Thrustmaster shows off Wii gaming accessories

Posted in Controllers by Shane McGlaun on October 2nd, 2009

thrustmasterwiifitThe Nintendo Wii proved for the first time that a video game console doesn’t always make players fat and lazy. With the introduction of Wii Fit and the motion required to play Wii sports many gamers found that playing video games could be a work out. Thrustmaster has announced new accessories for the Wii, including some for Wii Fit users.

The Elite Fitness Pack+ NW features a pair of weights for your wrists or ankles, a riser for the balance board to make it a step aerobic platform, a pedometer, a workout mat, and a carry bag. The kit will also be offered with only the riser, mat, and pedometer for $29.99.

Blaze 3-in-1 selector: Switch between Nintendo DS Lite gamesChances are that if you have ADD, you probably also play video games. You probably just don’t sit with any game for very long. Well here’s a new toy for you. This little device will alow you to quickly flip between your favorite games on your Nintendo DS Lite. You can choose from 3 different games with just the flick of a switch.

EA announces N-Strike 2 Nerf game for Wii

Posted in EA by Shane McGlaun on July 9th, 2009

nerfnstrike2-sbLast Christmas my son really wanted the Nerf game for the Nintendo Wii from Santa. The game was a cool kid friendly shooter that also could be used with a special Nerf blaster that could hold a Wii remote and shoot real darts. The catch was that the game and the blaster were sold separately.

EA has announced the follow up to the game, which will ship this fall and will be called Nerf 2: N-Strike Elite. The game will ship with a special Nerf Switch Shot EX-3 blaster that features a special red decoder eyepiece that flips up.

Nintendo DS glucose reader for kids with diabetes

Posted in Nintendo DS by Conner Flynn on July 5th, 2009

Nintendo DS glucose reader for kids with diabetesOnce in a while something truly useful surfaces for the Nintendo DS. This is a blood glucose meter plugs into the DS / DS Lite’s Slot-2. Consistent glucose testing by the diabetic child (or adult?) is rewarded with points in a game that can be used to buy items or unlock levels. Sadly the new DSi doesn’t have a Slot-2, so those kids will be left out.

Bayer’s DIDGET meter was developed in conjunction with Paul Wessel, the parent of a child with type 1 diabetes. Paul noticed that his son was constantly losing his blood glucose meter, but he always knew where to find his Nintendo Game Boy. That inspired Paul and Bayer to work together to develop the first and only blood glucose meter that connects to the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite.

Nintendo DS Chocolate Case

Posted in Nintendo DS by Conner Flynn on June 30th, 2009

Nintendo DS Chocolate CaseI like sweets just as much as the next guy, but if you have a case for your DS that makes it look like a chocolate bar, you may have a bit of a candy problem. At least it looks better than the Chocolate iPhone case. And it melts on your portable, not in your hands.

Well, if you are crazy for chocolate, you might as well lay down $10 on the NDS Lite Chocolate Case from gadget4all.com, but it will only make you hungry, so in the end you and your DS will be fatter as a result.

Cyber Coin Assist for the DS

Posted in Nintendo DS by Conner Flynn on June 17th, 2009

Cyber Coin Assist for the DSI don’t know about you, but I’ve never had a problem using the Nintendo DS’ D-pad. Apparently some people do, since this gadget now exists. Most people who play the DS Lite won’t find the Cyber Coin Assist necessary. There may however be a few out there who need the extra thumb support.

For those people, putting the Cyber Coin Assist over the D-pad may just make their portable gaming more enjoyable. We don’t have any info on pricing, but it should be out later this July. I’m saying right now that if people are willing to pay more than $2, I’d be really surprised.

Wii gets camera motion gaming too

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on June 4th, 2009

Wii gets camera motion gaming tooWii can haz Project Natal tu? Yep. But it isn’t coming from Nintendo. The Wii will soon get camera-based, Project Natal-like motion sensing for at least one fitness game. From Ubisoft. It’s called “Your Shape”.

Ubisoft’s version is like a Project Natal Lite. That’s because it’s a game accessory, not a system accessory. It tracks some motion, but not all. In fact, not much. Your body is used more for feedback than game control. Video below.

