Gateway recently unveiled some new desktop PCs – some of which are new models and the rest of which are revamps of existing PC line ups. These new computers are mostly available now, with prices ranging from around $550 to $3,500.

Gateway specifically updated or added new FX, GT and DX Series models. The one pictured above, for example, is the FX7026. All of these computers offer either Intel or AMD processors and at least one available at retail still has Windows XP. For more details, check out the full press release after the jump.

Apple made some updates to its line of popular iMacs today, including adding the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors. These new iMacs have starting prices of around $1,200.

The refreshed iMacs now include, according to Apple, faster Intel Core 2 Duo processors across the line, a 1066 MHz front-side bus and up to 4GB of 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory. The 24-inch iMac also offers a 3.06 GHz Intel processor and the high-performance NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS graphics as options.

A niche computer maker by the name of Vology is claiming today the mantle of the world’s fastest gaming laptop. While we have yet to verify that, you can at least learn a little more about the Vology Limited Edition Predator X-2 and its $4,600 price tag.

The Vology Limited Edition Predator X-2, according to Vology, is outfitted with “an Intel Core 2 Quad 2.66GHz, nVidia GeForce 8800M GTX 512MB DDR3, and 4GB of DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz.” It includes as well a full size keyboard with personalized hot keys and a 17-inch monitor.

Puget Systems today announced the release of the Deluge, the companies most aggressive gaming rig to date. The systems can be highly customized but all of these liquid cooled systems feature some of the fastest and most powerful components available, including nVidia’s 780i triple-SLI, overclocked Intel 45nm Penryn processors and OCZ DDR2 heatpipe memory. Optional BigFoot Networks’ KillerNIC and MTron Solid State drives are also available.

If you were on Alienware’s newsletter list you might have gotten notice last night that the company has quietly made the new m15x gaming notebooks available for order. The new Area-51′s come have a few configurations in the lineup with the tow higher-end ones available now for $2099 and $2699.

The m15x is a 15.4-inch widescreen notebook with the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor and the NVIDIA GeForce 8800m GTX. You can get up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, dual HDD and high-def video and audio. They also feature Command Center and a Stealth Mode power management. There is also a $1499 model that is listed on the site but not available for order quite yet. As NotebookReview points out, the $2100 model looks to be a pretty decent deal with the Core 2 Duo processor, quality graphics card, fast HDD and 2GB of memory.

Hewlett Packard is showing off at CES this week several new consumer focused laptops as it reveals its 2008 product line up. One of these is the HP Pavilion HDX series Entertainment Notebook PC, priced at around $2,000 or so, depending upon configuration.

The HP Pavilion HDX series Entertainment Notebook PC offers 512 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS video graphics and the latest Intel Core 2 Extreme and Intel Core 2 Duo processor technologies. NVIDIA today unveiled a 512MB version of its GeForce 8800 GTS graphics card targeted towards PC gamers. The new Nividia GeForce 8800 GTS 512 MB is priced between around $300 and $350.

The Nividia GeForce 8800 GTS 512 MB card comes with what Nividia says is 25% more graphics processing than similar Nividia products offered in its price range. It sports a HD graphics engine which can do full offload of H.264 video decoding so the CPU can perform other tasks. It also supports SLI technology, though you’ll need another 512 MB card to pull this off.

NVIDIA has three new graphics cards on the market for low to medium end prices but with high end capabilities. The GeForce 8600 GTS, 8600 GT and the 8500 GT include processor advantages that were previously only capable in the 8800 series of cards including Shader Model 4.0 support, GigaThread technology, Quantum Effects physics processing capability and the Lumenex engine which gives 128-bit floating point HDR rendering performance and anti-aliasing levels of 16x.
