Sofa transport. That’s what we’ve been waiting for. The Sofa Bike is the creation of Jacek Holubowicz and was recently displayed at the International Design Festival in Berlin. It has two separate 8 gear hubs, hydraulic brakes which are operated by the front handlebar and dynamic chain steering.

We want one. It would get us off the couch- Wait, no. It also has a built in stereo, a 17 mAh battery, and a convertible roof that can be folded down.

Panasonic announces new compact camcorders

Panasonic has announced two camcorders for those of us with an active lifestyle. These models aren’t for couch potatoes. They offer a durable build, 1080p video recording modes, electronic image stabilization, mild waterproof/shockproof casings and high-resolution megapixel still pictures.

They go by the names of HX-WA10 and the candybar HM-TA20. The HX-WA10 is designed for shooting outdoors and in rainy conditions and can capture 16-megapixel still images. The HM-TA20 has a waterproof, shockproof and dustproof design and a Night View mode for dim lighting. The large 3-inch touchscreen LCD display that should make using it super easy.

Are you always losing your remote only to find it stuffed in the couch cushions a minute later? Too bad you don’t have a call button for your remote. Motorola is here to help with this charging station that has a button that will allow you and your remote to be reunited.

Just press the button and your remote will light up and make noise. This works through radio frequency “find” functionality. It can be charged in wall sockets or USB. There’s also a clock on the front of the charger.

Vimeo gets couch mode for Google TV, HTPCs

Vimeo has released what it calls “couch mode”. The interface allows users to get a full-screen video player, complete with oversized buttons and straightforward navigation to various video playlists, making it ideal for your Google TV or your HTPC.

Some features of couch mode include Vimeo’s HD playlist, staff picks, videos from subscribed channels and more. There’s also a “watch later” feature that allows you to bookmark videos without adding them to your favorites list. You’ll just need to be using Chrome or Safari.

Dyson DC23 Animal Canister Vac climbs steps

The latest addition to the Dyson family is the Dyson DC23 Animal Canister Vacuum. This one features level 3 root technology. The DC23 Animal will suck up all of your pet hair and clean your couches and carpeting, while coming with a bunch of handy accessories.

You get a stair tool, a brush tool, a crevice tool, and a hard floor tool. And as a bonus, the DC23 can climb steps, making it easier to clean stairs compared to more traditional vacuums. It will cost you $399 for that privilege however.

Space Invaders Couch looks uncomfortable

This Space Invaders couch is awesome, even if it does look uncomfortable. It’s the perfect seat for playing the classic game and once you win, you can consider it your throne as you will have vanquished your alien foes.

Sadly, this sofa will likely never get made. Only myself and two other people would buy it. It was created by designer Igor Chak. It probably folds up and eats you if you lose the game.

SanDisk ships its smallest USB thumb drive, the Cruzer Blade

SanDisk claims that its Cruzer Blade is the world’s smallest USB flash drive. We believe it. The drive is “about the size of a standard size paper clip and weighing approximately the same as a penny.”

It’s perfect for hanging from your keyring, when not getting lost in the folds of your couch and such. It’s available in capacities from 2GB to 16GB, with prices from $14.99 to $77.99. When they say small they mean small, just not in price.

Beverage Buggy

Beer + Buggy = You getting drunk without having to move your ass off the couch. Let’s face it, it’s 2010 and by now we should be able to go to Walmart and buy a robot butler who will bring us beer, but that isn’t the case. So we will just have to work with what we have.

And what we have is RC vehicles. They will have to do. Like this fully functional Beverage Buggy, which delivers two cans or bottles of your favorite drink(beer) in a radio-control dune buggy. But who is going to load that beer into the buggy?

Crazy couch turns into a punching bag

The couch has an articulating back rest that is round and can be stood upright to punch when the urge hits. The back is padded so you won’t hurt your arms or legs if you kick and hit the punching bag.

An astounding amount of energy is wasted each year by folks who leave their computers running all the time. The problem for many of us is that we simply forget to turn the devices off. A new concept plug over at Yanko Design will do the remembering for you.

The Energy Lock is a power outlet that you plug your cords into. Once connected you can rotate the plug like a kitchen timer to set how long the power will last in case you forget to turn the device off.

Adesso WKB-4200UB keyboard unveiled

You can’t use most computers without a keyboard and mouse. This is a problem for those who work in a small space or HTPC users who sit on the couch and might not have a surface for mousing. Adesso has unveiled a new keyboard that combines two input devices to save space.

The WKB-4200UB is a wireless keyboard with 2.4GHz connectivity and 30-foot range. It has 12 channels it can change through for best signal strength. The number pad of the keyboard is replaced with a track pad.

Samsung lauches rugged G-series external HDDs

Samsung has announced a new line of stylish and rugged hard drives at CES 2010. Judging by the image above, stylish means that they match your grandmother’s couch. These will come in 3 different physical sizes, 1.8”, 2.5” and 3.5”.

The drive is rugged enough to survive drops and also survive spills from liquids. The G2 portable will be boast hard drive sizes from 250GB to 640GB, while the G3 station will come in 1-2TB capacities. The G3 will even switch itself off when the computer is off and it’s not in use.
