New Sony PlayStation 3 CECH-3001A hits the FCC

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on April 27th, 2011

We’ve had the same PS3 consoles on the market for a while now. The only significant change came with the new slim format. But now a pair of new PS3 consoles has hit the FCC recently. All we really know is that they have Bluetooth and WiFi and that we could have guessed ourselves.

The new consoles go by model numbers CECH-3001A and CECH-3001B. The letter seems to denote different HDD sizes. So what are the changes? Maybe a new update to the chipset? Maybe some updates to keep them safe from hackers too. Then again, maybe this is just adding a new HDD capacity option. Thoughts?

Google Video Shutdown Stopped For Now

Posted in Google by Conner Flynn on April 25th, 2011

Google had decided to pull the plug on Google Video, but now it seems that the company has had a change of heart and has put that plan on hold. They are telling users that they are looking for “an easier way” to migrate all of those videos to YouTube.

Originally, Google gave users a choice between downloading these videos or Uploading them to YouTube before it erased them for good, but now they plan to automatically transfer content to YouTube themselves. Seems like that should have been the way to go from the start. Well at least you can rest easy as your videos should live to see another day.

DROID Charge Launching April 28, DROID Bionic Originally Scheduled for May 12?

Posted in Motorola by Conner Flynn on April 18th, 2011

The DROID Charge should be available next Thursday, according to a device lineup sheet from Costco. In fact next Thursday should be huge with the launch of the Incredible 2, the Charge and then maybe even the Xperia PLAY. That is going to be quite a launch day.

Much like the Bionic Man decades before it, the DROID Bionic was rumored to be canceled, but just like Steve Austin it has apparently risen from the ashes and is evident on the device lineup sheet with a May 12 date. Cue up the Six Million Dollar Man sound effects. Looks like they have plenty of time to sort out whatever it was that was causing problems with the device.

Your very own Walnut Neo Geo MVS for $649

Posted in gaming accessories by Conner Flynn on April 18th, 2011

This Neo Geo MVS arcade system from Analogue Interactive is made from 100 percent real walnut. The design is sweet and stylish. But do you really want to pay $649 for an old console encased in wood? Then again, that is the same price that the original Neo Geo AES home console sold for when it came out and that didn’t look nearly this awesome.

It’s your call, but to some of us this is bound to be just another thing to spray Pledge on and wipe down. Plus, termites could theoretically kill this thing. But if you are interested, the first units should ship next month.
