Multi-room audio is hot these days with more manufacturers than you can shake a stick at bringing wireless audio systems to market. Lots of competition is a good thing because it means a large variety of price points and models for music fans to choose from. Sony has launched a high-end music system designed specifically for the iPod that streams music wirelessly to different rooms of your home.

The system is called the Sony S-AIRPLAY and is a wireless multi-room solution that can transmit audio from the main docking station to its wireless speakers up to 164-feet away. The system includes one docking station and two S-AIR wireless speakers. The system can support up to 10 speakers simultaneously. In addition to the iPod dock — that also charges the iPod — the system features an AM/FM tuner.

Alarm clocks usually jolt you awake leaving you dazed and angry at the coming day. But not the Silent Alarm Clock. It was designed by Johan Brengesjo and will wake you up without any sound at all. Just put on the matching wireless rubber ring that has a vibration device and you’ll get a nice vibrating alarm on your finger.

It’s no R2-D2 projector clock, but Coby’s CR-A78 alarm clock is pretty cool in it’s own right, having kind of a 2001/Robot head with a laser look. In addition to the built-in projector that creates a virtual red LED time display on the targeted surface, the clock also has an AM/FM tuner, music alarm option, and a timer function. When I first saw this I thought the price would be expensive, but it’s only a very cheap $13.50. This one will fit right in with all of your other Futuristic looking gadgets.

Another day, another R2-D2 doo-dad to clutter up our lives. We’ll add this one to the droid dossier we’re compiling on the little guy. And for once, R2′s dome is intact and not decapitated. Just barter with some Jawas, bring this clock home to the moisture farm and have him project the time onto your wall.

At least having the time projected onto your wall makes it easy to see at night, plus you don’t have any shelf space left since your shelves have become a landing pad for Star Wars vehicles. The R2-D2 Projection Alarm Clock from Wesco Limited will be released in October and can now be pre-ordered. Should you be cleaning him one day with a screwdriver, just ignore any holographic messages he plays. Because the hot chick is probably your sister anyway and it will all lead to a lot of planet hopping, Jedi training and bad prequels. Wouldn’t you rather just kick back and have some blue milk?

Who says alarm clocks need be ordinary? That is the thought behind the new iHome iH41, a rotating alarm clock with iPod touch dock priced at around $80.

The iHome iH41 comes in an L-shape design and is built to take advantage of the variable aspect screen of the iPod touch. It can switch orientation so one can watch videos in either horizontal or vertical displays. The digital clock display also rotates to match the orientation of the iH41.

We all hate alarm clocks, but without them we would all just show up at work whenever we managed to rouse ourselves out of our slumber. Probably around 1 or 2 PM. The makers of the Wake n’ Bacon alarm clock want you to feel good about waking up.

And what could be better then waking up to the smell of sizzling bacon. It works like this: At bedtime you insert a slice of uncooked bacon. It will begin cooking ten minutes before the alarm goes off, so you can wake up to some artery clogging pig meat. It’s kind of disgusting and yet a monument to awesomeness at the same time.

It’s basically a dumbbell with a motion sensor embedded inside, ensuring that you’ll work out every morning, stay fit and get fully awake…And pissed off.

We all know the rumors. By now most of us have seen the patents. But are these the real, official Sony Ericsson PSP phone specs?

Well, if this scanned white paper is to be believed, the PSP phone is going to be made by Sony Ericsson, not just Sony. It will feature the “full PSP experience” and also have advanced phone features. Some of the specs include: 4.3″ 16:9 widescreen TFT LCD display at 480 x 272 pixels and 16.77 million colors, 2 megapixel camera, Built-in web browser, Built-in podcasting, Flight mode, Bluetooth connectivity, Memory Stick Micro/microSD memory card slot, Streaming audio/video, Video calling, Speakerphone, Alarm clock, calculator, calendar, and more.

I still can’t figure out why the calculator is making a comeback, but here’s yet another example of a new twist on the number crunching device. If the HP Quick calc isn’t enough or the keyboard calculator is too expensive, this USB Hub calculator has the added benefit of being a bit more useful.

Aside from the hub aspect, with 3 USB ports, it also has some other bonus features, like a 12/24 hour world clock with alarm, a calendar and a even a thermometer. And it’s only $19, so it won’t kill you in the wallet. If you absolutely need a calculator, it might as well have a few other functions.

If you’re worried about greedy relatives stealing your money, the Shocker ATM Bank should cure the problem. When you put money in it, it will yell “Eeeeee!” for some reason. I guess it’s happy for you and your financial situation. The bank will also know the difference between all coins between 1 and 500 Yen, and will display the total amount saved so you don’t have to count it yourself.

Comes with a security card and an individual pin number. It will cost you $30, but it will cost your family several nasty shocks before they learn to keep their mitts off. It also has alarm clock and calculator functions. Hands off my yen mofo!

If you happen to live in an area that doesn’t have a radio station that caters to your musical taste, your only real options are MP3s, CDs or Internet radio. CDs are too old school for the geeky among us, MP3s are cool but can get expensive if you’re not into messing with RIAA so Internet radio looks like a good option.

The catch is that your boring clock radio probably only wakes you up to an annoying beep or FM radio.