We covered this literally a year ago, but since all the other gadget blogs wanna act like it’s new, we figured we’d share it again. Just for Kicks. Get it? Kicks?

Kid gets rocks in Nintendo DS box

Posted in Nintendo DS by Conner Flynn on April 29th, 2009

Nintendo offers two new DS Lite bundlesJodi Wykle just wanted to get her son a new Nintendo DS for his birthday. Sadly, what he got was a box of rocks. The story goes that the kid opened up his gift only to find bunch of stones and some rolled up Chinese newspaper in place of the popular handheld.

Doesn’t that just suck. Maybe the kid had it coming and it’s the work of Santa, who is sadly a few months behind…Or ahead of schedule. Whatever the case, the mom contacted the local Wal-Mart where she bought the box, but reportedly workers told her it wasn’t their problem and that she should contact Nintendo. Big surprise, Nintendo told her the same thing.

Nintendo DS Lite gets GPS Everything else you own Already has GPS navigation. Your car, your phone, even the Sony PSP has a GPS option. Now it’s time for the Nintendo DS to get into the GPS game. You know, in case you want to locate a gamestop.

Designed by China’s Fab Chain, the Ranger is a GPS module for your NDS Lite. It will display maps in both 2D and fake 3D perspective modes, and even has automatic day/night modes. Limited edition Gyakuten Kenji Nintendo DSi

Posted in Nintendo DSi by Conner Flynn on April 6th, 2009

Limited edition Gyakuten Kenji Nintendo DSiFans of Ace Attorney will be happy to know that Capcom is releasing a new game based on the famous series at the end of this month. Capcom is all set to release a limited edition DSi branded with Taihokun, the Police Mascot designed by Gumshoe (a Character in the game) and a special package including the new opus of the Ace Attorney series.

It may not be as cool as the GTA: Chinatown Wars Ds Lite, but it’s cooler than the Kingdom Hearts DSi. It’s nice to see so much variety in Nintendo’s handheld lately.

GTA: Chinatown Wars DS Lite

Posted in Nintendo DS by Conner Flynn on March 19th, 2009

GTA: Chinatown Wars DS LiteEarlier in the week, the Nintendo World Store in New York celebrated the release of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the DS. To honor the occasion, there was a special midnight release party with the usual free stuff and special giveaways.

The above DS Lite was one of those giveaways. And yes, I feel your pain and also wish I was there. Lucky bastitches. Check out the GTA:CTW chopstick styluses, which I’m sure gives Nintendo all kinds of ideas about a game that teaches one how to use them.

Possible Nintendo DSi price and release date

Posted in Nintendo by Conner Flynn on January 14th, 2009

Possible Nintendo DSi price and release dateIf you believe the guys over at IGN, it seems that Nintendo’s DSi will be dropping much sooner than anyone had thought. There’s also a rumored price for the new DSi. IGN’s sources put the DSi’s release somewhere around April 4. The price is apparently going to be $179.99. It’s much higher than the DS Lite at $129.99 due to the DS Lite’s popularity. So, they want to squeeze some extra Mario coins out of ya.

Nintendo wants buyers to see the DS Lite as the system for casual gamers and the DSi to be seen as the system for serious gamers. Looks like the info is dead on, but until Nintendo makes an official announcement, it’s still speculation.

Custom Desert Eagle may be the strangest Wii gun mod yet

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on January 5th, 2009

Custom Desert Eagle may be the strangest Wii gun mod yeteBay seller fordelite_76 is just brimming with confidence that you will bid and bid high on this auction for a custom Wii gun they created. I can tell, because he uses a lot of asterisks and the word AWESOME sandwiched in between. That’s confidence. And why not? “IT WORKS GREAT AND LOOKS BETTER THAN ANY OTHER WII GUN OUT THERE ..I HAVENT SEEN …”

Who could argue with that? It looks so realistic with the large white Wiimote attached bayonet style. I bet the thinking was that if you can’t frag your enemy from a distance, just approach and stab your TV Civil War style. Another strange thing is that in the pics the gun appears to be hardwired to the Wimote’s B button via a bent hanger wire that pulls the trigger. Now that’s craftsmanship.
