PlayStation Network down again

Posted in PS3 by Reuben Drake on April 21st, 2011

Looks like a whole bunch of users are reporting that they are unable to log in to the PlayStation Network again. This after outages that “anonymous” claimed responsibility for. Sony acknowledges that there’s a problem saying that “We’re aware certain functions of PlayStation Network are down”.

They promise an update on the situation as soon as possible. But that statement was issued over nine hours ago and there’s still no change in the situation. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Tons of used 3DS consoles in Japanese stores

Posted in Nintendo 3DS by Conner Flynn on March 28th, 2011

The 3DS just went on sale over the weekend here in the US, but the console has been available in Japan since February 26. But are they tired of it yet? It’s starting to look that way. Japanese retail blogs are reporting that the handheld keeps being sold back to stores.

That isn’t good news for Nintendo. So, what is the reason? The black screen of death? Well, it seems that there are many reasons that users are ditching the console. There’s the lack of good games for one, even though that will change. Maybe there is just a general disappointment after the buildup.

Avi Stylix iPod / iPhone docking station streams Netflix

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on March 22nd, 2011

Here’s something that we don’t see everyday. This Avi Stylix iPod / iPhone docking station sports a built in 7-inch LCD capable of streaming Netflix. Other features include a Dock Connector port, twin two-watt speakers, USB port, SD card slot and a remote.

It will also stream Netflix, as mentioned, but just be aware that you’ll need an iPhone or iPod touch with a live internet connection. That’s because there is no WiFi module built into the device itself. Still, it’s a neat trick for a dock, especially at just $99.99. Not bad at all.

Art Lebedev Cardboard USB Drive concept

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on February 15th, 2011

Art Lebedev, makers of those cool OLED keyboards, now have their sights set on USB sticks. They have come up with an environmental friendly USB stick that’s created from cardboard. The concept cardboard USB sticks can be torn from a strip and then quickly used to transport data safely from one place to another and then you would simply dispose of them.

When the technology becomes cheap enough these are sure to become a reality. They would probably be great for promotional material. They could even send us all of our junk mail in this form and free up our mailboxes.
