Sony selling ‘PlayStation Protection Plan’

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on May 4th, 2010

Sony’s game consoles are solidly built and super reliable, sure there’s the occasional issue, but they don’t exactly suffer the RRoD. Even so, things can happen. And if you’re willing to pay for peace of mind, Sony has a new service agreement.

The “PlayStation Protection Plan,” extends the full warranty on your PlayStation 3 or PSP for another year or two. Sony’s plan requires you to mail your system to Sony and wait for the repair or replacement system; GameStop’s warranty allows you to turn in your system and leave with a replacement. Apparently controllers and cables are included with the GameStop protection plan, while Sony only covers the system itself.

Gametech PSP cases pretty up your PSPThe PSP is cool and all, but like any other device, it’s outer shell is boring. Gametech has the answer and wants to glam up your PSP with a set of protector cases coming out that make your portable look like a work of art. The designs are the bright patterns of Japanese woodcarvings and traditional paintings.

Their new line’s name translates to Wasabi Beautiful Colors and they come in durable hard covers, flexible soft covers, and gauze capsule cases that make your PSP look like it was wrapped. They’ll be available in Japan at the end of the month, and they’ll probably hit other countries soon after.

Make your PSP glow like a nuclear accident
Want your PSP to glow like it just set off the geiger counter? These replacement covers will give it an otherworldly glow. Just put your PSP in daylight for a few minutes, and then switch off the lights and watch your system glow.

The XCM Magic Night Glow face plate attaches to the front of your Sony PSP (slim model only. Sorry fatties.), and gives you a cool lights off look. They come in a variety of colors, including pearl, yellow, blue, red, green, and pink. Most of them glow in a different hue when in the dark.

Gelaskins wants to jazz up your DS and PSP
We recently told you about Colorware customizing PSPs and the DS, but as cool as it would be to have them pimp your handheld, some people can’t afford it. Gelaskins has a much cheaper alternative.

Gelaskins is known for doing laptops, iPods, phones etc. but they have branched out to the PSP and the DS. For the PSP, they offer free wallpapers to go with the skin. Similar to what they already do for the iPod Touch. On the DS the skin covers both the outside cover and the inside. It will cost you $19.95. On the DS the skin covers both the outside cover and the inside.
