Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 to stream live broadcasts from Smart TVs

Posted in Samsung by Conner Flynn on February 23rd, 2011

Owners of Samsung’s latest Smart TVs will be able to stream live TV shows to compatible tablets or mobile phones. Both the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Samsung Galaxy S II will be able to make use of the televisions’ second tuner, turning them into second sets to watch in your home.

We don’t have much in the way of specs right now, but of course the new service won’t work on every TV that the company offers , just the upcoming D7000 and D8000 ranges. We also aren’t sure if it will work with the company’s older phones.

GAEMS Xbox 360 traveling case gets a price and release date

Posted in gaming accessories by Conner Flynn on February 20th, 2011

The last version of the GAEMS console-carrying case was pretty basic. It was neat, don’t get us wrong, but it was basically just a lunch box shaped suitcase for your console. Those of you who carry your Xbox 360 with you on the road will appreciate the company’s new case design.

It now supports both the fat and slim versions of the 360, not discriminating at all and it will even carry the PS3 Slim. There is now enough room to store the console, controllers and power brick. This new case also comes bundled with a remote, HDMI cable and power supply to power the speakers and LED screen.

Super Talent 500GB USB 3.0 Storage Pod

Posted in Storage by Conner Flynn on December 16th, 2010

Super Talent’s latest USB 3.0 Storage Pod is an ultraslim black box that contains a 500GB hard drive. It will transfer files using SuperSpeed USB, which is about ten times faster than USB 2.0. And you won’t need a power adapter since it’s completely bus-powered.

The company claims that it’ll zip files around at up to 90MB/sec. If you like what you see, you can get one next month for $99. Not bad for 500GB and super fast USB 3.0.

Crosley unveils new portable CR6002A turntable

Posted in Turntables by Shane McGlaun on September 16th, 2010

I remember the old vinyl records that my parents had around the house as a kid. I had a few records when I was young too. I once left my copy of Funky Town in the sun only to find it melted and warped later. If you have a bunch of old records you want to listen to on the go or make into digital tracks Crosley has a new turntable for you.

The turntable is called the CR6002A and is a small and portable device that leaves the edges of the record uncovered. The device supports both 33 1/3 and 45-RPM records and has an integrated FM transmitter.

Samsung Galaxy S heads to RadioShack on three carriers

Posted in Samsung by Shane McGlaun on August 13th, 2010

I usually venture into a RadioShack store once a year or so when I am in the mall around Christmas just to see all the sweet remote control toys they carry. The Shack has been working hard to get people to come in more and one of the ways that it has pulled that off is by turning itself into a seller of all wireless phones.

The Shack is offering the sweet new Galaxy S smartphone on three different carriers all in one place. You can get the Galaxy S as the Epic for Sprint, Vibrant for T-Mobile, or the Captivate for AT&T. The AT&T device sells for $199, while the other two are apparently going for $149.99.

Mysterious email sent from 1969 haunts iPhone 4 users in 2010

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on July 19th, 2010

Here’s some more iPhone 4 drama. A mysterious software issue has been haunting some users. It’s otherworldly and all spooky like. There’s a bunch of discussion on the Apple forums about blank email messages appearing on the iPhone that can’t be deleted. The date that appears on those messages is December 31, 1969.

Almost as soon as iOS4 became available, some users began seeing these emails appear in their MobileMe or Gmail accounts with no sender, no subject, and no content. The date on the messages was shown as 12/31/69, but some users saw 1970. No big deal really, except that these unwelcome hippies who are emailing well before their time can’t be deleted permanently.

Posted in iPod Touch by Conner Flynn on July 15th, 2010

The iPod Touch has been feeling pretty neglected lately with all of the iPhone 4 and iPad news. So Speck has come out with two new Fitted Artsprojekt cases. The cases have been designed by some of the world’s most progressive artists and members of Artsprojekt.

They should add a touch of sophistication to your device. The designs are printed on soft fabric and then fitted onto Speck’s hard-shell cases. The two new cases feature designs by Jared Nickerson, who created the “Mother Nature” theme. The second case has artwork from J. David McKenney.

Tokyoflash Wavelength watch

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on July 15th, 2010

Tokyoflash has unveiled their latest timepiece called the Wavelength. This one looks a bit out of character for the company, but still pretty neat. It features an always on LCD display and user selectable LED backlighting.

As usual, telling time with this watch is a bit confusing. The hour is displayed in digits in negative space in the center of the display, while minutes are shown as the ring of blocks surrounding the digits. The first rotation of minutes in positive blocks to 30 minutes, then the second rotation in negative blocks to 60.

Sprint says EVO 4G shortage is hurting 4G lead

Posted in Sprint by Shane McGlaun on July 12th, 2010

It’s been a long time since Sprint had a handset that most people actually wanted. The Evo 4G that landed on the Sprint network back in May was popular from the start and shortages quickly ensued.

The Evo 4G is the first smartphone to support 4G service with Sprint, which is WiMax. The WSJ reports that Sprint CEO Dan Hesse has stated that the shortage of the Evo 4G is hurting the lead Sprint has in 4G service.
