2008

Nike Bicycle Glasses give you super visionNike is developing a pair of glasses for bike riding that could very well save your life. The glasses will extend your peripheral vision so that you are able to see objects behind you. The Nike Hindsight glasses have a special lens on the sides that allows for a field of view greater than the human limit of 180º. It will give you an extra 25º of viewing on both sides, making you see things like some bugs no doubt see the world.

The lenses distort the images on the side but the human eye can only detect motion in that area anyway, so the image will remain clear to you. You’ll be able to see cars or pedestrians coming up from behind you. It’s still a concept at the moment, but I’m sure this is one we will actually see in about 5 years or so.

The Vertical Bed: For those too lazy to lay down

Posted in Sleep by Conner Flynn on September 24th, 2008

The Vertical Bed: For those too lazy to lay downThe artist who created this concept will tell you that it’s some artsy-fartsy way to make a statement and get yourself some polyphasic sleep, which is the practice of sleeping multiple times in a 24-hour period, but really it’s just an excuse to be lazy whenever and wherever you want. So lazy that you don’t even lay down. In fact, it’s a new epidemic of laziness sweeping the globe. This guy basically walks around with his Vertical Bed in a suitcase, finds himself a nice spot, anchors his bed above subway vents and sleeps for about 40 minutes a pop.

Whole damn days must really pass him by. There’s a concealed harness that makes sure he doesn’t fall over and sleep horizontally. He’s also wearing noise canceling headphones and double-mirrored sunglasses, padded with little cushions that keep his eyelids closed. In case of bad weather, an umbrella clips in the infrastructure for shelter. I don’t know, sounds like he’s doing a lot to force his body into sleep. But that’s not the worst of it.

Tie Spy Camera makes spying look dorky

Tie Spy Camera makes spying look dorky

…At least that’s the impression one gets from the picture of the guy wearing it, on the product site. Apparently the Tie Spy makes you wear dark sunglasses and pretend you are a G-Man. A G-Man with a tacky tie who stands out like…Well, like an overly happy dork with a surveillance device in his tie.

They claim that the camera in this tie is the world’s smallest color pinhole camera. But then again they also claim that this tie is fashionable. You can record exactly what you see while wearing it. No external power is needed, since it just connects directly with an included MP4 player. Some of the specs on the MP4 player include: 512MB Memory with the ability to get 1GB using an SD card. 2.5 Inch TFT OLED display, with a resolution of 320×240. Even with the MP4 player thrown in, this tie still probably won’t make you feel like James Bond. Who knows, you might get some dirt on a co-worker, but more likely you’ll just collect videos of your walk to work. From your tie’s point of view of course.

Yelpie portable safe works better than your shoe

Posted in Security by Darrin Olson on October 23rd, 2007

Yelpie portable safe has motion alarm and can go with you to the beachThis portable safe from Yelpie is a pretty smart idea to help keep your valuables safe while your outdoors and especially at activities like the beach. The small safe is portable enough to take with you but big enough to hold most of your smaller valuable items that you wouldn’t take into the drink such as keys, wallet or sunglasses.

I’ve always trusted the fact that if I put my valuables such as car keys and wallet in my shoe, it somehow defied the ability of even the most cunning of thieves. For extra protection I would push the items way down into the toe where no one would ever think to look, but I’ve been told this isn’t completely fool proof. While the Yelpie safe makes it pretty obvious that it indeed has values inside, it’s configured with some security measures to help ensure the valuables stay put.
