Egg Cuber makes square eggs

Posted in Kitchen by Conner Flynn on July 26th, 2009

Egg Cuber makes square eggsRound eggs are boring. Why eat eggs the way nature intended, when you can pervert nature and make them square? I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of boring round eggs. Besides, hard boiled eggs can roll off the damn table. That’s disaster waiting to happen. Avoid that with square eggs.

Square baby. That’s where it’s at. Just put a warm peeled hard boiled egg in the egg cuber with the base plate flat on the bottom. Place the forming plate on top of egg, then screw the top down until the egg turns square.

Gateway unveils new desktop computers

Posted in Gateway by Shane McGlaun on June 25th, 2009

gatewaysx_desktop-sbThe desktop computer was once the most common computer that consumers purchased. Today prices on notebooks and netbooks have came down so much that you can buy a notebook for the same price or even less than your average desktop. Still there are some who prefer a desktop to a notebook and for that group Gateway has unveiled new systems.

Gateway has introduces two new desktop lines including the small form factor SX series and the mini-tower DX series. The SX desktops start at $499.99 and for that price you get some nice hardware. The rig runs an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 CPU, 4GB of RAM, and a 640GB HDD.

Viewsonic announces new line of digital frames

Posted in Viewsonic by Shane McGlaun on May 28th, 2009

viewsonicframe-sbWithout several digital photo frames around my house my wife would have me eternally printing all the digital photos she takes. Normally that wouldn’t be that big a deal, but she never seems to ask for the right size print or doesn’t like some aspect of the photo. That means printing one photo often turns into a long run of printing, fixing, and reprinting. At least I can skip the printing with the digital frames.

Viewsonic has announced a new line of digital photo frames that includes the 10.4-inch VFD1020, the 8-inch VFD820, and the 7-inch VFD720. The range is called the TrueView family and the entire line has a 4:3 aspect ratio for less image distortion.

Wolverine cable holder

Wolverine cable holderNormally Wolverine’s claws will shred anything that they come into contact with. Luckily the adamantium skeleton in this Wolverine Mighty Muggs figure isn’t so strong.

This was once a simple Wolverine figure, but some outside of the box thinking has turned Logan into an effective iPod cable manager. Proof that simple toys can sometimes help keep your gadgets tidy on your desk. It’s only $15 and probably has some other uses as well.

Shuttle X50 all-in-one with lunchbox handleI keep thinking that this thing should have some snazzy A-Team or Superman graphics on it. Anyhow, Shuttle has gone official with its new X50 all-in-one PC, which takes aim at ASUS’ Eee Top.

Sony working on downloadable comic service for PSPLooks like SCEE is prototyping a new addition to the PSP PlayStation Store. According to a tipster, Sony is planning a service that will let you download digital comics directly to your PSP. Survey participants were asked to watch the video below and to help determine a pricing scheme: subscription or a la carte prices.

Digital comics aren’t new to the PSP, like the Metal Gear Solid comics for instance. The interactive comics were enhanced with slight animation, music and even sound effects. The PlayStation Store currently only has one digital comic available for download: The Cryptics, which will cost you $2.99.

Shuttle release update for Phenom II compatibility with SFF PC

Posted in Shuttle by Shane McGlaun on February 20th, 2009

Shuttle Phenom II SFFI have said before that I like the idea of small form factor computers like the ones Shuttle is famous for. I would love to have a SFF machine to put into my entertainment center to use for an HTPC. Earlier this month Shuttle announced a new Intel Core i7 and X58 chipset SFF machine.

Shuttle has now announced a SFF machine that supports the new 45nm Phenom II CPUs from AMD. The machine doesn’t appear to be new like the Intel system, but simply a BIOS update for an existing XPC Barebone SN78SH7 that provides Phenom II compatibility.

LoveTrainer, for those who aren’t doing it right

Posted in Headphones by Conner Flynn on January 28th, 2009

LoveTrainer, for those who aren’t doing it rightUPDATE: Turns out this is a hoax.

Is your girlfriend telling you that you are not up to the challenge in the bedroom? Do you need some kind of lovemaking coach? This completely ridiculous product wants to train you in the art of love. The LoveTrainer, from Sega (which looks incredibly similar to the FiTrainer from iTami) is basically a set of headphones that you and your awkward lover wear in the bedroom. It plays music and helps you along with such inspirational statements as “The foreplay, will now begin!” and “You are making love, at a very good pace!”

Look, if you need this device, you should never ever touch a fellow human being, because you are some sort of human abomination, in the bedroom and out. That goes for you and your lame lover. Seriously, the pair of you should just invest in some old fashioned porn. If that still doesn’t teach you, then please stop trying to reproduce.

Han Solo in Carbonite USB Flash Drive

Posted in Flash Memory by Conner Flynn on November 20th, 2008

Han Solo in Carbonite USB Flash DriveCelebrate Han’s not so eternal Carbonite nap with this USB flash drive. Although I don’t remember Han’s legs looking all frog-like. I also don’t remember Leia looking like a Hobbit. Still, it’s fairly adorable in a Star Wars Babies kind of way. We hope that this drive will hold your data better and longer then it held Han. 1 full GB of data/carbonite for $25.

New LG XPION R20, S20 Core 2 Quad desktops

Posted in LG by Conner Flynn on November 17th, 2008

New LG XPION R20, S20 Core 2 Quad desktopsLG announced two new premium desktop models that will be released under LG’s XPION brand. The specs that we have so far don’t seem to details so far don’t seem to match the “premium” claim, but maybe we will get more specs soon. One thing is for sure, those sleek cases are sexy as hell.

The XPION R20 features a 2 Core Quad Q8200 processor, with 3GB of RAM and a GeForce 9500GS graphics card. You’ll also get a new cooling system based on Multi Direction Platform Cooling (MDPC), which means it will be pretty quiet. The XPION S20 runs on a 2 Core Quad Q9400 and a GeForce 9600GT graphics card. Details on this one are slim indeed, but it should translate to a wider desktop with better performance then the XPION R20. At least we hope so. Sexy cases aside, we want more info.

Posted in Set Top Boxes by Conner Flynn on November 10th, 2008

Blockbuster may release set-top box before ChristmasRumor is that Blockbuster could roll out its own set-top box by the time the holidays are fully upon us, which would let users receive Movielink downloads in the comfort of their own living room. There isn’t much info available, but it will be interesting to see whether this rumor pans out or not. Netflix having some competition is probably a good thing, but Blockbuster will have to come up with something really interesting to even compete.

eMachines EL 1200 Series is the size of a dictionary

Posted in Computers,Desktop PCs by Shane McGlaun on October 13th, 2008

eMachines EL 1200 SeriesDesktop computers were once the computer of choice for the majority of users. Improvements in technology making notebooks cheaper and mobile Internet connections have turned the majority of users today to notebooks. However, there is still a market for the desktop PC, though it is shrinking literally and figuratively.

Many desktop computers today are shrinking in size into small form factor systems. The latest SFF desktop to hit retail shelves is the eMachines EL 1200 series. The series includes two computers — the EL 1200-05w and the EL 1210-01e. eMachines says the computers are about the size of a dictionary.
