Yahoo accepts Google and Facebook logins

Posted in Yahoo by Conner Flynn on January 19th, 2011

Last year Yahoo started using Bing to power its search engine and this year they have announced that they will be accepting Google and Facebook account logins via the OpenID authentication protocol. Yahoo! says that this will make it easier for users to access their services without the need to sign up.

The new OpenID authentication system starts tomorrow. I wonder if we will see much more of Yahoo, since this doesn’t look good for them. They wish that others would be accepting their logins instead.

Samsung Captivate

Posted in Samsung by Conner Flynn on June 17th, 2010

Looks like ATT is finally getting serious about Android, with the Samsung Captivate, which will arrive in the next few months. The specs are impressive with a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, a 1GHz Hummingbird that processes graphics3x faster than Snapdragon, a 5MP camera that can record 720p video, and up to 32GB of combined onboard and external storage.

It will ship with Google Search which is nice. We aren’t sure if Captivate owners will be able to download third-party apps, since AT&T so far hasn’t allowed this on their Android devices.

Next Playboy Centerfold to be in 3D

Posted in 3D by Conner Flynn on May 11th, 2010

Now here’s a use of 3D that we wholeheartedly endorse. A 3D centerfold has been a long time in coming. When Hugh Hefner launched Playboy in the 50s, he hired a photographer to shoot two nude women in 3D. But the price of bundling the glasses with the magazine was too high. This week, Hef’s dream comes true.

It should also help low readership problems which the magazine has been suffering for awhile. The June edition of Playboy hits newsstands this week and will feature centerfold Hope Dworaczyk in blue and red (anaglyph) 3D.

Toys ‘R’ Us to sell iPods & Eee PCsToys ‘R’ Us long known as the place where a kid can be a kid, will now be offering iPods and Eee PCs. They aren’t new to electronics, but they’ve never been big on gadgetry in general, except for their Zune sales that began last year.

Now they will be offering iPods in an “iPod boutique,” where you can purchase shuffles, nanos, touches and accessories all in the hopes that they meet their bottom line. I can see it now. An “iPod boutique,” with no employee in sight. The Eee PC will be offered in black and white, with 7-inch Linux and XP versions available for $269 and $299.

Guy merges PS2 guitar with Guitar Hero: On Tour

Guy merges PS2 guitar with Guitar Hero: On TourWhen most of us are jamming playing Guitar Hero with our regular sized guitars, the last thing you want to be doing is play on a little handheld. But when playing On Tour with a tiny handheld, it might help a whole lot to have a real guitar.

This modder hacked a wireless PS2 guitar to integrate with Guitar Hero: On Tour and now jams extra hardcore. He attached the PS2 guitar directly to the DS controller. He also added an FM transmitter so the music can stream through a home stereo, rather then the DS speakers. Great job! Check out the video below.

Robot watch transforms into a desk clock

Robot watch transforms into a desk clock

This great looking and versatile robot watch serves a double duty as both a watch and a desk clock. Just remove him from the wristband and stand him up. That’s not all he does. It can also be used as a keychain time piece and even a necklace pendant. That’s alot of uses for one little robot. The arms are fully posable as well as his headgear. I think the best part about him is that he looks cool with the clock on his chest.

How much would you pay for this much coolness in one robot? You can get it for a surprising $40. Comes in Silver and Gold tone as well as a pewter color. All look equally nice.
