Elecom’s Nano SSD is a mini Solid State Drive hardisk that can be installed directly on your computer’s motherboard so that it’s out of your way. It measures just 25mm x 6.5mm x 39mm and supports Serial ATA Revision 2.6 specifications and delivers a high speed data transfer.

It’s priced at 13,900 Yen or about $165. You can get the Elecom Nano SSD in 8GB and 16GB storage capacities.

The InnoDisk 128GB Nano SSD drive is not your typical micro USB flash drive. It’s a full fledged 128GB beast in a micro form. Future netbooks will have more storage in less space with the InnoDisk installed, which leaves room for other cool stuff. And we do want it all in a small form factor.

It’s pretty awesome. In the video above, the tiny drive functions flawlessly with 20g’s of accelerative force being placed on it.

You could always just wait for Apple to release its first netbook, but you may be in for a long wait. But if you’re in China, turns out you can now get one. Manufacturers in Shenzhen got sick of waiting and created their own netbook. Like any copycat, they had to make some adjustments to the design, ike the inverted fruit on the top cover.

When it comes to specs, the WF188 actually isn’t too shabby. It features a 10-inch LED display with a resolution of 1024 x 576, a 1.3Ghz Via Nano processor with the VIA VX855 chipset, and a max of 2GB RAM. You can choose between a 160GB hard drive or up to 64GB SSD. Bluetooth, 802.11b/g wireless, and 3.5G HSDPA connectivity.

Jeffrey Stephenson is no stranger to awesome casemods. He’s outdone himself this time however, with this one, dedicated to the Ingraham Cabinet Co., creator of radio cases in the WWII era. Larger capacity solid-state drives will be on their way soon from SanDisk. That’s because SanDisk and Toshiba are working together on a new 43-nanometer manufacturing process which will give us SSDs with the same capacity as those of today’s typical 2.5″ hard drives.

Flash memory is the natural replacement for hard drives in ultra-small notebooks like the MacBook Air and Asus Eee PC, because they use less power, generate less heat, and have faster access times than hard drives. The only downside is that as the Gbs go up the cost will get higher.

Sandisk recently announced that they along with Toshiba are planning on shipping their next generation of NAND flash memory in the first quarter of 2007 as they begin a transition in production at one of their joint wafer fabrication plants. The transition will mark the beginning of producing 56 nanometer multi-level cell flash memory chips from the previous 70 nanometer production. This will create the industry’s highest available density in a single chip MLC NAND flash memory.
