Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on July 6th, 2009

Best Buy to offer 80GB PS3 bundle with MGS4 and Killzone 2?Great news. It’s not exactly a price cut, but it looks like Sony may be about to offer one of its best deals to date to PS3 customers, with some help from Best Buy. Apparently, this is an effort to clear out the 80GB PS3s once and for all (to make way for… the PS3 slim?), Best Buy will selling a bundle that includes the console, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Killzone 2.

All for the usual price of $399.99. Not a price cut, but you get a lot more for your money. This bundle is supposedly set to go on sale as soon as next Sunday. Some of them have apparently already made their way into the stores’ back rooms.

Sales of the console have increased 28 percent this year alone, and over 20 million people are signed up to the Xbox Live network.

So what will Microsoft be showing off at E3 for the Xbox 360? We’ll have to wait and see, but likely we will be getting a look at the new motion-sensing camera, Metal Gear Solid 4 for the Xbox 360, and who knows what else? One thing is for sure, the Xbox 360 is kicking butt and taking names.

Metal Gear Solid Touch hits App Store

Posted in Apple by Shane McGlaun on March 19th, 2009

mgst-sbOne of the games that drove me to buy my first Sony PlayStation was Metal Gear Solid. I really liked that game, though I didn’t find many of the sequels to be as much fun as the original. One of the hallmarks of the Metal Gear series was that it was a PlayStation exclusive game.

Konami has taken the series outside the Sony fold and is now offering a new title called Metal Gear Solid Touch for the iPhone and iPod touch. The game is available now on the App Store for $7.99. Konami says that the game has been redesigned to take advantage of the controls used on the iPhone and touch.

Sony working on downloadable comic service for PSPLooks like SCEE is prototyping a new addition to the PSP PlayStation Store. According to a tipster, Sony is planning a service that will let you download digital comics directly to your PSP. Survey participants were asked to watch the video below and to help determine a pricing scheme: subscription or a la carte prices.

Digital comics aren’t new to the PSP, like the Metal Gear Solid comics for instance. The interactive comics were enhanced with slight animation, music and even sound effects. The PlayStation Store currently only has one digital comic available for download: The Cryptics, which will cost you $2.99.

Custom-made Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on October 21st, 2008

Custom-made Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3Konami’s limited edition Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 seems absolutely plain when compared to this custom-made system built by Morpheon Mods. It’s absolutely drool worthy and available for auction on eBay. Some of the features include a laser-cut, stainless steel MGS4 marquee, a laser-etched image of Solid Snake himself, a carbon fiber Fox Hound logo on the back, and 14 white micro LEDs to light it all up. That’s Hideo Kojima’s autograph as well.

It’s a fully backwards compatible 60GB PS3. You know it isn’t going to be cheap. Bidding is already up to $2,550.00 with six days left. You’ll also get some other Metal Gear goodies with it, and 15% of the proceeds will go toward the Child’s Play charity. That is one beauty of a PS3. Go bid.

Metal Gear Solid metal rubber band gunCheck out this amazingly awesome rubber band gun based on the Konami PlayStation3 videogame Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The gun is of course made out of stainless steel and even includes a “precision laser pointer” to make sure you hit your target. The gun was designed by a Japanese fan who had a lot of time on his hands, rubber bands and mad skills with stainless steel. Is this heavy gun not a thing of beauty? Posted in PS3 by Darrin Olson on April 11th, 2008

Sony Playstation 3 Metal Gear Solid 4 console coming to the U.S.When we heard news that Sony and Konami where launching a Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 in Japan we of course wanted one but new that this was probably one of those cool, Japan-only things that we would never actually see here in the U.S. But, as it turns out Sony is going to be launching this gun metal colored PS3 console in the United States.

Unfortunately it sounds like this release will be a very limited edition in the U.S., so we probably still won’t get our hands on one but at least now there’s a better chance. The MGS4 PS3 along with its matching DualShock 3 controller has a U.S. launch date of June 12 and will come bundled with the game and the standard 80GB PS3.
