If you’re looking for an attractive and cheap iPad Nano alternative, this one will only cost you $29 and it looks like it is quality for that price. The Coby MP620 is a video and MP3 player that shares a similar form-factor with the Nano.

Sort of looks like those really small phasers from Star Trek: The Next Generation too. This device features a 1.8″ color LCD screen, and an FM radio. It comes in black, red or blue with a 4GB capacity for just $29.55 or $43.05 for the 8GB version.

Coby’s MP600 Video MP3 Player takes some obvious inspiration from the iPod Nano. It features a 1.44″ LCD screen that will play back all of your MTV video files, JPG photos, read text files as well as MP3 and WMA files. You’ll also get FM radio.

The best part is that they didn’t clone the price, which is just over $20 for the 2GB version. The 4GB version will cost you $29.99. So if you’re looking for a cheap alternative for the Nano, you might want to check it out.

Microsoft will announce price cuts across the board for its flash Zunes tomorrow. Good news if you are bargain shopping. hey aren’t Earth shattering deals, but every bit helps right? The 4GB model will drop to $100, the 8GB will go for $140 and 16GB for $180. The price drops make them all cheaper than the equivalent iPod nanos.

This morning the Apple Store was down for a little while which usually means they’re bringing on some new stuff. When it came back up we noticed a new Pink iPod nano as the latest addition in the lineup of the 3rd generation players. The new pink model is an 8GB version (4GB only comes in silver) and retails the same as the other 8GB models for $199. Apple is also offering two lines of free engraving on the back and 24 hours shipping so you can get your pink iPod in plenty of time for Valentines day.

SanDisk announced the release of the final version of the Sansa View today, apparently dumping the original View design the company had unveiled earlier this year. This new design however may make a serious challenger for the latest iPod Nano from Apple with a larger 2.4″ display, up to 16GB of storage and more.

The View supports playback of MP3, protected and unprotected WMA, WAV, audio along with MPEG4, WMV, H.264 and DivX video playback at a nice 30 frames per second. It will also show JPEG photos and play Audible files. In addition to just playing your stored media, this player also packs in an FM tuner with the ability to remember up to 20 preset stations, and also houses a voice recorder with a built-in microphone. And, the storage can even expanded from that already impressive 16GB of storage with a microSD/SDHC slot. The 2.4-inch TFT color display has a 320×240 resolution and the rechargeable battery promises 35 hours of continuous audio playback, or 7 hours of video.

Today Apple launched the much anticipated, “fatter-style” iPod Nano with a 2-inch, 320×240 resolution video screen at 204 pixels per inch, more than any other current iPod device. The new design is surprisingly similar to the rumored pics that were floating around.

The new iPod Nano measures just 0.26″ thick and weighs 1.74 ounces with a battery that will give up to 24 continuous hours of audio playback and 5 hours of video. It comes in Flash drive capacities of 4GB ($149) or 8GB ($199) and in a choice of 5 different colors, but the 4GB model will only be available in silver.

Earlier this week 9to5Mac posted some spy pics of what the new iPod Nano from Apple might look like and we, like many others, were not very impressed.

The new video Nano’s appeared to be a bit wider than previous models allowing for a small and wide video screen. The colors also appeared to be new. Today Apple announced the release of the iPod nano Red Special Edition. The iPod Red SE was developed by U2 lead singer Bono and Bobby Shriver to assist in the fight against AIDS in Africa. Apple will contribute $10 from the sale of each iPod nano RED Special Edition to the Global Fund which provides funds for programs for women and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.
